We are officially back!! These next two episodes definitely had a different tone to the previous episodes but they were very interesting. Some more on the creepy and bleak side but definitely filled with twists! On top of another tragic Dean revelation 🥺

The Winchesters try to stop a family from moving into a haunted house.

Wendigo episode Dean said himself " I don't do shorts".

Max The Bird

Im trying to quit smoking at your guyss videos couldn't have come a moment sooner. Im dying, but this is a good dopamine boost to keep going.

Jim Carter

I need someone to tie me to a bed for 3-4 days. I have tried quitting, but it's so hard. I hope you succeed.

deanandsamAO3

Sam is so cute, especially in a suit. Dean is just as handsome. :)

J T

Most terrifying episode to date.

Max The Bird

Currently my mind is screaming to get some smokes, but I promised my friend Id quit, so im just internally arguing, sometimes crying. Im getting there though.... I believe you can too, its hard but, my friend says when you feel like your losing, thats when youre winning...

SaraPetrova

Yay!!! So happy you guys are back!!

Stacey H

So happy you guys are back! It’s always so creepy when it’s just people. Great reaction!

krissi 🎃

Cody mentioned Black Christmas. And watching this episode with yall, I just realized that the actress that played Ms. Curry (the lady they talked to after sending the family away), was also Billy's Mother in the 2006 remake!

LeslieW

I'm pretty sure jensen said recently he'd like to play Indiana Jones. Would do an awesome job I'm sure.

Pat_Bez

Good luck! And lemme know how you do/ any tips or tricks you might have cuz I hafta quit pretty soon actually

LeslieW

Dean d I'd amazing holding out that long. I doubt I'd last a month.

Didi Aylin

The twist of the monster being and inbred "abused" person reminded me of BARBARIAN, loved it too !

Max The Bird

Aaaah.... toothpicks, and dont just have em in your mouth, pantomime smoking, do the breathing you usually do when you smoke... it sounds silly but, it helps Also, take some of your smoking fund and splurge on snacks you like... you'll hate yourself but you cant buy smokes after AND you have a bit some something to nibble on.

Max The Bird

Good luck dude, I expect to see you in the comments next week, I'll check on ya

Astoria

No joke, that scene with Jensen in the partition walls, and when he went down that hole, it really gave me a lump in my throat. The thought of having to film that scene would have sent me into a level 5000 panic attack.

Sophie

Everyone looked familiar except the mom? That is Helen Slater, she was the original Supergirl back in the 80's 😂

Astoria

Given his bow legs, it’s hardly surprising that Jensen isn’t a fan of that… Although… It does remind me of a certain blooper 🤣

Sophie

Btw no spoiler, but we will see Dean in shorts.

MidnightSilver

This one isn’t my favourite episode but I came to watch it just to see your reactions and I had a great time watching through your eyes 😄

Cellin . V

Why is the Image Quality of the Episode so inconsistent ?

Allie Bagz

This episode was kind of sad to me.. I felt thinking of those poor kids never having a decent parent lol I see things in a weird way

Astoria

Dean said he was tortured every day for 30 years, ‘torn to pieces’ every day, and by the next day he was whole again, and it would start all over until he could take no more and said yes. For 10 years, he did to other souls exactly what he had endured himself over those 30 years. It would be worse if it didn’t torment him so much. It shows very clearly how much of his soul has returned, but it also explains why Ruby is so ‘special’. She has been through centuries of this, became a demon, and yet still retains a part of her humanity.

lelmDR.WHO

I love episodes like this that are so good they could be their own stand alone movie

Ebony

I will never forget the gasp that escaped me the first time I saw this episode and she stepped over that salt line. Young me was gagged lmaooo

RavenLord

I can't watch this episode because of the animals; that's my dealbreaker. I skipped around a bit though to get your reactions and the resolution, so it's all good. See you on the next episode!

Purple Nurple

It might be your wifi at home or even your browser. I find on certain streaming sites Google Chrome fluctuates quality massively for me.

jirachii

this is easily one of my favorite episodes in the first half of the show

Rebecca Snyder

You can also check your quality settings if you're using the app. Mine likes to randomly reset itself to Auto sometimes, which makes it really inconsistent.

