I have a ton of issues with Stefan and Elena's first time together. Better addressed next episode. But it deeply disturbs me that Elena emphasized early in their relationship that secrets are a hard boundary for her. And she consents to this intimacy under the belief that they're sharing a fully open, honest relationship now (emphasized by her telling him not to hide his vamp face), and she's consenting under the belief that her perception and understanding of their relationship is true. None of this is the case, and Stefan knows this.

i will be curious for the book-readers to come out of the wood-work eventually and tell us how much or little of these events were in the books the series is loosely inspired by. (FYI, i've never felt so bad for an author before reading her biography).

I love that you keep calling people out in this show. 😄 and YES, I agree with this. Stefan has been lying and gaslighting her way too much. Elena only knows he's a vampire because she put it all together, so it makes me wonder how long would he have waited before he told her. Before or after sleeping together? Before or after she fell inlove? She keeps saying over and over again how honesty is important her and he pretends to respect it.

The power imbalance is so icky, swept under the rug, and written off that it's ok simply because "we know Stefan is a good guy". I hate the messaging 😑 From Elena's POV this is a nightmare situation/dynamic

I have to say this series is very different from the books like I guess core parts are right but Elena’s brother in the books she has a sister who is like super young and the exclusive of a certain female character but I understand cuz it could of been problematic if they way people react to PLL with teacher student relationships which does not even come in to this show cuz they cut it out completely so it’s definitely different from the books to me it’s like watching a show I know nothing about the same with true blood the books are different

Why would I talk about Damon concerning Stefan and Elena first sleeping together? Yes Damon does a lot wrong rn, he's the antagonist wishy-washy with his humanity. Stefan is the protagonist in touch with his full humanity.

I love how the last few episodes really transition the show to a true ensemble piece - every character has an increasing impact on the main plot and have actual conflicting interests that the writers can play with. The Logan/Damon scene is a perfect example - Damon heard the magic words and immediately switched sides. Everything is so dynamic and messssyyy!!! So excited to hear your insights!!! 👀👀👀

Love when episodes pick up right where they leave off. The Amazing Race: Vampire Edition. I would watch the hell out of that. The scenes of Damon & Logan were so tense. Stefan telling Logan not to threaten him in his serious tone was 🥵 Oof Logan & sheriff Forbes going face to face was intense. Not Logan kidnapping Caroline. This poor girl can’t catch a break. The mayor trying to force Tyler & Jeremy to fight was crazy. Loved Alaric standing up to the mayor 👏🏼 Damon & Stefan saving Caroline 🙌🏼 Stefan trying to hide his vampire face from Elena 😭 Such a sweet scene. Alaric taking out Logan tho. Elena finding the picture of Katherine! 😳 Not her leaving the vervain necklace. She has no survival instinct 🤦🏽‍♀️ The car crash! Hooded figure getting right back up? Excuse me? I forget how intense these cliffhangers can be. Appreciate hearing your breakdown and thoughts as always 🖤

Cody, you touched on exactly what I was going to comment. Seeing the difference between Damon and Logan makes Damon look like a harmless bunny by comparison. It's such a good way to show that "hey, vampires are actually terrible monsters, what you've been dealing with thus far is actually incredibly tame"
