{Patron-only post: please click through and heart this post so I know you've seen it, thank you!}

Aloha, Patrons!

As we strum into May, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new Patrons. New Patrons, please see the resources later in this post for help getting started in our community.

This month's newsletter comes a little later than normal (just taking some time to get reacquainted with real social life again!) - apologies if you've been waiting, remember you can always check our monthly events on our Patron Google calendar.

Celebrating Day 100!

Today is officially Day 100 in this year's 100 Days of Ukulele Project!  Congratulations to all our participants.  No matter how many videos you posted, we're thrilled that you shared your journey with us.  We're celebrating today with 2 live watch parties in the Facebook group, you can watch the recordings if you miss the live events.  Remember to order our official 100 Days tee shirt, preorders close tomorrow.

We'll be closing the facebook group to new members after today, so If you're curious to see what the project is about, please join today and check it out.  Click this link for more info, read the FAQ, and follow #100DaysUke2021 on Instagram to connect with the community there.

Would you like to attend a Live European-timezone Jam?

Our international community has grown, not only here on Patreon, but in Facebook groups, on Instagram, and even in Zoom jams.  I recognize that our regular monthly live lessons and jams don't work for folks in UK/EU time zones to attend live, and given that I live in Hawaii, a full 11 hours behind London Time, it won't be possible for me to lead a live event for our European friends.  However, I'd like to see if there's critical mass and some leaders in our community who'd like to come together and create a live event for the European timezone.

Comment below if you'd like to attend a live event on a Thursday at 5:30pm BST (London Time):  One idea we've had is to add a Beginner Live Jam ($10+) on the current open Thursday in our Patreon calendar.  Since the jam would have to be outside of my waking hours here in Hawaii, Community Manager Jenny has offered to lead it, likely starting in June. Please comment below if you be interested in attending a jam like this - critical mass is important.  Please also comment if you'd like to help with the event, in terms of co-hosting or being part of shaping the event and spreading the word.

For European folks who want to attend a live event in May, you can attend Jenny's "Third Tuesday" Jam listed with the regional events below.  We have some fellow Patrons hosting UK/EU friendly events, highlighted below here in the newsletter and also on our Patron Google calendar (also accessible through our Patron App).  Please attend those events live - your attendance helps to confirm that there's critical mass for a live Patron event.

Remember, if you are hosting a Zoom event at any time, and would like to invite Patrons to join, feel free to post the info in the comments of these newsletter posts.  You can also message me at the end of the month if you would like your event to be considered for the next month's newsletter.

Did you join our final Community Jam?

My thanks to everyone who joined our "Keep Strumming" Community Jam to say farewell to the pandemic year. Get the Songbook and watch the replay here.  Ukulenny and I were joined by our U3 bandmate Abe Lagrimas, Jr. (check out Abe's brand new album "Beyond Words" here.) as we revisited some of our favorite Community Jam moments and songs from the past year!

As I mentioned last month, you can watch the replays for the full year via this Community Jams Playlist, and find all the livestream songbooks  as well.  All the Songbooks were made available to the public for free with the support of the Patrons. Thank you again for making it all possible!

See you online soon!

Aloha from Alaska! I'm a new Uke player and just joined Ms Lins Patreon group today! Wow....what a cool group! It's an honor to be part of Ms Lin's Membership, and I'm very grateful for all her dedication! There are tons of great information that she has provided! Thank you! 🌸🙏🏾🌸

Abi Boyd

Aloha! I'm a newbie, just joined last week. Learning slowly on the Ohana Cynthia Lin signature, which I love, and an Enya fusion. Would love to join a European time lesson as I'm in Scotland.

Ken (UKEn) Freestone

Hi Cynthia. I just tried this link in the news letter and the link is broken. Thanks for the updates and a great 100 days! 2. Hello! I’ve had my Ukelele (Mele purchased in Maui) for about 6 years now and at that time I played a little bit of guitar. Anyway, didn’t really use the Ukelele until I broke it out 2 weeks ago :). Cynthia, thanks to your tutorials I’ve been able to dive right in and loving it! You are an inspiration!

Caitlyn

Although I can't attend a UK friendly time due to work, I would love to help out anyway I can!

Clara

EU friendly event? Yes please 🙌

bruce wykes

Definitely up for a jam session in june. Nice time for us for a change. Well done

Eve

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie uke player. I started in Feb 2021 on a soprano uke (it has a wider fretboard so no problems with space for fingers) and I love it. One thing I'm working on right now is fast chord changes including chords like D or Emin. I love Cynthia's tutorials and jams (especially the jams) – it is so much fun. Would love a European Newbie Jam as I'm from Germany. Have a wonderful day, Eve

AntoMiami

Definitely a newbie as a ukulele player (I'm playing the piano in a jazz band). Got started a few weeks ago. I'm very interested as well in a beginner jam session. Antony from Paris, France

Lisa Jensen

Hi, I am a newbie Uke player. I just purchased a Tenor Cordoba last Thursday. I have been playing Mountain dulcimer for six years, so have some stringed experience. I am new to chording and strumming. I look forward to this journey. I am also very happy to have found you. Thank you for the great resource.

