It's finally here! We sit down and watch probably one of our most anticipated movies of the year. You have no idea how much this movie made us uneasy and made our skin crawl, we jumped, we screamed at a CERTAIN character...you know who you are...and felt awful for our girl!

Hope you enjoy this reaction as much as we did! Also stay for our discussion where we go on a rant and list all of Bear's wrongs!

After breaking the mysterious "One Wish Willow" to win his crush's heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.

From Season 2 finale is still on the way, just need to get the youtube edit out and get it all to you. Running on very low sleep but I'm dedicated.

I saw this in theaters and it was a very okish movie for me. My favorite thing about it was the lead actress, she was incredible. The other actors and actresses were good as well, it's just the lead actress had more to work with and she did just that! I just didn't find the movie very scary or original, classic Monkey Paw. This was the episode of Buffy where Xander's spell for Cordelia to love him again backfired, or even a more gory and disgusting version of Get Out. The restaurant scene was copied right out of Get Out. I continue to be floored at all the recognition it got, it was enjoyable, but it was somewhere around a 6.5 for me (I do realize and acknowledge that in I'm the minority here). Having said that though of course I'm gonna rewatch it with 2 of my favorite reactors. I don't think it was awful, I'll openly admit I like plenty of bad movies, this was decent but you're some of the only people who could get me to sit through this again if I'm being honest.

It’s funny, because I came out of the movie thinking “I’m glad they made it so obvious that Bear was not a good person”, but then I saw so many straight men defending him and downplaying what he did. I think even the writer of the movie has come out and clarified that Bear is the bad guy, but it shouldn’t need saying. He was unequivocally the bad guy in the movie.

Also, when she did a theatrical telling of her story of Hansel and Gretel, you know the story. They’re siblings. Nikki’s story was about her and Bear, seeing him as a brother but he made that wish. Now she can’t help but want him inside her and she can’t stop it and honestly it’s so heart-wrenching and terrifying. Such good story-telling!!!

AHHH YES! I went to see this in theatres blind and was so surprised at how amazingly disturbing it was. I remember getting full body chills multiple times, laughing, being so angry and almost crying all from this movie. Don’t even get me started on when Nikki killed Sarah, that death scene was so jarring. And gosh our poor girl Nikki… I was just heartbroken for her the whole movie, the horror of being aware of your body but not being able to do anything is my worst nightmare. Inde killed her performance and deserves all the awards immediately🤩 Horror deserves so much more in general than it gets during awards season. Michael as Bear also did amazing, I hadn’t seen them in anything before and was so amazed!!! Loved your reactions, they were basically me in theatres LOL😅❤️

Normally I would be lusting after Michael Johnston, but not in this movie. Bear might be the villain of the year. He was so freaking selfish. The studio wanted Curry to change Bear and make him the hero, and Curry turned them down.

Definitely check out Milk & Serial! It's only an hour long, so it's a quick watch. Curry Berker said in his next movie (which is already filmed) there will be a small Easter Egg that tells the fate of poor Nikki. I assume she is in jail, but would love to be told otherwise!

Lol my bestie (who hates horror movies) just messaged me asking if I wanted to go see this movie in theaters and I was like isn't that a horror movie, are you sure? And she's like yeah so we went to watch it and I didn't know anything about this movie except it was a horror wish movie and I have to say as a cat owner I immediately hated this movie and my bestie scared me more than the movie cause she was clutching my arm the whole time. Honestly this movie was creepy but the only ones I feel for are Sandy, Sarah, and OG Nikki. I hated how loud this movie was though, the crying and shouting was just a lot but the whole thing could have been avoided if Ian just told Baron the freaking truth about him and Nikki hooking up like seriously what a shit friend. Anyway just got home from seeing this movie and noticed you posted a reaction to it so I'm going to watch your reaction now and see if we share any similar sentiments! Love you guys!

This movie genuinely unsettled me and no movie in the recent years has been able to do that. And it was so simple and only had a bit of gore and no jump scares really so it was really effective and so well done. We watched in the theaters and everyone was pretty much holding their breath the last hour or so. Great reactions, guys!

