Aloha Patrons!

Hope you'll join me (tomorrow) Thursday 11/15 at 4:30pm Pacific Time for our monthly Live Lesson - if you click on the video above, you’ll see a countdown for your timezone.

I'll teach our November vote winner, You've Got a Friend.  Given the amount of chords, this is definitely a challenging song, but we'll take it slowly with just the island strum to start.  I've added a chord melody intro, and depending on time, I'll show you some other variations (such as fingerpicking).

Please note, this is a Work in Progress chart - I'm looking forward to your feedback to help me complete the arrangement.  So please hold off from sharing until the published version comes out on Gumroad.  Thanks!

Thanks, Cynthia -- I thought the chart was great, and I pretty much had the chord melody in the intro before the lesson, but your tips really helped. Love whenever you work in chord melody!

love this Cynthia.....I struggle with the Barre B7, do you have any tips on making it a stronger chord and playing nicely, mine always sounds a bit flat. Bar with index and cover with middle to get good pressure with thumb on back of neck, but it still sounds flat on A and the E string.....am I pressing too hard? Not hard enough? ring finger isnt touch those strings. Any help appreciated :-)

Cynthia Lin

hi wallis! this is something that's better to go over in a live session, so bring it up if you get a chance to join for a live session. you want to press as hard as possible, but check that you're pressing into each string evenly. i suspect you can wiggle the index finger and figure out where you're not pressing hard enough - pull your arm and wrist back to push the base of your finger into the fretboard. let me know how that goes!

Where can I find you playing the whole song? I've searched around but can't seem to find it?

Susan Alexander

I haven't found it, either. I'm back from 7 months recovering from a broken hand -- I have a lot of catching up to do! I've missed my ukes!
