We're Here, At last!!! The Season 2 finale of True Blood and honestly...It did not disappoint! The insane visuals we got in this but also one of the more tragic scenes we got. It surprised us so much and it's making us Yearn for the 3rd Season.

Season 3 starting next week!

With the sacrifice to Dionysus at hand, Sookie learns that she has a special role to play.

🚨Please be mindful of spoilers/hints or references/EMOJIS to future episodes/seasons in the comments! Best to talk about the episode at hand in order to be respectful to us and to anyone watching for the first time with us. The Horror Bandwagon

Sorry this one took so long but we got it out! Season 3 starting next week! - What moment of this season finale absolutely gagged you?!

Puffadder

Hadley (the Queens... pet/food?) Is Sookie's cousin. You guys happened to be talking when she revealed that to Bill which led to their convo about Gran

Rowan Dawson

Extremely excited for season four. You guys are going to freak. It's everyone's favorite. (I said three originally, but I forgot it happened before 4.)

Steve Capone

Today was a treat! Appreciate the work getting out the episodes of From and True Blood. Sam’s kill on Maryann is an all timer for me. I also love how they use the back half of the finales to set up some of the upcoming stories. There’s like mini cliffhangers for a bunch of different stories, leading up to the main ending cliffhanger.

Steve Capone

Now that the season is over I want to point out a detail I noticed on a rewatch and have always thought was cool. This season had the 2 oldest beings we’ve seen in Godric and Maryann. Godric is so laid back he’s basically broken. He wants nothing for himself and only wants to bring peace to others. He didn’t spend time caring about any Gods or power. In the end he dies a beautiful death, by choice, feeling compassion from someone. His last word is “God” in the line “in this I see God” regarding Sookie being with and caring for him. The non-believer (or at least non-worshipper) dies seeing God. Maryann is chaos incarnate. All she wants is a connection to God and she believes in sacrificing and controlling anybody to get it. In the end she died a violent death, though also by choice (technically). Her last word is “God” in the line “is there no God”. The life long devoted believer dies believing that God was never with her. Just thought that was kinda cool.

BattyT

Thank god Jason was only under Maryann’s spell for like 30 minutes because if he’d been taken over the whole time he would have fucked the entire town 😅 no gender excluded I’m glad this season is getting love now because when it aired, a lot of people weren’t fans because it didn’t follow the books. I love it though, the maenad storyline is so unique Speaking of the books, author Charlaine Harris has a cameo in this episode, she’s sitting at the bar in Merlotte’s after the Maryann stuff wraps up, and says something like “I never thought anything like that would happen here”

Amanda

These reactions have been the best, can’t wait for you guys to see season 3! ❤️🙌

rickie woodson

they said it last ep but you guys were in your own convo so you missed it. hedley (the queen's famel friend) is sookie's cousin.

rickie woodson

i only remember season 4 (my second favorite season after season 2). i remember who appears in season 3 aka the guy i would get with if i was in bon temps but thats about it.

Alyssa Pridemore

To be fair, Sam isn't as... Annoying, rude, or creepy... In the books. The books are A LOT different than the show. So if either of you like reading, I'd highly suggest it! I actually hated book Bill 😂

KatieBee

The girl at the queen's place is Sookie's cousin.

rickie woodson

thats not it at all. hoyt says it: his mom is just afraid of him leaving forever and her being alone. so instead of letting him be his own person and experience the world, she minipulates him with that lie to keep him close so she isnt alone. therapy (and buddha) teaches us that control is an illusion. you cant control other people, trying to is just a recipe for disaster

dean's gf ₍^. .^₎⟆

ohhh i'm sooo ready for season 3 and 4! my personal faves and i think you two are going to love them as much as me

Repomanda22

That particular bull is a breed called Brahman, originally from India, they are easy to identify by that hump, and their floppy ears. Also said to be mean as hell in the rodeo community, they use them a lot in bull riding competitions.

