Wow, this one was on another level and of course tears were had! So many great performances and the song at the end might be our favorite of the whole season so far!

Molloy interviews a difficult Lestat about his Paris acting days, past relationships, and transformation, while Louis handles unfinished business in Detroit.

This episode might be my favorite of the show. I almost cried because the music video was just so perfectly camp I couldn't even laugh.

kim wexler

gloomygraveyardgirl

sobbed the last 15 minutes of this episode (thank god they put a trigger warning). Such an incredible episode and all the actors are amazing. Sam Reids voice is so chefs kiss.

Millie

OMG YES!!!! I’ve been refreshing all day. I HATE BEING IN A DIFFERENT TIME ZONE.

Bookwormy

I have been waiting to watch this with the two of you!

Bookwormy

Immediately, his butchering of Saskatchewan as a Canadian, also he's in my province eeeee

Jessica

The After Dark has been a little too coy teasing spoilers, IMO. I’m waiting to pick it back up once the season is over, even as a book reader.

un.filth.er.ed

I literally had to take a break after seeing "Claudia" because I SOBBED. I'M SO HAPPY THEY BROUGHT DELAINEY HAYLES BACCCCC!

Cyndy

Sam should be nominated for an Emmy

Jessica

Rewatch series when? 🥹🙏

Jessica

The pronunciation killed me. Did you see the tour location posters in the AMC shop?

Jessica

☝️🤓 know-it-all reporting for duty, as requested: this was a new reveal for the Cloud Gift and I screamed. He was practicing the Fire Gift since Paris with Armand. He burned Daniel’s laptop with it. Wonderful reaction. Love the insights as always. 💕

Jessica Jarvis

I could be wrong but I'm pretty Lestat never mentioned his mother to Louis, so he was lying to Daniel when he said he did. But Armand definitely omitted her because he doesn't care for her.

Tom

Just where you guys to know you can listen to the songs of the show on Spotify now just type in the vampire lestat

Jasmine Siller

Armand said in season 1 at the end As we age the sunlight loses it's power over us

Indi500

Louis definitely has the fire gift in season two of IVTW. Remember, he set Daniel‘s laptop on fire after throwing Armand into the wall? Armand taught him the fire gift in Paris. As for the cloud gift, Louis says that either you have it or you don’t. Usual But how would Louis even know that about being a vampire? He’s still relatively a baby! But maybe Armand taught him? Also, since this is from Lestat’s point of view, maybe he is saying that Louis should probably have the cloud gift and probably used it to do what he did at the farmhouse. Louis seems very cool from Lestats point of view lol. As far as I know, it seems like someone has to teach a skill to another vampire in order for them to utilize it.

Syd

After learning about the events that happened with Magnus in this episode, go and listen to the full version of 'Your Biggest Fan.' Those lyrics are so strong in relation to that story, making it one of my top songs from 'The Vampire Lestat.' The Loneliness is also a favorite now.

Syd

Yes, when ya'll are done, please rewatch from season 1, you will pick up on a lot. In season 2, you see Louis learning how to do the fire gift. Armand can walk in the sun because he is older. You can learn the abilities because in season 2 flashback, Armand talks about Lestat learning the cloud gift and dipping not too soon after that.

Leona H

It might be too early to say, but this ep is def my favorite of the season (maybe the whole show). Everyone did so well, and the music just keeps getting better. I love what they're doing with this story. Also, in the second season, Louis was learning to use fire with Armand but when Dan asked if he had the cloud gift he said no. So I too was very shocked when he flew up to the 2nd story window 😂

Bookwormy

No one likes us already, you had to mispronounce and dislike timbits?? cmon man, you were kinda nice to the francophones

Bookwormy

Also, omg they have posters???

