{Patron-only post}

Aloha, Patrons!

A warm welcome to the many new Patrons who've just joined us. Please see the bottom of this post for tips on joining our private Facebook group (the best place to get support and ask questions) and other Patron communities.

Our October 2019 song poll winner is "Killing Me Softly with His Song."  Click on the video above to watch my version of it.  (I may modify my arrangement a bit to make it more all-levels friendly for the Live Lesson.)

I hope you'll join me for the Live Lesson for "Killing Me Softly" on Thursday, October 24 at 5:30PM Pacific Time. Remember you can find all Patron events on our Patron Google Calendar).  Patrons at the $5+ tiers can tune in for the Live Lessons. If you'd like to change your pledge and join us, click here for help on editing your pledge. Lesson info will be posted next week to $5+ Patrons.

I'll share the chord chart to $3+ Patrons when it's ready, and all Patrons will get access to the recorded lesson next month.

For tips on getting the most out of a Live Lesson, check out Patron Mark Pierce's Guest Post on the topic!

Thanks to everyone for voting and sharing your song suggestions in our October 2019 Song Poll - you can go back to the poll to keep commenting and up-voting your song suggestions for next month.

Look forward to seeing many of you online on Thursday!

About the Song of the Month

For each of our monthly song vote winners, I teach a Live Lesson for $5+ Patrons and post a Patron-only chord chart for $3+ Patrons. I then create a Patron-supported Play-Along to share on YouTube. Here's a playlist of recent Patron-supported Play-Along videos. The Live Lesson will be available for $5+ Patrons for the first month, and all Patrons will get access at the beginning of the following month. Click here to find all available Live Lessons.

Day 11: Killing Me Softly with His Song // #100DaysofUkuleleSongs

Day 11: Killing Me Softly with His Song. #100DaysofUkuleleSongs is part of a community creative project called #The100DayProject that encourages artists to practice their process for 100 days. (you should do it too!) I'm committing to 100 days of recording and publishing a video each day of myself playing a song on the ukulele. Through this project, I hope to: - get faster at the technical aspects of recording good video with high-quality audio - come up with new arrangements daily and learn new songs - improve my ukulele skills - find good workarounds for recording while i travel - build a habit of sharing music daily If you enjoyed this video and my other uke videos, please support this project by: - sharing this video (on social media or with friends in person!) - subscribing to this channel - coming back to watch more videos (link for the 100days playlist: http://bit.ly/100DaysofUkuleleSongs) You can find my original music online at http://music.cynthialin.com. Can’t wait! 👏🏻

I have to admit I was sad my favourite song didn’t win and I thought Killing Me Softly would be so boring... but now I’ve watched the video and can’t wait for the lesson! Sadly I won’t be able to join in live as I’ll be on a plane for Vegas for my birthday :-) 🎸 🎂

John Gambel

Hi Cynthia, This was a beautiful rendition of the song. Looking forward to learning the picking pattern and accompanying your beautiful voice

Paula Armijo

Yay! So beautiful, Cynthia! I am so excited to learn this one. I've voted for it so many times!

Valerie Hart

Wow! This is so beautiful and I think I will be able to sing in this key. Yeah!!!!

Cecile

You sing with so much sensibility; this song makes me very sad, I think, I won't play it, it's too painfull for me. How you play and sing is very, very nice...

SONIA BARDES

Bohemian Rhapsody Part 3 (Queen) !!!

Dorain Jacobs

For November it would be great to have a Christmas song to learn to play for all the Christmas get-togethers. Something really different, like "Zat You Santa Claus" by Louis Armstrong.

Sherrie Porter

Just Something more beginner friendly... Tears from Heaven and Killining me Softly are Beautiful songs, just Difficult! They are Killin me LOL

Sugar .

How're you getting on with the songs? You can make the arrangements a little more simple to help at the beginning.

Sherrie Porter

I went back to Wild World, we can't All like every song :) and there are so many I love, so no worries. I'll get back to this one, probably skip Tears, too sad. Thanks for asking though!

Lynn Daigler

I am hoping fwe can do Christina Perry a thousand years!

Jenny Selig

You may already know this, but it was taught in both the $10 and $20 jams in October, so it may not be able to get the votes for a Live Lesson because many of the Patrons already learned it. Nothing's impossible, though!