Alyssa Pridemore

They are absolutely beautiful creatures though!

Caroline

You guys should watch Coraline

Melanie Z

Things play out rather differently compared to the book, Living Dead in Dallas. I won’t spoil the story, but I would like everyone to know that it involves Eric wearing pink and blue spandex pants for…reasons 😂

Laura Cordone

Jason thought Andy was going to be killed. Andy was laying on the ground & Eggs was standing over him with a knife. Yes, maybe he could have tackled him or whatever, but I don't think Jason was being flippant or uncaring in his decision. I think he was simply trying to save Andy. He didn't think it through, he just reacted. It's just sad any way you look at it.

gayjay

I just wanted to mention that Sam’s adopted dad also said “im sorry” in that note. I wiiiished yall woulda seen it, the timing was hilarious because shortly after yall said “i guess that’s sort of an apology.” Haha

First Question

Is it really bad that I think Eggs was really bad for Tara, and that I’m not that sad about what happened? I think Tara deserves so much better in life. Edit: we’re not assuming I’m a white person commenting on characters of color. I am a mixed race person commenting on a character I didn’t like either in the books or the movie. I will not share further “spoilers,” but what we’re not going to do here is make bad faith assumptions please and thank you.

Stone45

You guys didn't notice but at 36:53, I think that's the author of the Sookie Stackhouse books: Charlaine Harris. The one who's talking to Sam.

DewLeepa

lol, yeah? they were bad for each other, he didn't deserve any of that though. also always part of a larger conversation around how POC characters are always disposable.

Juley

Yes. If you go back and watch it, Eggs was waving the knife just inches from Andy’s face and yelling at him. It definitely wouldn’t look good if you didn’t know what was going on. And he was at least 20 feet away. If Eggs had meant to kill Andy, there was no way Jason could have tackled him in time. It’s a case of a tragic misunderstanding. But there wasn’t any need for Andy to cover it up. Jason could not be convicted of a crime under the circumstances. He had every reason to believe it was necessary to save Andy’s life. Both of them reacted without thinking.

Laura Cordone

I agree. I don't understand why Andy felt the need to cover it up.

Dashen

Yes! Charlaine Harris hehe

Henry Riley

I remember being actually sad when Maryann got killed off as delusional as she was, she was actually the shows most iconic villain of the series alongside what’s to come in Season 3 but I’ll let you guys see for yourselves on that 😉

orangeflavor

Oh my gosh, that Hush art is awesome, and that's so cool of the artist to include it and ship them both. Love that. I completely forgot about Barry until Sookie mentioned him and now I have sooooo many questions because we haven't heard from him since Dallas. What was the last thing we saw of him again? I'm remembering him telling Bill about Sookie's capture and getting caught by Lorena, and then Bill helped him escape and then... I don't know? Where is he? What happened? Does Bill know? I'm super curious now. I loved loved loved the bull moment. There was something really beautiful about the cinematography of that scene - the lighting, the sound, I just loved it. Such an entertaining reaction! And I love how the show takes time to let the characters feel the aftermath in a finale, because sometimes the fallout is it's own conflict. This show does that well.

lauren

I think Sam only needs to see an animal once to imprint on it, rather than having that animal present with him each time he shifts. In theory, him and Bill could've gone to see a bull before heading over to Maryann lol (in the books I think he has a book full of animal pictures to look at, although it's been a while so I might be misremembering)

AJ

I high-key love Maryanne as a villain. She's just so WEIRD and her motivations and defeat are so unique. Season two is one of my favorites because of the whole mystery around her. That said, season three hype!!💜

AJ

Jason would have been an absolute MENACE 😭

Soph

Season 3 is goated!

Shannon Turner

Maryann is one of the all-time best villains. The writing, the acting, the plot, and the downfall. Just brilliant. Perfect storywriting. Poor Eggs. Poor Jason. Such a shitty situation all around. But that's what this show does: where VD writers always choose the most dramatic conclusion to a scenario, TB writing always chooses the WORST possible conclusion.

