Aloha, friends!

Friday (April 19, 2024) we reach Day 50 of this year’s 100 Days of Ukulele, which started on March first.  If you’re participating in this year's project, I invite you to join me, along with Project Admin and Community Manager Jenny, this Friday for a community mixer on Zoom!

In this live event, you can meet other project participants, chat together in small breakout rooms, and share with each other about your projects.  We'll give prompts for starting the conversation, and we'll switch rooms a few times so we can meet different folks.  Because this is a long project, it helps to trade stories with folks who know what you're going through. :)  Let's discuss how the first 50 days have gone, and how we'll approach the next 50!

#100DaysUke2024 Mixer (Live on Zoom)

Friday April 19, 2024 - 12 pm Hawaii Time

3pm PT / 6pm EST / 8am Sat AEST (check time converter)

Join Zoom Meeting: link expired - join us again for Day 75!

Please comment if you're planning to join, and mention the time for your time zone to help out other folks.

Since this is a live interactive event, we won't be able to record it.  If you cannot attend today but would be interested in another Zoom mixer, feel free to let us know in the comments. And if you're still thinking about joining the project, it's never too late to jump in. :)

Day 50 Check-in

Congratulations to all those who’ve been a part of the project, however you've been participating. There are no “rules” to this challenge, and it’s been great to see how players have adapted it to their own interests and skill levels. This year we have active participants on Facebook and Instagram (see below for links), and some Patrons are sharing their projects here on Patreon, via the Community Chat!

If you're willing to share, I'd love to hear how you are doing at Day 50, halfway through this year's project.  What questions do you have?  What have you learned so far?  What do you need to do to make the project sustainable?  What has been your favorite day so far?  Did you do anything special to celebrate Day 50? What do you want to ask other participants?

Those who can't attend the live event can still share via the comments here, and hopefully connect and learn from each other this way.  Your feedback will help shape the project and project events going forward.

A special thanks to our admins, mods, cheerleaders, tech team, and everyone who is supporting the project!  See you on the journey!

xo cynthia.

Greetings from Southern California! I'm looking forward to our Friday social at 3pm PST. I enjoy ‘meeting’ others in this community. It’s a nice respite from the craziness and meanness in the world. The number of way talented people here blows me away. As I approach Day 50, I’m happy to say this year, being my second 100 Day Uke challenge ever, (last year was my first), I’m a bit more relaxed about posting. I’m no longer intimidated by others who are way, WAY more accomplished than i. Instead, I’m appreciating….and looking more closely at…..their skills and learning from them. My approach this year is that I challenge myself to keep uke practice…..and the JOY of UKE….front and center in my life for 100 days straight. I’m a firm believer of practice makes progress. I don’t feel that I need to post a recording of myself playing a complete piece daily. After all, who wants to see my endless choppy takes and technical practices? BORING!!!! I have learned a lot from fellow 100 Day-ers. At the same time, I can’t see the benefit of playing a song, let alone sing in sync, when I clearly need lots more practice. I certainly don’t need to develop any more bad habits. Sometimes I will post a portion of a song, particularly if I’m proud of my progress on a progression…. Or doing chord gymnastics…. Or getting a strum or fingerpick pattern down…. Or overcoming my fear of singing. To me, it’s all good.
