Clannad was one of my clients. For awhile they brought in their sister Enya, who I worked with for 10 years. Sadly Enya was not built to withstand the challenges of be famous. She has a castle that she never leaves. She rarely performed live. She's turned into a Howard Hughes recluse. Clannad is awesome. They were always kind and cheery people. If you like this style of music, the highest form can be found in the group Adiemus.

Great Scott

What, they blocked it on YT? sigh. Enya is the younger sister of lead singer Moya Brennan; Enya was part of Clannad in the early days, just before she and their then producer decided to go solo and created the Enya sound. (I sponsored an earlier Enya marathon several months ago.) I can understand why she doesn't really perform live, as she's multitracked her voice sometimes dozens or more times, so you'd need a choir to do her works live; plus many others doing the various other instruments she played herself originally. But, this is not about Enya, this marathon is about Clannad, which is equally as good.

Moya Brennan also had a great voice. I didn't know Enya was such a recluse. Too bad this was blocked. Are they UMG licensed?

This was a weird one. I think they blocked it because it seemed too many songs at once. Making it seem like a full album. 7 songs in this marathon and all were ok except 2 songs they got blocked by BMG. Its literally a puzzle. Some marathons have 3-4 UMG songs and are ok as long as WMG has 1-2 songs. The Orchard Music is as bad as UMG. Sony is ok with reaction videos. Some UMG are completely fine and some get blocked before I even post the marathon.

Great Scott, that was a terrific Marathon and I’m so sorry it was blocked because it’s the kind of thing that would be great to have unblocked, and on the channel, need to keep expanding peoples horizons. Really wonderful set and Nick. I really liked your addition in the end. Here’s hoping it gets unblocked and get me put out for everyone ASAP. I know I’ve heard that theme song sung in Irish can’t recall the name right now but that was a lovely piece. Really love that piece.

A Great Marathon Request, hoping it gets unblock, so it can be shared more fully.

This is going to blow your mind. I made this video extra long since the music was so good. I added 2 bonus tracks by the Band Magma and put " Watch until the end" in the thumbnail. Its got 331 views in 4 weeks and the channel actually lost subs!! I have no idea what people are listening too? Then the studio decided too pull it from YouTube like WTF??

Scott Anderson

That is super weird set of coincidences. I can’t imagine that the loss of subscribers was related to this music. It’s hard to know what really happened. But with visual art as well as music sometimes there are people they get really pissed off. If you try to get them to try something new. They seem to take it personally. That’s why I love this channel is because it gives everything a shot I don’t have to like it all equally, but I feel like I have to give it a chance. We should have a long conversation sometime about the crossover between Art and music and how to look at it and listen to it. Keep on doing what you’re doing.

this was real soothing- I think the music is so relaxing and I also do like Enya so much

This is really awesome music. I do have some albums by Enya and plan on acquiring some music my Clannad as well. Just really nice music to listen and relax. I do have an album my Moya Brennan and I enjoy it quite a bit.

(uh, I came up with it? no matter.) Celtic Woman is great too -- I've seen a number of their concerts (thanks to public TV sponsoring them). As best as I can determine, they're mostly a cover band/performance show, as the lead singers periodically change over the years, and I don't believe they have any "original" CW tunes, everything is sourced from some other Irish/Scottish/English/etc. artist, except for numbers that the individuals may have produced prior to joining CW. The arrangements of each song are obviously unique to CW. Besides their own individual stuff, they've covered Enya, Clannad, among other celtic and/or new age.

Celtic Women is like the vocal counterpart to the whole "Lord of the Dance" Irish dancing thing that Micheal Flatley popularized a few decades back. As an Irish descendant, I'll stick with Clannad, Enya, The Clancy Brothers, a bit o Cranberries (and shout out to Loreena McKennitt) and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Marching Band!! ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️. Tis a beautiful country..... the Peat....Ahhh, the Peat....

I love Clannad. I've see them perform live a couple of times, and they put on a great show. Love Moya's voice, and her harp playing too. They're a very talented, musical family! Great marathon, Great Scott, and glad you enjoyed it so much, Nick. And thanks for the addition of Magma. I'd never heard of them. That was a lot of fun.

David Holloway

FYI Nick, being Irish they're singing in Gaelic, the original Celtic language of Ireland.
