Aloha, Patrons!

G'day from the Sunshine Coast, Australia!  I'm visiting my family here for the first time since lockdowns began - Aussie friends, I wasn't ready to coordinate a uke event this time, but please know that I will be back before too long and look forward to gathering Patrons together.  I'll be posting vlogs and vids from my trip on Instagram, follow me there @cynthialinmusic - and watch my 1st travel vlog here.  I'll be taking 2 weeks off from 5@5, but will still be posting for my 100 Days Project.

Because of my travel, this month's schedule of Patron live events has been adjusted slightly.  Patron events are always up to date on our Patron Google calendar.  Any questions, please comment below.

Welcome to all the New Patrons who've just joined us!  Please introduce yourself, take time to look around, check out our Welcome Guide / FAQ post, and learn to use the Cynthia Lin Song Index to find lessons and videos.  See the bottom of this post for resources to get started in our community.   We're so happy to have you here!

Community announcements

🎸Beginner Live Jam + Zoom Social meets this week, Thurs April 7 - I will stream the Live Jam and host the Zoom Social from the Sunshine Coast (and hopefully give you a glimpse of the beach and waves here, if weather and WiFi permit!).  Will share Jam info shortly in a separate post.

💯 Congrats to our 100 Dayers on Day 50! - watch here for our latest First Friday Check-in on Day 48.  If you're new and want to find out more about the 100 Days of Ukulele Project, check out our 2022 Project Kickoff.  You can join us anytime, to observe, or to jump into your own project.  All levels of players can participate in sharing their daily ukulele practice - it's all about your creative journey.  Thanks to Jenny Selig and the admin/mod team/group leaders for creating a supportive, encouraging space.

⏰ Continue to double-check times for live events this month re Daylight Savings - I am gradually transitioning to posting all events in Hawaii Time (where we do not practice Daylight Savings) so that live events will be at consistent times throughout the year.  You can always check the Patron Google calendar to confirm times.  We will include a time converter on all events during this month's time shifts and YouTube live events will give you a countdown when you click on those links.

Look forward to seeing you online soon!

Special note for new Patrons

If you are a new Patron, welcome!  Please introduce yourself in the comments below. I'd love to hear how long you've been playing, what kind of uke you play, if you have a group to play with, what songs you've been working on, or anything else you'd like to share.

I recommend all new Patrons check out our community WelcomeGuide/FAQ post.  Please be patient as you get familiar with the Patreon platform. I promise it will get easier to use if you take time to look around. If you have a question that the WelcomeGuide/FAQ post doesn't answer, please comment there to help us continue to update the FAQ.

To find a specific song or lesson, learn to use the updated Cynthia Lin Song Index.  Thank you to the Community Managers for creating and maintaining this helpful resource.

If you have more questions about Patreon, I encourage you to post your questions to one of our Community groups. Our community has tons of friendly folks who love sharing their uke experience. Our private Facebook group is particularly active, and we've streamlined the steps to join. Request to join right on the Facebook group page, and be sure to answer BOTH membership questions so Community Managers can verify your Patron status. Scroll to the Community Notes section at bottom of this post for more ways to join and post to our Community.

Seasoned Patrons, I always appreciate it when you help me answer any newbie questions in the comments of this or any post.  Thank you! Feel free to post your questions in the comments as well.

Morning friends, i've been a patron since January but have not posted, message room jitters, I guess. I've been playing just about daily since November of 2021 and have recently finished building a uke with a friend of mine. Thank you for this community, the content is stellar and makes it easy for shy folk like myself.

Deb

Can someone in the Voice and Performance group tell me: Are the two lessons virtually the same, or are we meant to attend both if we enroll? I'm a "Lark" on Eastern Daylight Savings time, so not a night person, when all the fun live stuff usually happens on Pacific and Hawaii time :)

Greg Turner

Hi Deb, attend both as far as I am aware,I’m U.K. based so can only attend one now and then I watch the recording of the other one

Calice Montesano

Hi all! I’m Calice. Totally new to the uke community having received my first uke as a birthday gift last year by hubby. Got hooked on playing when I discovered your videos (you make learning fun!) Am here to learn and chat with folks in the uke community.

Jennifer Rangel

Hi All- Jennifer from Michigan here. I joined the community last month. I have been playing ukulele and a Lin fan for years. Joined in hopes of strengthening my strum. Watermelon Sugar video got me hooked! It’s fab! Look forward to making music with you all!

Emily Salt

Hi everyone! I've been playing Uke for nearly a year now and have been loving all the free chord charts and tutorials Cythnia Lin pumps out so I decided to join the Patreon to support and see what other awesome goodness I can join in on. First song that hooked me in was Banana Pancakes and after many many many months of practice, I have that one down. Working on Stairway to Heaven currently. I have a Concert Kala Brand Uke. :-D Cheers!

Holly W

Do we know what song to learn on April 21? Thanks.

Anette Paulus

Hi Ukelovers. I am from Germany and have just recently started playing. A colleague introduced me to the Ukulele during a workshop and school and I got hooked right away. I sometime practice for hours. I really enjoy Cynthias lessons that’s why I decided to join as a patreon. I have got a Kala Tenor and an Ohana Sopran Ukulele, which is my favorite right now. It always sounds sort of happy. I am really looking forward to trying out new lessons.