Soph

I think if they had met under different circumstances it could’ve been a lot better and healthier. But with everything with Maryanne it was doomed from the start…

Ana Fox

14:36 in case no one said it yet, the girl did say she was sookie's cousin! I don't think we met her before this.

Girl Ryan

Point of clarification for Cody’s note at the end - the queen is not giving out her blood for selling, but she is orchestrating the whole blood selling scheme and using Eric as her sheriff to make sure it’s being done. And she wants to make sure no one knows she’s the mastermind. Can’t wait for season 3!

Duuderuu

Just you wait, the season 3 is going to blow your mind! True Blood is the Legend of Vampyre lore!

krissi 🎃

Between seasons 2 and 3, they released 6 minisodes. each 2 to 3 minutes long. I don't think you need to watch them before s3 but it has been years since I watched them. So, I'm not entirely sure.

Julie D

You might remember that in an earlier episode (after Bill killed the creepy pedo great uncle), when Sookie and Jason were talking about the funeral, they mentioned their cousin Hadley and that no one had seen her in a while. This is why--she's been with Sophie Anne!

Addy's Brain

When everyone started waking up, I was thinking everyone of you had better help Sookie clean her house.

Ash

Is it weird that I love how big the Queen's fangs are lol

m c

I absolutely love how after finishing Buffy, fans will unconsciously refer to all new evils in any and every show or movie as "Big Bad". I still do it after all these years too lol. Side note: I was watching someone react to Xena Warrior Princess last night (I've been itching to rewatch the show and never seen anyone react to it before) and this guy in the episode at the tavern shouted "long live Dionysus". Mind you, the episode had nothing to do with Dionysus. I just find it so funny how coincidences like this line up, they are only on season 1 episode 5, and just uploaded the episode yesterday same time as you conclude this Maryann meeting "Dionysus" arc of true blood.

Danilo C

As a person, I totally agree that Eggs deserved much better. But as a character, I'm sorry but found him extremely boring and even annoying sometimes, like whenever he convinced Tara that everything was okay when it clearly wasn't. When he wasn't being controlled by Maryann he was just sort of there. I mean he had at least 3 more blackouts than Tara (that we know of, he probably had more than that) and never questioned anything, just accepted it with a chuckle and a "oh Maryann's parties are wild" kind of comment. That's just weird, especially considering that it was his involvement with drugs that got him in jail before Maryann took him in. Tara knew immediately after the first blackout that something was wrong and that's only due to her seeing her mother's experience. He only started questioning it because Tara questioned it. So yeah, i think the writers wrote a weak character whose only purpose was to make Tara more at ease with Maryann, then disposed of him in a rushed way at the end and I'm totally ok with that. Much better characters will be joining the show in the next few seasons.

A Cup of Cait

Eggs & Tara deserved better 😭

Addy's Brain

When everyone broke from Maryanne's spell, I thought, "Every one of you better help Sookie clean her house." They need a supernatural-aware therapist in this town. Even if Andy locked Eggs up until Tara, maybe, could talk him down, I don't think he would consent to being glamoured. But the only thing I think that would help him is therapy.

Thirstygoddess

He probably would've been Egg's replacement, kind of like Layefett for Karl

Chantal

Michelle Forbes is sooo sexy to me 🥵

Juley

I agree. It would be great to see Tara fall in love with a terrific guy, but the character of Eggs was really lacking. The actor is super hot! And Eggs was sweet to Tara. But, other than that, he didn’t have a lot going for him. Both he and Tara were seduced by Marianne’s kindness and generosity when they were down and out. But Tara remained skeptical and kept her wits about her. She saw that something was not right, even before they began blacking out. Marianne facilitated Tara’s relationship with Eggs for that reason. She knew she couldn’t keep Tara around without an additional incentive (and distraction). As you said, Eggs was unbothered by the wild parties and blacking out. Tara deserves better! Somebody loving and wise who really has her back — AND who is super hot!