Ok. So, I’ve actually dated someone who was obsessed with me. To the point where if I took a shower they would just silently come into the bathroom and sit there while I showered, not making a sound. Then I’d pull the curtain back when I was done, and scream bloody murder cause they’d just be sitting there staring at me. And when I asked why they did that, they said “cause I love you and want to be close by”. Such a wierd turn of phrase to use in that situation. Freaked my shit out real bad. I literally had to lock the bathroom door in my own house, including when I went to the bathroom, just to get a few minutes of privacy and even then they’d knock on the door and try to get in. And I had to tell them to knock it the F off cause not only did it freak me out but I literally had to explain that “bathroom time is private time” 😂 and they would say I love you over and over and over again in a row. It was truly obsession. I actually did wake up once and they were staring at me while laying on their side in bed next to me. I screamed then too. After we broke up (cause of course I broke up with them), I caught their vehicle parked down the street sometimes, without them in it. Meaning they were milling and walking around somewhere looking at my house from some vantage point I couldn’t see. I blocked them on social media and moved about 6 months later, and never saw them again. And when I eventually did get married, it’s to someone who NEVER comes in the bathroom unbeknownst to me while I’m in the shower. Cause once was more than enough of that shit 😂

My first is about one of my own experiences with being the object of someone’s obsession. This one is to stress how much I fucking HATE BEAR. For doing that to Nikki. It reminded me so strongly of -spoilers for Buffy the Vampire Slayer- that time on Buffy when Warren used magic and tech to get his ex girlfriend to be with him again, against her true will. And they all three have her in their lair, and Warren makes her call him “master”, and they’re “gonna take turns” (vomit 🤮) with her; but before that can happen she comes out of the trance and tells them that what they have planned is rape. No more no less. And that is also what Bear is actually doing to Nikki in this film. This is assault any way you cut it. He robbed her of her autonomy and ability to make her own decisions with regard to intimacy with him. And had sex with her even after he knew it was the wish doing it. And that makes Bear a rapist and a piece of 💩. I hate him SO MUCH.

I know in some interview the actress who plays Nikki believes that she actually did potentially feel something for Bear. But regardless of that her free will was taken from her that it's not the point in the end. Like you guys mention, if her choice wasn't taken from her maybe she could've thought she could potentially give it a shot if he had the courage to just tell her.

This movie is so well done and so sad. I like to be delusional and think that Nikki got the 1 billion dollars and ran away and lived her best life (after several rounds of therapy) I watched this at the cinema and three young men sat next to me and they kept laughing (they laughed during the scene that is so obviously rape which is gross) and calling Nikki a crazy bitch. Which made the experience even more uncomfortable. Couldnt wait to get out of there tbh. (also please can we bring back stfu at the cinema???)And yes all the awards for Inde Navarette! Oh and sidenote! This movie is very similar to one of the plots in a supernatural episode you recently reacted to! (4x08)

Nikki didn’t make a wish, the possessed Nikki made a wish for bear to love her the same way she loved him, which stopped him from throwing up the rest of the pills and that’s what inadvertently killed him and saved the real Nikki.

I have to be honest. I was on Bear's side for a while, lol. I just figured he was going along with it for his and his friends safety. The scene where he asked the actually sleeping Nikki why it would be so bad to be with him. Yikes🤦‍♂️

I felt icky the entire film. The atmosphere was perpetually unsettling. Poor Nikki didn’t deserve any of that 💔 And justice for Sarah? Girl couldn’t catch a break 😭 Inde was fantastic as Nikki & a clear standout 🙌🏼 The way she was able to flip on a dime was so good! I enjoyed the film but I think I kinda overhyped it in my head a bit. Sure I enjoyed it but I wasn’t blown away by it if that makes sense. Is that a hot take? All & all I think this was a good psychological horror with deeper themes of control, codependency, violence, desperation & unrequited love. The true horror was Nikki not having agency over her own mind, body & actions & Bear allowing it to continue for so long. Her being taken advantage of by someone she considered a close friend is so tragic. Bear was so selfish! Her literally pleading with him to kill her was so heartbreaking 💔 Ugh & the way everyone kept thinking Nikki was taking advantage of Bear the whole time was hard to watch. I guess that says a lot about the perception even friends have when it comes to gender, relationships & personality archetypes like ‘nice guys’. Because Nikki was casually seeing Ian on & off they saw it as her playing with Bear’s feelings or getting back at Ian. I find that interesting but also so messed up 🤔 It almost feels like Sarah & Ian’s deaths were a product of looking the other way or not trying harder to figure out what was really going on with her. Or just obstacles trying to keep them apart in “Freaky Nikki’s” POV. And at the end everyone who essentially failed her ended up dead. Interesting detail 🤔 Definitely had more fun with the movie watching along with y’all the second time. Excellent reaction & breakdown guys! 🖤

