{$5+ Patron-only post --> this month available for All Patrons}

Aloha Patrons!

For a special end-of-year gathering, I'd like to invite ALL Patrons to join us for this month's Live Lesson.

See you Thursday 12/20 at 4:30pm Pacific Time for our monthly Live Lesson - if you click on the video above, you’ll see a countdown for your timezone.

I'll teach our December vote winner, Something.  Take a look at the chord chart attached to this post - you can see that this song has quite a few chords.  As always, we'll start with a beginner-friendly single-strum version, and afterwards I'll teach the  tab riff, fingerpicking patterns, and strumming variations.

The chord chart is a Work in Progress - I depend on Patron feedback to complete the final chart.  Please wait for the final published version to share with others.  Thank you!

Excited! Just looked at the chord sheet ❤️

Eric Guerin

This was such an awesome live lesson! Loved it! Question: I know in the original version after the bridge George Harrison goes into the guitar solo before dropping back down into the third verse. Does the arrangement need a break in there? It just seems like an abrupt transition to go from the faster rock strum bridge back into the dreamy finger picking of verse 3 so quickly. Just curious to get your opinion Cynthia!

Cynthia Lin

It’s a dramatic shift but you can make any transition work with intention (true in music as well as in life), and you can also play another verse and bridge as a solo before going back to last verse. For teaching purposes, I left that out but adapt as you see fit!

Maggie

Didn't get to watch live but Loved the lesson! Learned a new skill! Bending! :) Thanks!

Thank you Cynthia, Merry Xmas! My favorite quote of the year... "Fake it till you make it!" I'm looking forward to another year of music with you. :-)

Donna

Merry Christmas, Cynthia and thank you for bringing so much joy to my life through the ukulele and giving something special for my two and a half year old grandson and myself to do together. Having his own uku is what got me interested in learning and you make it so easy. 💕

John Lynch

Regarding Eric’s comment ... any possibility of trying to walk us through the solo. I did find a tab, but it is a wee bit tricky. That said, most of the arrangement you walk us through seem tricky, but the way you break it down during the lesson time ... it really wasn’t to bad once I picked up on the nuances of the arrangement. Cheers.

Love this! The one thing that I can't get to sound right is the bend in the riff (which doesn't seem to go quite high enough). I tried it with a pull-off C to B on the A string, which worked better for me, but now I'm using a slide from C to B instead.

I just became a patron a couple days ago and I've been looking through the archived live lessons and they're so great! Your chord sheets & explanations are seriously amazing. I feel like I've already advanced my uke playing so much just from your lessons.

Cynthia Lin

Hi folks, I've updated the chord chart in this post with the official release - it also has a link to the video play-along. Enjoy!
