Aloha Patrons!

First, a warm welcome to all the new Patrons!  Thanks for joining us here!  If you are a new Patron, please introduce yourself in the comments below. Feel free to share how long you've been playing, what kind of uke you play, if you have an uke club to play with, what songs you've been working on. And if you've been a Patron for a while and want to share, please go ahead. This is a good place for your questions too - fellow Patrons, feel free to help me answer any newbie questions.

Thanks to all of you for directly supporting my work and for creating a powerful and positive online ukulele community.

A note for newbies - I know Patreon can be a bit hard to navigate. Please be patient and explore, and be sure to join our secret Facebook group!  Details on how to join are below in the Community Notes at the bottom of this post.  Our community on facebook is active and supportive, and it's the best place to post any question you have about Patreon or ukulele. I also recommend downloading our CL Patron App, which has links to all my channels and resources (see Community Notes for links to download).

February 2019 recap
In February, I posted three new videos:

  • I hope you checked out the premiere of my new music video for “La Vie en Rose.”  Thank you for all your support!  Please watch and share!
  • I posted a new Play-Along for “Island Style” - thank you to the students of my Nov 2017 class in San Francisco for playing it so beautifully.  I'll also be teaching this song next Thursday in our Beginner Live Jam.  Watch here
  • I also published the Play-Along for "Ain't No Sunshine," which was the Patron-voted song for September 2018.  All Patrons can access the full Live Lesson, find it here.

I also shared that you can get a $10 subscription to Ukulele Magazine by using this special link. Patron perks!

More February 2019 Patron events:

  • We worked on “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Part 2 for our February 2019 Live Lesson, which is now available to all Patrons

  • Chord charts for these 2 new songs are available for $3+ Patrons
  • At our Intermediate Live Jam ($20+ Patrons), we worked on chord inversions, using “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Fabrice Saenger

Hi! I am a new Patron. My name is Fabrice. I am French but I am fluent in English. I have played the guitar and the ukuele for a couple of years. I would consider myself intermediate level. I taught myself mostly using friends and You Tube videos. I am currently working on "Black Bird" by the Beatles which I find quite challenging. Recently, I have also been playing "Tonight You Belong To Me" ; "Sea of Love" ; "Let It Be" ; "Build Me Butter Cup" ; "You Got a Fast Car". I sing mostly in English occasionally in French. In French, I like "Thomas Dutronc" (gypsy jazz) and "Ben L'Oncle Soul" (Soul). I also enjoy Brazilian Bossa Nova even though I don't speak Portuguese. I live in Seoul, South Korea. I am not aware of a ukulele club in Korea. But it would be great if there was one. Please to meet you, Ukuele lovers

Andy Power

Hi all! I am a new patron and have been playing the ukulele for 2 yrs now.

Oops, posted prematurely! I was gonna continue to say I want to say a massive thank you to Cynthia - if not for you I would have given up learning to play the uke as I couldn't find any tutorials I could really understand. You are an amazing teacher with an easy to understand style while keeping it fun at the same time, thank you so much for all the work you put in to teach ukulele to all who desire to. Massive appreciation! Much love!

Cynthia Lin

welcome Fabrice! i believe we have at least one other Patron in South Korea, perhaps they know of uke clubs and you could meet up!

I’m new to Patron and started to learn how to play in October 2018 to help me recover from the loss of my spouse and spend quality time with my sister. The technology side on how Patron, Gumroad, and YouTube all fit together is a bit confusing. I have the $10 Patron membership and a Gumroad membership. Can you tell me why I need the Gumroad? I also see CL6 on your calendar being presented on Instagram. What does this mean and do I need to follow you there too? I understand accessing all these great tools but piecing it all together is a bit tricky.

Hello, I've been playing the ukulele since July 2018. I work in a prison library and as we're always searching for programs to provide I came across a resource kit of 8 ukuleles with lessons and ideas. I had never played an instrument but felt it would be a fun thing to do. I was able to provide a short 6 week program on how to play the ukulele. With the help of Cynthia Lin's tutorials it went much smoother than I thought it would. I continue to destress with the help of the ukulele. Thank you Cynthia Lin for making learning fun and easy !

Hi everyone. I'm a new patron from central NC (Greensboro area). Last fall I took a Beginner Uke class through my local community arts center, then moved on to the intermediate class, and now am a founding member of the "Triad Ukulele" group that meets twice a month to learn and jam. I have a Luna tattoo concert uke, but am looking to expand. A little background - when I was in the third grade I lived in Hawaii (my father was in the Coast Guard) and the school I attended taught the ukulele in music class instead of the recorder. I stopped playing when we left the next year, but I've always wanted to start again - and now I have! I really enjoyed the beginner tutorial for "Island Style" last Thursday, and hope to be able to attend many more.
