Aloha, Patrons!

I hope November finds you well. This time of year, with Thanksgiving coming at the end of the month for us in the United States, we can focus on gratitude.  What is a way that you practice gratitude?  Feel free to share in the comments.  I set a couple of habit reminders - one to slow down, and one to be more generous.  Both of these help me to be more present and focus on the gifts of the moment.

I'm grateful to celebrate our 1st anniversary of 5@5 on the Cynthia Lin LIVE YouTube channel.  It's life-affirming to have a safe space to experiment and create.  Thank you to those who've been watching and supporting!  Fun fact, by moving 5@5 to YouTube, my parents have been able to tune in every week. ❤️

Community announcements

⏰ Daylight Savings - Check your clocks!  Please remember that all Patron events are now based on Hawaii Time Zone, which does not observe Daylight Savings and stays the same year-round.  If you've changed clocks in your time zone, then your Patron event start time will change.

🍎 Ukulele Teaching Course Plans - In October, I announced my intention to create a Teacher Training series, in conjunction with a 6-week beginner ukulele class, this coming January. See this post for more details and a link to the interest form. 

🎸 New! BASS JAM with Ukulenny!  I'm on a mission to learn U-Bass, and I have finally convinced Lenny to lead a Bass Jam!!  If you're interested in learning the bass, join us on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6pm Pacific, right after my 5@5 show.  I'll be co-hosting the Bass Jam as part of Ukulenny's Patreon - once you join, you can watch his U-BASSics workshop from last month to get the BASSics. :)

🗣 Voice Student Video Submissions - Teaching voice has reminded me how important it is to work with folks one on one, as we each need different guidance on our creative journeys.  I am now inviting Voice Workshop tier students ($30+) to submit videos for feedback.  If you'd like to get personal feedback, come join the Voice Workshop.

October 2022 Recap - News, Patron Events and new Videos:

• There were 4 live voice lessons in October ($30+ Patrons).  Voice students are encouraged to submit a video for feedback!
• In our Beginner Live Jam ($10+ Patrons), we reviewed my original song "Zombie Heart" and jammed using the Beginner Songbook.
• For our Live Lesson, I taught my arrangement of The Cure's "Lovesong." This lesson is now availalbe to All Patrons ($1+).
• For the Intermediate Live Jam ($20+ Patrons), Ukulenny joined us to teach a more advanced reggae strum and soloing techniques on "Lovesong."
• I released my arrangement of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" with a new video and shared a lesson with all Patrons.

Special note for new Patrons

I recommend all new Patrons check out our community WelcomeGuide/FAQ post.  Please be patient as you get familiar with the Patreon platform. I promise it will get easier to use if you take time to look around. If you have a question that the WelcomeGuide/FAQ post doesn't answer, please comment there to help us continue to update the FAQ.

To find a specific song or lesson, learn to use the updated Cynthia Lin Song Index.  Thank you to the Community Managers for creating and maintaining this helpful resource.

If you have more questions about Patreon, I encourage you to post your questions to one of our Community groups. Our community has tons of friendly folks who love sharing their uke experience. Our private Facebook group is particularly active, and we've streamlined the steps to join. Request to join right on the Facebook group page, and be sure to answer BOTH membership questions so Community Managers can verify your Patron status. Scroll to the Community Notes section at bottom of this post for more ways to join and post to our Community.

Join our private Facebook group: In the Facebook group, Patrons can share videos, advice, support, and encouragement!  Be sure to answer both membership questions so that Community Managers can verify your Patron status. If you wish to connect and are not on Facebook, you can share a post on the Community tab here on Patreon. If you have questions about Patreon or ukulele or otherwise, posting the question to our very helpful and active Community will generate the fastest answer.