Monte

There is no amount of convincing that anyone can do to make me believe that Jason HAD to kill Eggs in that moment. You hit the nail on the head with how he oversimplifies and frames things in a way that suits his own ego. Sookie tells him to use his brain more, but in the last episode, Jason tells Andy the time for thinking is over. So here we are; he took action without considering any other option. Also, did Sookie not tell Tara or anyone else about helping Eggs come to terms with his memories? I feel like Tara would have at least looked for him. Anyway, looking forward to the next season.

Fiona Fleming

To answer Sergio's question- HELL YES there is erotic fanfiction for True Blood! I spent my teenage years writing some, as well as reading. Unsurprisingly, erotica featuring Eric is probably the most popular, and he's been paired with just about everyone under the sun (moon?) because he really is THAT bitch What's funny is I revisited my old TB fics after you boys started this show, and re-watching it with y'all has gotten me started on a brand new outline! Spoiler alert: I could never accept Godric's death, even when I was young. So I'mma give our elderly vamp boy a reason to live (𝚊̶𝚗̶𝚍̶ ̶𝚕̶𝚘̶𝚟̶𝚎̶?̶) The world that Charlaine Harris created and that Alan Ball brought to life on screen, is so rich and ripe for exploration. Seasons 3 and 4 really flesh out this universe in a way where it becomes almost impossible not to go seeking out additional content. And the True Blood cast... man, on top of being one of the most attractive casts out of any show, they all embody each character fully and with such presence. As a writer, they give you a lot to work with! Thank you for listening to our suggestions and starting this show. You guys get to fall in love with this universe for the first time, and many of us get to be reminded why the hell we loved it so much to begin with!

Miss Maya

oh both pieces of artwork are so cool I love the art style!!! but the red Fangtasia one is just top! Will definitelly look up that artist :)

RJC-29

Oof, I didn't remember everything about this finale since I've only seen it 1x before. They did Eggs dirty.. They could have written him off as leaving town if they wanted, but they had to show one of the few characters of color being killed violently, and seemed to use it as a symbolic bookend of Andy and Jason's relationship growth (Andy protecting Jason, trying to distance him from it). Also, I get that Eggs was frantic but his actions made no sense- Was he going to turn himself in? He hurt Andy and was menacing him with a huge knife, of course anyone walking up would see him as a threat. :/

Miss Maya

what a ride! season 2 was awesome! season 3 will be even crazier :)

Minjona

I was thinking about how Sam turned into that bull. Maybe he google it :D because one moment he said that to his deadbeat stepmother that if there is internet there is no such thing as not seeing someone for forever. So I kinda made that connection haha

CALM

He covered it up because Jason used a gun that wasn't his (stolen earlier from the police station if I'm not mistaken). At the very least he would have been indicted for illegal possession (and use) of a firearm (or something like that). Andy is a pretty clever character when he's not drunk or blinded by his own insecurities. He reacted fast to save his new friend. Now, having said that, the whole thing is shitty and disturbing. Because Jason was really trigger-happy in a situation he didn't understand, and now a (black) man was killed, is being blamed for everything, and his murder is covered up by a cop. (Think about it, if Terry, for example, had been the one in Egg's position, would Jason have fired? Would Andy have ignored it so readily?) There is no excuse for either of their behavior, imo.

CALM

I had no idea! Thank you so much for pointing it out!!

CALM

About Sam being able to transform in the (magnificent) bull, I always thought that he was able to do that because he was full of vampire blood then, which gave him extra strength (and ability). Then he probably looked up a picture of a huge bull beforehand to prepare or something like that. Remember the whole thing was planned before Sam & Bill got here, so they had a bit of time to think it through.