Abby Traum

yes!! I love the few human episodes and how Supernatural always reminds us that monsters make sense.... but humans are crazy

CattFink!

I'm not sure, but I think I'm part of the outgroup on this one. This might be among my bottom 3 episodes. I just cannot force myself to enjoy depictions of child victims of poverty and negligence and worse, if I'm remembering right .. especially when they're shown in kind of ridiculous ways. Also, I feel like the writing becomes progressively sloppier. I don't know. Using humans as the MOTW works for me, this particular episode has always made me feel icky. Not because it was well created art that got to me, instead because I think it was a bad decision and lazy and it sucked overall. I'm suuuuuper glad we're all back though. So for real.

AJ

You got this!! 💪💜

CattFink!

Glad I'm not totally, utterly alone in my opinion on this particular episode.

AJ

Omg we SO need a therapist on this show

Ellorna

Lol oh, oh ya'll. . . if you ever do buy a house just know that most home inspections are bs. They do not really inspect that well. Remember how Dean had to push on that wall to find the space where it separated? Yeah, the inspectors aren't doing that at all. They're also probably chalking up any smell to it being an old farmhouse. Same with any rustling they might hear in the walls. Definitely have someone inspect, but also like if you get a chance to look yourself make notes, bring them up, follow the inspector around and ask them to check things more closely, take pictures, etc. This episode is one of my top favs and I was so excited for ya'll to get to it. It's got such great twists and the emotional story arc is also amazing.

Michele

I like your discussions after the episode. I felt the same way, basically, when I first saw this episode. The human "monster" episodes seem to have an extra creep factor to them. I gave Dean a pass with his actions in Hell, given that he was in Hell. The other thing that hit me was realizing that Dean was on his way to losing his humanity. Throw back to what Ruby said about Hell in season 3. So seems like Dean was on his way to becoming a demon. That's something that would really mess with him, given how he feels about these things. You might like seeing Jared and Jensen's horror movies they did back between seasons 4 and 5 (2009). Jared did Friday the 13th and Jensen did My Bloody Valentine. It's also in 3D.

Jessica

I'm wondering if you've seen The People Under the Stairs (1991). I think it would be classified as a horror/comedy.

Yocchi Mae

I'm always waiting for you guys react to Supernatural huhuhu

pamysue

OMG, I'm sitting in my packed up house waiting to move on Saturday for the first time in 34 years and it's THIS episode!😕🤣 ENOUGH! 2 dead dogs in 2 days here! Please please show me your happy furbaby onscreen while I deal with the dead pups damage! FYI, there is an entire Supernatural Wiki site that answers all the lore questions. Here's a link to the Salt info: https://supernatural.fandom.com/wiki/Salt

pamysue

Keep at it, Max. I smoked for 30 years and didn't quit until I got cancer. Don't wait that long.✌️💖

Max The Bird

I gotta sleep here but I just wanna say thanks to all yall... I just expected to vent a bit but you all really have helped me get through this day. I frickin love you guys.

Heather

This episode gives me The Messenger vibes. If you haven’t watched The Messenger with Kristen Stewart yet it’s pretty good.

Heather

If you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking that’s my favorite episode.

Emma J Steele

This creepy AF ep reminds me of *that* episode in The X Files as well, that is well known for being creepy AF haha Nice to see you back at it!

Susie

I really feel that the writers went too far with Dean's hell experience in this episode. We get it, he was tortured and then did the torturing. Then they continued to pile on and it serves no purpose at all. I wasn't a fan of this episode, because I couldn't stand the story line and then they just ended it with the hell pile on. I only re-watched this time, because I do enjoy your reactions.

KatieBee

Yay! New episodes!

