Aloha Patrons!

I'm excited to share the new Play-Along video for American Pie, featuring lots of your fellow Patrons!  You might recognize a few of them. :)

Watch on YouTube 🎥: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn6Qhy7-jNk

About the Play-Along

We shot this video at San Francisco Uke-tober Fest, at our local uke shop called Aloha Warehouse.  You might have noticed that we shortened the song - the chord chart has the full song, but for the purposes of making this video, we focused on the intro, chorus, and first verse.

I asked Patrons attending Uke-tober Fest to join me for this shoot.  We met at Aloha Warehouse, rehearsed the song and choreography (it's more complicated than it looks!) several times, and then shot 3 takes (this is take 3).  All the credit for this shoot goes to my videographer Robert Gomez Hernandez, who planned and executed this whole project for me while I was recovering from China tour and managing Uke-tober Fest.

Big shoutout for the Patrons in the video! (back row, left to right) Bryan, Michael A, Michael S, Holli, Doug (middle row) Darryl, Richard, Leah, Jenny, Lynn, Charissa (front row) Connie, Briana, Lisa-Marie, and Marty.  Thank you all for jumping in, and making it work.  I know it was tight quarters and a lot of chords to memorize quickly (I played some wrong chords too, no worries!), but you can definitely feel the group energy in the performance.  You rock!!  Anyone want to comment about the process of shooting this video?

Enjoy!  Please like, share, and comment to help spread the word.

And thank you to all Patrons for voting for and supporting the production of this Play-Along video!

Do you believe in rock and roll? Can music save your mortal soul? And can you teach me how to dance real slow? Well, I know that you're in love with him 'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym You both kicked off your shoes Man, I dig those rhythm and blues I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck With a pink carnation and a pickup truck But I knew I was out of luck The day the music died I started singin' Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry And them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singin' this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die

Sing along was awesome, I teared up seeing all of you performing together! Robert is a genius with the filming! ❤️

Jenny Selig

This was really fun and somewhat exhausting to make and memorization is hard. ;) Thank you, Cynthia!

Connie Peabody

Cynthia and fellow patrons, Using a term common for the timeperiod this song was written "what a rush that was!" Robert managed to keep this herd of honu together and made us look good! I was glad so many showed up that some of us got to sit, I never have been good at standing a long time in a crowded room. Cynthia's advice for us was purrfect, sing your hearts out she said, the uke playing will come along. It did, she did, we did!

Greg Stannard

Wow looks like soooo much fun...!! GREAT job y'all!!

Leah Woosley

I'm smiley the whole way through, so fun. :)

Jamie McKay

Heidi

Sarah Maar

This was lovely. What a great energy. Thank you!

Lynn

Brilliant

Linda Rosetti

I've developed a tendinitis in my left shoulder which is aggravated by playing my uke!!! I"m so depressed. In the middle of Christmas tunes I can't hold or play for longer then 15 min. Ice, Ibuprofen, rest. I see a PT next week.

David Dong

Bring your uke to PT to see if that might aggravate it or if there is a workaround so you can play longer.

Stephanie Kugler

You all rocked it! Love this song and love playing along with you! Thanks ❤️