Miri

Sookie mentioned Hadley in season one. She told Bill that she had a cousin that ran off and no one had heard from her.

Gemma

I know you guys were into the Maryann storyline, but I have to admit that I was never a fan of it. I’m looking forward to season 3 and the introduction of one of my favourite characters ❤️

Aaron J

Not mine LOL

Aaron J

@28:47 But Jason did help. He saved Sam from the Mob when he pretended to be the God. Who knows what would have happened if they got a hold of him then. Oh and when a finger is cut off if they Dr. can't sew it back on they have to at least sew up the wound LOL

First Question

While you’re obviously welcome to stand by how you commented and what was said, what you said landed as if you were assuming I was unaware of how characters who look like me a mixed race person are treated on fictional tv shows. That comment wasn’t well received. I am not unaware of that, and I am not a white person, to be absolutely crystal clear. And while I won’t share “spoilers” here, because I know there is a sensitivity to that and want to be respectful of this community, you should look into the books. HBO made a different casting choice, that may or may not have changed how this character would’ve been perceived. I’ve never liked Eggs in the books or the show. Any casting choices that may have made this seem a problematic situation were made by HBO, right? Not me. He was a poorly written character from the jump. Making him a specific race in the show that may have deviated from the way his character is originally described on the page may well have just been a tone deaf 2000’s casting choice, and while that doesn’t make general choices in Hollywood about how they treat black characters okay, it does not affect whether the character was or was not a good one, and that should frankly not need to be said. Since it appears to need to be said, I have said it. Be well.

Diona Boone

The "So think gay" took me out. Lol

NurseTargaryen

Now imagine the rest of us who had to wait a whole year to find out what happened to bill 😱🤣 and as far as Sam shifting into other animals I’m pretty sure once he shifts into an animal once he can shift into them at any time without him needing to see that animal. Also I love the paintings!! I also really need a video of you 2 singing the intro song at karaoke 🤣

Melanie Vaudrin

Honestly I think the thing with the Jason scene at the end is that you're viewing it from the wrong angle. You're looking at the scene from Eggs side, the angle we're shown. But try moving the camera angle, try viewing it from Jason's perspective. Less that 24 hours ago shit went to hell but he found one guy he bonded with for them to go into that hell together. And here this guy was, having a man yelling and waving a bloody knife in his face while he's looking like he's scared. He reacted immediately. I think a lot of it was probably just still riding the fear of the night before.

Lisa Atkinson

In the previous episode, Hadley said “my cousin Sookie.”

DoomGummy

The bull is a brahma type. They look like that. It's likely Sam saw it before and already imprinted it along with dozens of other animals (dog is just his go-to). That or after Bill went over his plan with him, they detoured to have Sam create an imprint of a bull.

DoomGummy

Eggs' death was Sookie's fault, not Andy or Jason's.

DoomGummy

Literally erratic, holding a bloody knife and waving it at a police officer inches away from him and at the end, standing over top a fallen police officer (or anyone for that matter). That always ends the same way.

Jbug

another great season finale 👏 enjoyed season 2 alot. excited to explore more of what sookie is, and more of Sam's backstory.

jason

Omg guys if u think season 2 was good wait until u watch season 3. Great reaction for the finale though, u guys always make me laugh so much.

Laura Cordone

Eggs' death was not Sookie's fault. She was only trying to help him. All the fault lies with Maryann. That poor boy was dead the second she got her claws into him.

Goliath Shakti

The parallels of the fellowship of the sun and the current domestic terrorist regime in the US is uncanny. Jason is the epitome of the uneducated white man with a hero complex

DewLeepa

I've read the books, I'm a black person (and was not insinuating anything based on your profile photo, bc tbh everybody's are small enough that without my glasses on I just call it a day), and nothing about my comment outside of answering your question posited to the guys and other subscribers was directed at you or based on how you identify. Literally anyone can discuss the pitfalls of storytelling and directorial choices made by white people. Outside of him feeling one dimensional in the show, I don't think he was a bad character, just not fleshed out enough.