Alex Montrose

This episode is one I usually give a skip on re-watch. Not because it's not a good episode. It's just creepy on a different level to me. Not only is it one of only very few episodes on the show that doesn't feature any supernatural aspects (like the Benders in Season One) it's also inspired by a true case. In Australia there was a guy named Henry Fritzi who imprisoned his daughter and had several kids with her. This episode also references an urban legend called: The Licked Hand. Yikes!!!!! I love my boys, but this one is tough for me.

rosie

josef fritzl in austria lol but u right this episode is fuckin creepy

kayla ling

I think the thing about Dean in hell is he had no reason to expect it to ever end. He thought he was there forever, to be tortured for all of eternity and the only outlet he had was the torture he inflicted on others. I think if he had known he would be pulled out even if it was in 50 years he would have been able to hold out but forever is a long barrel to look down

card

I didn't remember this one. So, Barbarian (2022) the episode? Dean specifically mentions the real life Fritzl case in Austria, but I wonder if Barbarian took from that as well. Also, strange to cast such a famous and iconic actress like Helen Slater as just the mom.

Phouka H

One of the actresses here being in *that* X-Files episode too, does not make it less of a reminder at all! Both episodes are so good; sad and dark AF.

OQ

When they've made it to the end of the season, I'll come back to comment on that Ruby part. Within the respectful bounds of non spoilers, I will point out that I agree her ability to understand how humans think and feel indicates she retained a greater understanding of humanity that most demons seem to lose entirely during their hell-years.

LilyLane

It is sad that they really broke Dean in Hell. Classic psycology and so cruel. And isin't it funny that scariest episodes tend to be in Supernatural those that has nothing to do supernatural. Its like Dean says "supernatal I get it, people are freaks".

Cassie

How's it going? I quit smoking cold turkey almost 8 years ago, and it was brutal for the first 2 weeks or so but absolutely does get easier after that. Your wallet and health definitely thank you for it. Good luck!! You got this!! Chew mints when having a craving!

Eris

You have to keep in mind what Ruby said. All people who go to hell eventually become demons. The torture is the start, then they become the torturer and thats when the actual transition into a demon starts. Dean enjoyed it bc he was slowly becoming a demon the longer he was there and would have completely turned had Cas not pulled him out. He feels guilty about what he did, but hes not allowing himself to understand that was the point. He was turning.

Eris

My house was built in the 50s and is creaky, but its good bc I can always tell if someone is moving around in the house in the night without having to get up and check. An intruder wont know your house and will make a lot of noise so that'll help you if (god forbid) that ever happened.

Max The Bird

Its going good... now is day seven and my bud got me steak and perogi to mark the occasion, he says more to come next week if I get through it. Still have big cravings and feel depressed when I decline to act on them, but im hoping eventually not smoking wont make me internally angry at myself. For now, im just trying to take it one bit at a time... I like the mint idea, im gonna get some tomorrow, its smart!

Lucy

Dean is soooo Buffy Summers coded. Died for their younger sibling and came back only to have to claw their way out of their own graves, drowning in ptsd and suicidal tendancies 😭

Rhast

It's been so long!!! How dare you go on vacation! Only super old houses have walls thick enough for people. I doubt you would look at any house that had walls you need to worry about. But it is terrifying to think of. It's an old urban legend.

Jonathan Blevins

The Mom played Kara’s mom in CW’s Supergirl, she also played Supergirl in the 1984 movie!

Angy Hill

Don’t forget dodgeball..🤣💜

Anthony

I’m gonna start running into rooms the way Dean did “we heard screaming!” Lol Not Sam & Dean being compared to Scooby Doo!! Love the twist on the haunted house trope! Damn I forgot about the guy getting stabbed in the throat! Jensen once again acting his ass off when he’s revealing how he feels from he did in Hell.

I'm just Joe King

This one wasnt my fav. It was intense and interesting. Not as good as the others this season. Hope the next is better. I like the dialogue between Sam and Dean though.

bethannie

and was also in the cult 80s film the legend of billie jean 🥰

CleverlyCoCo

I've seen this episode around 5-7 times and I didn't notice until now that the Scooby Doo reference was foreshadowing that she wasn't a ghost!

GordBalle1013🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Mrs. Curry, the housekeeper is played by Karin Konoval who was in an episode of The X Files very similar to this one. It's one of the most controversial episodes of that series, the only episode rated TV-MA and was banned from syndication reruns after its original broadcast.