I mean making the wish itself is bad enough, but can be excused when you remember he didn’t believe it was real. But the first glaringly obvious clue that he’s not a great guy was when he has sex with Nikki after he clearly realizes she’s not herself anymore. After that any benefit of the doubt I gave him was gone lol

Is his name Bear because of the Man or Bear conversation? Bear is too cute a name for him anyway. He BARON. Nikki didn't scare me at all, Baron did. This movie is horrifying, and what's more horrifying is that Baron isn't universally hated for completely taking her agency for his own selfish fulfilment. She had no control over her own BODY. He didn't want her for who she was, as a whole person, following her dreams, living her life how she wants to. He wanted her and that mattered most. He felt entitled enough to her to wish she loves him more than fucking ANYONE. More than herself, her family, her dreams. No. He's emotionally immature, he's a coward and he's a rapist. He deserved to have Nikki murder him with her own two hands and be cleared of all charges. That's what I wish for. If Baron lost all control of his body and life, there would be outrage amongst all men because they would never want that to happen to them. Nikki is the villain either way. They don't empathise with women well because they see us as a prize, an object, not a human being, not an equal. As is socialised and normalised within the current patriarchal social and economic systems. Edit: I love and appreciate that you covered similar things in your discussion after the movie ❤️

Nikki wasn't codependent, she was possessed by monkey claw magic. She had no agency. She didn't want any of it. I don't think it's a fair representation of actual codependency. It's kinda like a caricature of extremism. She even said that no one will ever feel a love like that. It's more than human codependency. Baron was codependent for wanting a love that sacrificed everything she was for him. Loving him more than anything, with absolutely no care about her agency, how she felt or what she wanted for her life. Besides that, I agree with you wholeheartedly ❤️

My thought process about Nikkis true feelings for Baron.. To me, she seemed relieved that he said he didn't like her at the start of the movie, not disappointed. Plus Nikki saying ew when Ian said she was Baron's girl, the friend saying Nikki didn't have feelings for him and Nikki saying no one knows if she has a crush when Baron didn't know about Ian. And.. she did talk about her "brother" being inside her in her poem... 🤢😭 I don't think she wanted a relationship with Baron at all. I think she appreciated his friendship and being able to talk to him openly. I think she wanted more with Ian but he didn't want that. Might be why Ian thought Nikki was doing it to get back at him. She had to have had something to be upset with him about to want to get back at him. Like, it's not super relevant either way because she lost her agency and all control regardless, but I personallyyyy don't think Nikki liked Baron ❤️

I didn’t mean codependency from actual Nikki. I meant more so from Bear. Even before the wish he seemed to be emotionally dependent on her. And too insecure to tell her how he felt. And that morphed into an obsessive possessiveness regarding her. Then throw in his narcissism & insecurities & you’ve got a massively toxic reliance on receiving her attention & affection, even if it’s not genuine. And the wish amplified & mirrored that back at him full force. I guess I should’ve said dependency prior to the wish. Then it turned artificially codependent with the wish magic. this is one of the most fucked up disturbing things I have ever seen I'm traumatized!! I don't know if Nikki can ever recover from this :(( the worst part is all those people at the party seen her acting crazy and being obsessive and possessive.... you know people will think he killed all three of them there is no way out of this. my god horrific :( this poor girl. also I know this wasn't Bear's intention at first but even when he knew smth is wrong he kept going I don't remember ever hating character as much as I hated him most of the movie

So, I just kept thinking "Buy another one! But another one!" for at least half the movie. "I wish my previous wish was canceled." And that whole scene with Sarah in the car I spent expecting Nikki to come crashing through the window.

I love and agree with everything you say, I just hate you saying "Men think this", you could say some men or most men think that way, because not all men think that way. I was literally crying for Nikki when I first saw this and I hated Bear for treating her like she was an object for his pleasure the whole movie. He only starts disliking what happened because it negatively affected him.

The way he sat through things like Nikki killing Sarah so passively like he had no agency was infuriating. How anyone could come away with any sympathy for him is mind-blowing.