Kate

Eggs is one of the most tragic characters on the show. I feel so bad for him and Tara. I would've loved seeing them have a chance at a real relationship. Also, hats off to Gran's power of dress preservation. That dress had no oxidation or staining at all after what? 60 years?

Teon Quant

Joining your patreon and rewatching this show through y'all has reminded me that part of why I loved Sinners is because it reminded me of True Blood. The southern gothic horror aesthetic, how thematically rich it is with its commentary, how bloody it gets, how horny it is, and not to mention how hilarious it can be at times. It just has all of the elements of entertainment.

Kammy

Whaaat?! A Breaux Bridge shout out, that’s where I live!! 😂

R

Also I feel like that was the most merciful thing for Eggs, he was NEVER going to recover from what Maryann made him do even if he went to prison. That seemed like the only way he would've found peace.

R

It's not everyone's favourite. I can't stand it. 😅

Kimberly S. (Rawr)

Those paintings are gorgeous! I’ll definitely have to check out her shop 🖤 Oof not her wearing Gran’s wedding dress for her ritual 😢 Sookie putting her hands in Maryann’s face and nothing happening was hilarious. “I’m a waitress. What the fuck are you?” Is honestly iconic. Maryann being so disgusted at the thought of marrying Sam had me dying 😂 Them playing Yahtzee with the queen was so funny. The Queen is the one having Eric make Lafayette sell vampire blood?! 🤯 Her threatening Eric was hot, but terrifying. “That man is us” I love Jason, trying to give him & Andy a pep talk 😂 Not Jason and Andy getting put under the spell. Bill & Sam having to team up with their history is wild. Not them actually stabbing Sam! Yes Sookie go off destroying everything. Maryann running with her claws will never not make me laugh. Yes Sam tricking Maryann 👏🏼 Her death scene was brutal but well deserved. And I love that it came at Sam’s hands after everything she’s done to him. I feel so bad for Hoyt. Eggs is not doing well and I don’t blame him. I love that Arlene‘s kids are smart enough to know that René is probably dead. I love the townspeople theorizing about Maryann. The “I’d wear him like a scrunchie” is WILD but valid 😂 Sookie helping Eggs remember was rough 😭 Aww I love Bill & Jessica’s scenes where he’s like a protective father. The dress he got Sookie was sweet. Sam talking with his parents in search of his birth parents was sad but intriguing. Can’t wait to see how his story progresses from here. Okay Jessica lean into that dark side. The Bill & Sookie restaurant scene was so sweet. Jason taking out Eggs was crazy! He was a victim of Maryann & her manipulation. He deserved so much better. After all the trauma he endured I don’t see how he would’ve come back from all that if he were to have survived. Poor Tara continues to go THROUGH IT! 💔 Can we give her anything good? Bill proposing to Sookie! Oof Sookie needing to figure out what & who she is before saying yes is so real. I’m so ready for her to figure out what she is. Not Bill getting taken! What a crazy finale. I have no idea where we go from here but I’m so excited for season 3! Y’all making fun of Sam in that Maryann scene had me dying 😂 As soon as I saw the bull I was like hell yeah that’s definitely Sam. The aftermath of Maryann’s influence continuing to linger over the town was definitely felt. Ugh Jason being the one to take out Eggs& blaming him for the murders is brutal. Then you take into account Jason & Tara’s relationship & how angry & devastated she’s gonna be when she finds out it was him. Phew I’m not ready for that emotional gut punch. Thanks for a fantastic season of reactions to this crazy ass show guys! Season 3 here we come 🥂

Lisa Elizabeth

Anna Paquin is generally down for all kinds of gore but she asked for her own ostrich egg to lick because she thought it was too gross and germy to be licking the same egg as everyone else for X amount of takes. In terms of diva on set behaviour, I think that’s pretty tame.
