Livestreaming the Uke Social tonight 3/14! (Patreon)

Aloha uke friends!

Please join me on Facebook tonight, Wednesday 3/14 at 8:00 PM PST for a livestream of the Uke Social Jam / Open Mic - grab your uke, download the 22-song Uke Social Jam Packet, and play and sing along with me, my students & friends, and uke players across the world. Spread the word, everyone is invited!  (and if you're in the Bay Area, please join us in person!)

I know it will be late/early for most of you, so no worries if you can't tune in live - you'll be able to watch the recording later.

What is the Uke Social?

Now that I'm teaching less (because I want more time to focus on recording and touring), I wanted to create a night where my local students can reunite, jam on songs, come up on stage to help lead songs and build some song-leading skills, and also try out the Open Mic in a supportive environment.

I'll be livestreaming through my phone, so please bear with me if the quality is a bit unstable -- livestreaming is always a bit of an experiment, and in this case we will be at a bar that may be a little loud.  So we'll see how it goes, and keep adapting. Our January Uke Social livestream into our Patron-only Facebook group went well, and I'm excited to share this experience with you again.

What is a jam?

At an uke jam, the group plays through songs together from shared chord charts.  Jamming is fun because we move through many songs quickly, and jamming can also be challenging because you need to keep up with the group!  I think jamming builds different skills than practicing on your own - you learn to read chord charts faster, you learn to hear and follow the rhythm of the group, and you learn to play at your own level (single strums, simplified strums).  I will offer some basic chord and strum introduction, but the focus is on playing through the songs as a group.

Join me if you can, and at the very least, have fun playing the songs in the packet!