I enjoyed Michael on the show Teen Wolf, but his role in this movie irritated me and disgusted me so much which I mean props to the actor for being able to portray a selfish cowardly POS so well. And with what I’m about to say, I understand there would be no movie BUT he genuinely should have just bought her one of the crystal’s from the shop whether she liked it or not, and he should have BEEN HONEST and just be like “Yeah I like you.” when she asked if he liked her. Because IDK if it’s just be but I genuinely think that Nikki did actually have a crush on Bear prior to making that wish. I think Sarah lied about Nikki only viewing Bear as a brother because she liked him, and like you said we only hear about these things from everyone BUT Nikki because when all this comes up the wish already happened. I don’t know if Ian and Nikki were hooking up, I think maybe Ian might’ve had a thing for Nikki and that’s why he was trying to sabotage Bear confessing how he feels about Nikki. Granted we never would’ve gotten this movie if Bear had told her the truth. This is also such a minor critique but I wonder if the film would’ve had the same effect if Bear told her yes he had feelings for her, and she said she didn’t feel the same way and he still made the wish anyways. His character is already a POS in my eyes and he’s the true villain but I think if he knowingly made this wish after she doesn’t reciprocate his feelings it would’ve made me despise him a little more than I did. IDK I really enjoyed this movie, I thought it was really good the way they filmed it with the shadows, lighting, the plot, and the acting from Inde was phenomenal. She definitely deserves to win some type of award and I actually would enjoy seeing her in another horror film. We only got a short amount of time of the actress as “normal Nikki” so it would also be nice to see her in a not so crazy role to see what her acting range is like. Then again the way she was in and out throughout the entire film having not only you guys but me on edge and uneasy with her going from normal to crazy, to sad, to angry maybe this was a good role to see her range 😂 I’ve watched a couple of reactors watch this including the both of you and all of them seem to have the same uncomfortableness that you and I did which is understandable.

I love that Curry Barker already confirmed that they are going to turn this into a whole franchise, because there is just SO much you can do with the whole "One Wish Willow" thing. He said he probably would not try to explain how any of the "magic" of the willow works in future projects, or who the person on the phone behind all of this is, because he enjoys not knowing, cause it makes things more interesting and mysterious. Curry even said he never thought about any of that really, cause knowing too much makes things less creepy and he prefers for the whole "magic" of it all to stay mysterious and unknown. I love that so so much. Anther thing he said is, if they wanna do a series of this of some sort, it's not all going to be horrible stories like what happened in Obsession with Nikki. He said he wants to make positive endings too, funny stories, happy stories, sad stories, romantic or heartbreaking ones and of course more disturbing ones like Obsession. There are endless opportunities with this franchise and I cannot wait for more. I haven't been this excited for a new franchise since Stranger Things season 1 and Lotr all those years ago. This is different and super exciting. He also said the one he is already working on has a little to do with Nikki, but he didn't wanna say too much, of course.

This movie has so many great depths to it. Plus all the elements of it how it was done with its music and effects, and the low budget. The acting was also tremendous. I've definitely been enjoying the reactions I've been watching. Thankfully more people are seeing what should be seen and not gross interpretations. Some red flag comments I've seen on videos made me facepalm. Adding this line here so rest of comment pushes down more to avoid spoilers for stuff I say after here so don't read below this point if you don't want to risk seeing potential spoiler-y reaction content before watching the reaction itself: Love that ya'll pick up on the language Bear uses after the party scene. It is so intentional. "Why can't you be normal?" "I just want you to act like Nikki" and so on. Remember that in the beginning he's crying not cause of his cat, but while looking at his phone in the dark saying "why can't she just-" and then we see the Obsession title card. Bear is so big on ignoring things he doesn't want to acknowledge such as the story at the party that was so written by the Other Nikki and obviously not her. The way other people noticed she wasn't acting like herself even during the "happy phase" like the way she acted, the way she dressed, etc. cause none of that was her(remember she was like ugh about him saying it was a romance she was writing when it was a love story which backs up Ian's whole thing about her not being all sentimental, lovey-dovey comment). Other Nikki was only amplifying what "it" thought he wanted like when he wakes up to the ideal image of her reading on the couch the book is upside down. None of that was the real Nikki. There's also implications he feeds her sleeping pills(mentions having them in his pocket when talking to Sarah) so she'll sleep since we know Other Nikki didn't like to sleep or him to leave the bed, and that would explain how Nikki is able to speak to him when he's sneaking out. Sarah and Bear would've been cute if he hadn't decided to just see her as an option cause he was done with Nikki. Cause things had become too much as a result of what he did. Plus, we know Sarah isn't lying about things, but she also pointed out that she can't confirm or deny if what Nikki told her is true cause they only ever talked about it once. Nikki could've lied - I personally don't think she did - but the only one who I feel isn't trustworthy about their reasons for being concerned is Ian. His motive was largely jealousy cause I feel like their 2 yr casual hook-up was one cause Nikki didn't want it to be more, but he obviously did. Some of it could've been concern for Nikki though I feel like most of it was him being upset Nikki and Bear were together.
