Aloha Patrons!

Welcome to our monthly vote!  Please note that voting closes Monday 3/4 at 11:59PM Pacific Time.

If you're new to Patreon, please read thoroughly for instructions on how the whole voting process works. (also, if you're new, join our secret facebook group!  Email patronhelp@cynthialin.com with your facebook email address and we'll add you - and see Community Notes at the bottom of this post for more ways to connect.)

How the Song of the Month works

Here's the TL;DR version of what happens with the Song of the Month:

1. All Patrons vote!  (in this post!  see the song options below!)

2. I create a Chord Chart ($3+ Patrons) and teach a Live Lesson ($5+ Patrons) for the winning song, and I'll record a Play-Along to release on YouTube.

3. All Patrons receive access to the recorded hour-long Live Lesson the following month.

THANK YOU PATRONS for directly supporting the creation of these higher production Play-Alongs!  Find all Play-Along posts here.

Bohemian Rhapsody Part 2 Live Lesson is now available for all Patrons

Last month's Song of the Month was Bohemian Rhapsody Part 2, following up on Part 1 from the previous month, watch here: Bohemian Rhapsody Part 2 Live Lesson.  I realize this epic song is quite challenging for Beginners - I hope you'll think of it as something to work towards. Find all available Live Lessons here.

We're going to take a little break from Bohemian Rhapsody before finishing the song - feel free to suggest it in the comments if you're ready for Part 3! (Part 3 will be the final part).

This month's song choices are taken from your comments from last month's vote - I wanted to offer some fresh song choices.  Look forward to seeing your song suggestions!

HOW TO VOTE

1. Click on the check box for as many of the song choices as you like below- yes, multiple votes are allowed. Please note - as soon as you tick the checkbox, the vote is counted. (you can look at the ticker on the right!  Sometimes the ticking doesn't work on certain devices - in this case, try your laptop or desktop vs tablet or mobile)

2. Comment with ONE SONG that you’d want for next month's tutorial. Next month's song choices are taken from your comments, so make your voice heard!  Please keep it to one song suggestion per person.

3. Upvote other people's song choices by clicking the heart on their comment. Upvotes are an easy way to double your voting power!  Your upvotes matter, so I encourage you to come back and look through your fellow Patrons' comments to upvote.

Thank you, and happy voting!

Stuck On You and Dancing in the Moonlight. How about a lesson on strumming and singing at the same time? I'm having a lot of trouble with, well, most songs, but especially Hotel California. Maybe because I'm concentrating so much on the strumming pattern! Thanks!

I'd love "Hazy Shade of Winter" if it doesn't make it this month.

Rici

Are you allowed to share the song/chord sheet and would you like to? I would be very interested in it and it doesn't look like Brandi will be winning here.

Jodi Hubner

Melanie Maus

I vote for Rocket Man by Elton John

Amanda Matheson

Please lets just do one Kacey Musgraves song. She won album of the year, beat out a lot of good ones! Also would love to learn a couple variations of country strums :D

Joan Hinchcliffe

How about HM Blues that Cynthia did such a great job on? That would be different and challenging!

Amanda Matheson

Classics are great! But I wish we did more modern stuff once in a while. Maybe we can vote on a different category every month? So its not always the same genre, or from the same decade etc. Thoughts? Just an idea.

Amanda Matheson

P.S. just a tip I ask my google mini if it will play all the songs before I choose one!

Samra Antons

I would like to learn Taylor Swift’s Delicate as next months song of the month.

I liked it when Cynthia did this a lot. It forced people to step out of their comfort zone a bit to pick and learn something new. A different genre, newer song they may not know, a new technique, etc.

Sarah Mendez

The new John Legend song, Preach.

Scott

Maybe Kawika by Sunday Manoa? Great song with lots of variety

Annette Goldbaum

OK - Let's go really old. How about "A Kiss to Build a Dream On", Louis Armstrong version? Something newer? "Budapest" by George Ezra

Shelley Rubzow

Bohemian Rhapsody Pt.3. I’m looking forward to finishing it!

Will Peralta

Question. So, we aren't limited to only one choice this month?

Kelsey Fleury

I really liked when she encouraged the different genres as well. I can appreciate that majority rules but I would also love to see newer music more often.

Patricia Hurley

I’m ready for bohemian rhapsody Part 3!

Patricia Hurley

I recently heard a solo acoustic version of Bargain by Pete Townsend - lots of interesting strumming and fingerwork, quiet and loud - could be really fun!

molly ferrer

Maybe some month we could vote on your day 27 version of Across the Universe, so beautiful...

Michele Scott James

Would it be possible to have something later than 1971, or 1976? I'm so tired of this era of music. There really has been some great stuff since then. Please, fans, vote for something later. :)

Barbara Ulber

Just a short thank you from Munich, Germany!

Ginger Earl

"Shallow" tutorial, please????? Your class did such a great job. Watching the video has been fun, but it makes me long for one of Cynthia's super chord charts with tutorial strumming tips.

Fuzzy

Check out Caliukulele on Facebook and message John Sandival for the music, I’m sure he’d be willing to send it to you.

Lynda Moore

I was so excited to see Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. Since it came in a close second, could we please have it as an option for next month. Thank you.

Ginger Earl

I agree that there is a lot of great newer music, but just hearing Across the Universe makes me want to suggest that song as well!

Kristy

Kacey Musgraves has a cute song Late to the party that m

Katherine Tam

I’d love to learn some more contemporary songs. Maybe something by Megan Traynor (she has played All About That Bass on a uke) or Sarah Bareillies?

Jillian

Some of the contemporary songs ( for me) seem like " Pop Flash Music".The classics done in a more modern voice can be very appealing. I am working on " If You Could Read My Mind" by Gordon Lightfoot. He was never a favorite artist but the song is haunting and has some beautiful chords. Same with "The Look of Love" by Dusty Springfield, I think we have a span of all ages playing the uke here. I am open to expanding my music vocabulary but there are some songs that never grow old. Looking forward to today's lesson, Cynthia!

Mary Geary

Time in a Bottle - Jim Croce

Mary Geary

This Masquerade - Leon Russell

Liberty

Shallow again please!!! Or at least the cord chart.

Karen Lee

Fill Me In - Craig David

Jennie Kessinger

More 80s modern rock songs - like Tears for Fears

Jennie Kessinger

Actually, I just re-watched your I Melt with You 100Days performance. I would love that tutorial!

Laura de Wilt

Hi Cynthia, Africa has always a high rating for so many months. Could you Please, Please do this song as a bonus? It will fit so well for the uke. I love your work. Greetings from the Netherlands, Laura

Michele Scott James

I love the oldies, but let's do something just a little newer in April!!!
