Sarah Leifels

Hi Cynthia, My name is Sarah and I am a 42yo new Patron from Germany, living south of Bremen. First of all I would like to thank you very much for your work and the wonderful way of sharing your ukulele knowledge. Your lessons, your easy to follow explanations and song sheets are definitely a true gem for a self-educating newbie as I am. ❤️ I started playing the ukulele with a very low budget instrument in February 2022. I primarily started playing to keep my head busy and I always try to squeeze in a few minutes of practise into my daily schedule of work and family life. By now, the first ukulele found its place hanging on the wall and I’m practicing on a low G tenor by Kala and a high G concert by D’Angelico - both second hand, but (in my humble opinion) beautiful to play on. The songs I first learned and still try to repeat on a daily basis to keep my fingers moving are House of the Rising Sun, Further On Up The Road (in some kind of Travis Picking style), Waiting Around To Die (also Travis Picking). I truly love your Stairway To Heaven lesson, but I need to practise some more time on the combination of strumming and singing. Getting the singing and strumming straight is definitely is one of my weak spots. Right now I am working on your lesson of Hotel California (which I love so so much, but again singing and strumming is A LOT for me 😅), You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive (still figuring out where to fingerpick or to strum and trying to solve my severe problem with the Bb chord) and I am also learning to fingerpick and memorize some part of the melody of Hedwig’s Theme, since my son is in serious Harry Potter fever right now, and I learned that me or my husband playing melodies on our instruments encourages him to do so on his own guitar. And of course, we are practicing on Christmas songs. 😄 Wishing all of you a beautiful day!

Djuna B

Warm welcom Sarah, I am also from Germany :-) south of Berlin. Lg DjunaB

Djuna B

I still work on lesson"The Scientist" but "Hotel Carlifornia" I love, too.

Kira

Hi, my name is Kira, also a new member here and also from Germany. Playing Ukulele is my fun time inbetween the studying, but I do it irregularly, mostly around christmas time. The uke, I´m playing is a low budget instrument, but I love it, because it was a gift from my brother and I´m looking forward, playing with him someday. And with others hopefully

Karen Bayly

I'm new. My name is Karen. I've been playing the ukulele for a while now, but the community group I visited once a month has disbanded. As I live in Australia, I probably won't get to join in the live sessions, but I look forward to getting inspired.

Paula Armijo

This Must Be the Place! Yay! I tried to do a version of this song when I was working on 100 days in 2022. Can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with for us Cynthia!! It is one of my fave Talking Heads songs. 💜

Cynthia Lin

welcome, Sarah! thanks for sharing! sounds like you're diving right in. glad to have you here in our community.

Cynthia Lin

welcome, Kira! low budget ukes are great, because you can make music without feeling any pressure. :) hope we get to jam together some day!

Cynthia Lin

welcome, Karen, g'day! we have a lot of Aussies here, hopefully you'll get to connect with them.

Fuzz Hill

Hello, I am excited to be joining this group - although I'll be limited in my participation this time around due to location difficulties - bit looking forward to joining you in " full force" next time. Cheers!

rafaela

Hello, I'm thrilled to be part of this community from Madrid, Spain. I started playing the ukulele just two months ago and I absolutely love it. I have a Lanikai concert ukulele, and I'm currently learning "Moon River" with Cynthia..

Julie Pharr

Hello, I have been playing ukulele for three years now. I am in two local groups. I love the ukulele and the community it creates. I just purchased a tenor Kala with a low G. I also have Amahi and Lanikai concert ukes along with a Gold Tone banjolele. Excited to learn from your tutorials!

Fuzz Hill

Hello Julie, yes you're right! I join live when I'm in Seattle, but play live on Wednesdays with my Sarasota friends when I'm on the Eastside. Love the various ways we can participate in the Ukulele community - whether live, online or via recorded playback - you meet the best people via this instrument! Thanks for saying hi!

Jan N

Aloha, I am Jan in Ventura County, CA. I've just hit my 1-year anniversary of starting to learn/play the uke and I love it AND I want to learn to be better and more confident in my different strumming patterns. Even in the beginner/basic mode, the music played brings so much joy and happiness to everyone, it is really a gift!

Alice Silva

Hello, I’m Alice and I’m from Santa Clarita, Ca. I’m new to this community. I just joined January 1st so Happy New Year to everyone. I’ve been playing for about 4 months, a newbie. I love my ukulele enjoy playing a little every day. 15 minutes always turns into an hour. 😊. It’s my happy place

Dáithí

I've been a casual/occasional ukulele player for three years, (I was given a beautiful cedar topped acacia tenor for my 70th), having been a guitar player for more than sixty years. Now I'm under pressure to lead campfire songs for a planned family camping trip in Africa (in March). I'm taking an all mahogany soprano. Cynthia is a gem. I discovered her talent while trawling Youtube to short cut the "find songs & learn them" process. So far I'm subscribed at the basic level. But we'll see how it goes. Guitar is my first love but the uke family is fabulous... and brilliant for a frequent traveller like me. Really looking forward to sharing with others.

John Keith

I found Cynthia Lin’s ukulele lessons on YouTube and enjoyed them so much I had to become a Patreon! There’s so much here in the Intermediate Level! I can see I made a very good decision to join and I look forward to learning a lot about this wonderful instrument. I have an old Martin Soprano Ukulele that’s been dated at about 1918.