Trinity Bernhardt

I think understanding his mindset is super important especially explaining some of the decisions he makes. Just shrugging this off would have been a horrible choice. It also shows that there is darkness not only in Sam, but Dean has his own.

Blue Dragonfly

There is also House of Wax (2005). It is gross.

Michele

Thanks. I'd forgotten about that one. lol

~Athena~

I don't know if anyone has pointed this out in the comments, there's too many to read, but the mother is the original (as in the 1984 movie) Supergirl! Helen Slater :D

~Athena~

This actually reminds me of The People Under the Stairs a little, another movie I recommend you guys watch!

love4Cook

I tried to quit so many times and always went back to it. It’s now been about 13 years since I quit. Here’s what finally worked for me: 1- I used a hypnosis CD. Every day for 30 days straight I listened to it and followed along. 2- I treated it like an alcohol addiction. For me there is no “Oh, I’ll just have one or I’ll just smoke when I’m drinking (or whatever the activity is) because I will immediately fall back into doing it all the time. 3- Finding other ways to occupy my hands while I’m doing something like watching TV where I would just be smoking out of habit to have something there (same with the mouth, I do like the toothpick idea or chew on a straw). Good luck!

Jbug

I also wish you luck on this journey, for me after 20 years of being a pack a day smoker at first it felt impossible and often unbearable, after so many attempts through the years it worked out, now 6 years later i can't believe i did it. I wish you all the best 👍

Sanya Arif

well then you are definitely a simpleton arent you. Good thing individuals' opinions dont take way the brilliance of the writing, sis.

Sanya Arif

i am always amused at the sheer dismissal of writing because you personally dont like something or some aspect. You think writing 22 epsiodes across so many seasons is an easy feat. the most disrespected are the writers of the show who use their creativity and talent and then its dismissed as sloppy. As if you could write any better. Its fine to hate an episode or its contents but it doesnt make it badly written

Sanya Arif

I love anything Kstew lol

Sanya Arif

a better way to have had phrase that question was "does anyone notice image quality being inconsistent?" instead of this passive aggressive comment

Sanya Arif

yeah, the mom (apart from Dylan) was the one that I was surprised they didnt recognize lol

Susie

If you had a point to make, you should have simply made it without name calling. I don't believe that you understand how trying to insult my intelligence by name calling tells me a lot about your intelligence. Incidentally, people are allowed to have opinions that differ from yours and they are allowed to critique an episode or even the show without your permission.

CattFink!

Sit down. I didn't insult your short story collection or you in any way so there's no reason for you to feel personally attacked. You are, however, making a ton of assumptions about my thought process. I legitimately think this was a poorly written episode and an unimaginative story. I think it lacked creativity and leaned on tasteless, harmful tropes instead. I think that's gross. I didn't say anything disrespectful or dismissive. Your inexplicable assumption that I have no idea how difficult creative writing is or even how hard television writing is feels weird and misplaced. I don't appreciate that. Don't finger wag and scold because you feel morally superior. That's not what this is for. This is for fun and for everyone's opinion.

Kimberly S. (Rawr)

Absolutely brutal episode for everyone involved 💔 Gotta love a creepy intro. Damn that family immediately called their bluff by moving in anyways. Baby Dylan Minette cameo! Eww not her getting her hand licked 😭 Dean being so upset that she messed with his car is the most Dean thing ever 😂 Not Buster 💔 Them being actively hunted & her taking all their weapons & slashing their tires was so wild. This episode had twist after twist. The reveals were so devastating. Such a heavy themed episode all around. With all the supernatural monsters they face, sometimes humans are the true monsters. And poor Dean feeling that guilt for what he did in Hell & never feeling like he’ll be whole again is so tough to see 😭 Again, Jensen’s acting is superb 👏🏼 Even with these dark themes I really enjoyed your reaction 🖤

Abrielle Wright

The part I hate about the this episode is the dog dying

rickie woodson

Holy kryptonian batman! Its supergirl herself, helen slater!

rickie woodson

She is the only one i know by name and the dad i know from one episode of will and grace. lol the price of age

Sophie

True🤷‍♀️