pamysue

I didn't watch this show when it came out. I read the first novel when it was released when I was a teenager. Also when Stephen King started publishing and I found my love for horror novels. When the IWTV movie came out, I was psyched to see the book brought to life. I was then disappointed. Horribly so. So I thought I would just watch your 3x1 reaction but 10 minutes in could see this was far different. So now I have binged the first season, getting on to the second and will be catching up with you all on 3 very soon. This is so intriguing of an adaptation. Thanks for turning me on to it.✌️💖

Stephanie Butler

The tower! I did not notice that the first time watching but it falling definitely means or is the result of something - don't think we know yet what that is, but should be interesting

Rebecca Snyder

Hoo boy, this one broke my heart. Hearing the missing pages from Claudia's diary while seeing what happened to Lestat... Ow. But the song at the end was pretty healing, so at least there was some catharsis at the end of the heartbreak. I am so curious and excited to see what happens with Daniel and Armand this season! I agree that I think he's feeling abandoned (that "transformational trauma" that Lestat keeps poking at). And then Armand at the end made me SO curious... and concerned. Why is he at a meeting for addicts/what is he addicted to? And even moreso: why is he going by Arun?! (In case you don't remember: that was his name when he was very young and... either captured by slavers or sold into slavery by his parents, depending on which version of his story you believe... or maybe neither of them is true, because as you guys pointed out, NOBODY here is a reliable narrator! He also used it in bed with Louis--"Maître" and "Arun".) As for the gifts: Louis definitely had the fire gift at the end of season 2, as he used it to set Daniel's laptop on fire. (And I think I remember him setting the tapes on fire in season 1...?) But I'm pretty sure he said that he didn't have the cloud gift. Armand definitely mentioned that the ability to walk in the sun is connected to the age of the vampire, though.

Jennifer

This episode was so good! His campy, hilarious music video version of his turning, where he smiled as he was bitten, is so Lestat. And then seeing the real, violent, horrifying truth while Louis is reading Claudia's diary pages of her own assault just ripped my heart out! Someone give our boy a hug, please!

Am I the only one who just doesn’t give a shit about Lestat? Like I love the continuation of the show but like I feel like we’re watching just an egotistical white man on a power trip.

Melanie Z

Okay, but I can’t get past Lestat knowing where Moose Jaw is

Kitty Underwood

I still have and use my Pandora account from 20 years ago lol

DewLeepa

or anywhere else, because spotify ran ice ads and their ceo uses earnings from the platform to fund drone and ai technology for militaries

Joshua Shields

Daniel is so far off the wagon - we've seen him doing drugs & alcohol which as a human he was going to AA meetings for, and his new addiction might be blood straight from the source.

Alex Montrose

Sam Reid is turning it OUT this season! He is acting like the rent is DUE huni!!!!!!!! But yeah. I cannot wait for you guys to see some of the stuff that's coming. Just gonna say...add a box of tissues to the shopping list. For the fun and the not-so-fun reasons!

Alex Montrose

Louis having the fire gift is a total show invention. A part of the lore of the novel is that Lestat is actually shocked by how weak Louis is as a Vampire. Especially because he was made after Lestat had drunk from Akasha. Louis is one of the least magically gifted Vampires in all of the Chronicles. Part of what draws Armand to him is the fact that he is very close to humanity still.

BattyT

Loved the reaction, this was such a devastating episode. A masterpiece imo. The way we got those flashes of camp and humor, and that facade strains and then breaks apart with the climax of Louis reading Claudia’s words while Lestat is tormented by the memory of his own violation. And then we get catharsis with that raw and beautiful song. Lestat poured his soul out in it and it gives me chills. It speaks so much to people who have gone through similar situations. And then seeing Regina/Claudia made me cry even harder. Anyway Sam Reid deserves all the acting awards

Leon Watts

This ep is outstanding

Indi500

I always try to keep in mind that this is an adaptation of the book series. This Louis is not the same as the book Louis, so we can't expect him or any other character in the show to be a 1 to 1 recreation of their book counterpart. That's what makes the show so fascinating 😁.

V V

i love cody's media literacy and sergio's lack of it lol

V V

ist every vampire in the books drawn to louis because of his beauty and humanity