Suzanne Boulay

I am a ukulele newcomer, I'm 72 years old and live in New Hampshire, USA. I have a Concert Kohala uke that my husband gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago...and I love it. I joined a small uke group in a nearby town, but it ended during Covid, so I turned to You Tube for instruction - where I first saw Cynthia Lin and loved her teaching style. I learn slowly, but love the uke and hope to keep on improving! Thanks for your uke info.

John Michael North

I always attend the live lessons/jams no matter what the start time is, but I would also love to take part in any jam at a UK/EU friendly time.

Alyse Arehart

Hi, I’m very happy to find this community. I’ve been playing on and off for a couple years, currently on a kala soprano, though I recently gave away a cordoba concert which I really loved. I don’t have a group. I like to pick and I play Blackbird and First Day of My Life. I really enjoy playing for friends. I’m interested in taking my playing and singing to a higher level.

Regina Kohlmeyer

Thank you for considering an EU friendly lesson. I would like to join it. Regina from Germany

Lynn Abbott

Does anyone know where the part 3 is to Stairway to Heaven please

Mareike Erlmann

Aloha and Servus from Austria 🌺🏔️ Yes, please! Europe-time events would be awesome 👍🏼

Paulo and Jenny

Thanks Cynthia and Jenny for thinking about a EU timezone friendly event. I would definitely join - based in Germany. If you need help with organising, feel free to contact me. Happy to help.

Angie McCurdy

I am interested in the UK friendly play along times, even though I am in Eastern standard time. Early afternoons work out great for me…

Jessica Thurston

Hello, I'm a new Patron as of the end of last month. I've been following Cynthia for awhile now and am so glad to be able to support as a Patron! Pleased to meet you all!

Michael Keating

Will try and join on the 18 from UK. Always watch after event as a little late for me. S9 this is great. Best wishes to all. Watched Cynthia and Lenny who just bring me joy and although I am no musician I never thought I would be as enthusiastic about being able to play a few tunes. All down to you all. Keep up the good work. Best wishes to all.

Carynn Paulsen

Hi, I'm new too! I am a pandemic newbie, I have been playing a year now first on an Alvarez Grateful Dead concert, but more recently on my new soprano. I LOVE the tiny size, it fits me perfectly! I joined as a patron to learn Stairway to Heaven as soon as I got my Alvarez concert re-strung as low G and I love love love it! Thank you! Any chance you have the guitar solo available?

Charrissa Lin

Hi! I'm a new patron! I never thought I'd be playing the ukulele. But we took a much-needed pandemic escape trip to Oahu in January. I was listening to all my old Hawaiian music that I had bought from past trips to Hawaii and it inspired me to buy an ukulele (tenor). So I've been learning since February of this year. I've worked through the beginner sets and am looking forward to finding others who are enjoying their musical side and also to learning more music!

Britta Rey

Hello everybody, I would definitely like to attend a Europe-time-friendly live jam on a Thursday. I attended Jenny’s Zoom jam last month and it was awesome. Won’t be able to do it this month unfortunately, but I’m always looking forward to a Europe time zone activity 🤗🙋🏼‍♀️

Stefanie Oepen

Would definitely love a live jam in EU time zone. That being said I should point out that this is not my current Patreon level so maybe my vote should not count.

jayne northcott

United Kingdom We would like to join a uk friendly Thursday jam. We have attended one of Jenny's Tuesday jams which was great, but Thursday is better for us. We are away a lot over the next few months, but will attend when we can.

Bob Potter

I would be interested in Thursday UK time friendly Jam. X

Lynn Corin

Me to to a UK-time-friendly jam on a Thursday!

Paulo and Jenny

I can see one jam in the calendar today but there's no zoom link... Where can I find this information?

Jenny Selig

Hi, Carynn! Cynthia has said she does not plan to teach the solo. I found it on another site with a quick google search.

Clinton Whiteley

Hey everybody. I am new to the group. I started plying 2 years ago, stopped for a bit and recently picked it back up. My wife just got me a new Kala Concert Ukulele for our 15th wedding anniversary, so I am really excited to get back into it.

Janet

This is Janet and Gord from Victoria, BC Canada. Just joined and loving your site, 2 days in. We have Mele ukes, tenor and baritone, purchased in Maui, before Covid closed the border. Can’t wait to go back!

Aden

Hi everyone, my name is Aden, I'm from Germany and I just joined the group yesterday. I bought a Ukulele on my honeymoon in 2019 and dabbled a bit in playing but I want to dedicate more time now and really improve. I really like Bossa Nova and I am already working my way through the intermediate on it.

Charlotte

Hi everyone, I'm Cha and I'm from France! I just joined you after finishing the 100 days project for the firts time! I'm playing since 3 years, I've learned all I know with all the videos of Cynthia Lin mostly (Thank you very much!). I was very shy to sing when I was playing and now I try a lot more and it makes me progress a lot.

Tori Moo

Hi Aden! Welcome. How are you getting on with the Bossa Nova?

Aden

I got the hang of the rhythm and the chords/changes from the intermediate tutorial. Now I gotta find a few more nice and jazzy chord progressions to mix it up.

Bronwyn

Hello, I’m new! My 11 year old daughter and I have been learning with Cynthia on YouTube for about 5 months now. Loving it. We just need to keep going.
