This month's Live Lesson: "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Disney's Encanto
Reminder that we'll start with a review of last month's lesson: "Put Your Records On" by Corinne Bailey Rae
If you haven't heard the chart-topping hit "We Don't Talk About Bruno," get ready! My niece and nephews are obsessed with it, and we played it for one of our family jams when we were all together earlier this month. Here's the original song from the movie Encanto, and you can watch the clip of our family jam on facebook or Instagram. (the links should allow you to watch even if you're not logged in). I will release the full video as a play-along, so you'll see the full family version soon enough! (I can share a preview during the lesson!)
Now, it's not an easy song, but as usual, we will start with a beginner version and add challenges as we go. The bulk of the song has only 4 chords, and I'll talk about why the barre chord options might be preferable here. I'm excited to share the challenge of this song's latin rhythm.
Join our Pre-Lesson Zoom Social
If you're free before the lesson begins and would like to meet and chat with other Patrons on Zoom, join me before class for a Zoom Social from 2:00 to 2:25pm. (We'll end the Zoom before the lesson, and still go to YouTube for the lesson). For new Patrons, you can meet Patrons and ask questions. For longtime Patrons, you can get to know your fellow Patrons a bit more. Talk about your ukes, share the songs you're currently working on, and connect with fellow Patrons from across the world. It will be casual, you can drop in anytime, and we'll use the Zoom breakout rooms to move into smaller groups for chatting. Click here to go to the Zoom Social, or use Meeting ID: 876 1498 3301, Passcode: aloha.
Please comment if you're planning to join the Zoom Social, or you're interested in helping out with more Zoom Socials in the future. Hope to see you there!

A note about our monthly Live Lessons
My goal is to teach and arrange a lesson that is interesting for all levels. I will walk through the lesson by starting with beginner-level strumming, and gradually layer on more challenging options for advanced players.
I encourage you to play at your level, and embrace your own pace of incrementally leveling up. You can re-watch the lesson as many times as you like. Grasp the basics on the first go-round, and each time you review, you'll pick up new tips and techniques. You can use this method to become a better student and better learner - by building more awareness and more patience. :)
