Community announcements

💯 Join our 100 Days "First Friday" Check-in TODAY (March 4th) - watch here (will be recorded for replay anytime using the same link).  This year's 100 Days of Ukulele Project started on February 13, and today is Day 20!  We're going live at 12pm Hawaii Time to talk about the journey thus far, and share ideas about building a sustainable daily practice.  Want to find out more about the project?  Check out our 2022 Project Kickoff.   All levels of players can participate in sharing their daily ukulele practice - it's all about your creative journey.  Join the Facebook group or follow the instagram hashtag #100DaysUke2022 to cheer on the project participants.  Feel free to comment below and share your thoughts or questions about the project, if you're participating or following along.

🗣 The Vocal Workshop tier will continue as the new "Voice & Performance" tier - thank you to my Dec-Feb Vocal Workshop students for helping me develop this new class.  It will now be a regular twice-a-month class with a vocal lesson followed by personal coaching, and all classes will be recorded for replay.   It will continue to evolve with the folks who join this tier.  To accommodate Patrons joining live across global timezones, the rough schedule is an Early Class at 10am Hawaii Time on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, and the Late Class at 3pm Hawaii Time on the 4th Tuesday.  To join, go to https://patreon.com/join/cynthialin and choose the $30 Voice & Performance tier.  Be sure to change the Tier and not just the amount.  You will only be charged for the difference in upgrading your tier.  Once you've changed your tier, you will be able to access previous Voice posts and catch up on Lessons 1-6 here.  Post your questions below, and hope to see you in class!  If you've been taking the Voice classes, what would you tell folks who are curious about the class?

⏰ Double-check times for live events this month: Daylight Savings in the US "springs forward" on March 13th - this time of year gets complicated, with Daylight Savings transitions on different weekends throughout the world.  Our live events will stay aligned with Pacific Time through this season, but I would like to gradually transition to a Hawaii Time schedule (where we do not practice Daylight Savings) so that live events will be at consistent times throughout the year.  Check the Patron Google calendar to confirm times.  We will include a time converter on all events during this month's time shifts.

Look forward to seeing you online soon!

Hello! Brand new member! My wife and I just played along with some of your videos last night. I learned around five chords last night. My fingers were slow but my heart is full!

Nneka Myers

Hi! New member and excited to participate in the beginner jam (did I miss an update for that? haha). A little more about myself, I'm from Toronto, Canada and I started ukulele on xmas day after having a soprano pineapple in storage for 7 years! My memory was becoming poor with the pandemic and my seasonal depression/overall loneliness was skyrocketing. I finally gave ukulele a chance and I've been hooked ever since I got over the initial finger pain with fretting lol. I look forward to learning and wish I could have an instructor locally irl but I love Cynthia's videos a lot so this is the next best thing for me in the winter season 🥰 Excited to be here and grow with everyone!

Rebecca McComas

Hi, also a brand new member and I'm from Minneapolis, MN. I've been playing uke for a few weeks (Enya Nova concert) and attended my first live jam locally last week. I'm excited to become part of this community and build my uke skills!

Leone Steele

Hello! I'm new to the page. I always enjoy Cynthia's beautiful singing and playing. I don't sing but earn my keep in a couple uke bands by fingerpicking, playing lead bits, riffs and fills. I have been playing quite awhile. I would like to get better at all those things, including strumming, and feel this is the place for inspiration. Thank you for all you do!

Corey Samo

Hi There! I live in Sonoma County, in northern California. I've been playing for several years. I'm currently playing a Kala Archtop Tenor. I really need work on finger picking and technique. I'm more of a strummer.

Rick Elizaga

Hi! I'm originally from Washington state and the Bay Area, California, but now living in Kyoto, Japan. I started playing ukulele about 5 years ago when I began taking singing lessons as a light hobby. As I continue with my hobby I find myself wanting to spend more and more time making and sharing music. I play a soprano Kala with a low G (and an added L.R. Baggs pickup that hasn't gotten much use yet). I like trying Beatles songs, 80's and 90's pop, jazz standards. A few days ago, I joined this year's 100 Days of Ukulele Project (on Day 26) on Instagram, and it's stretching me in all sorts of good ways. Thanks for spreading the joy of ukulele!
