This episode is a bit odd too me, mostly because as someone who is not from the USA i find the whole founders thing and miss fall thing a bit asurd. but Im very glad Caroline won cause i love her :) unfortunately i am way too gay to be tricked by Damons charm this episode isnt really my favourite. im in the minority i know but "the taste is like your ass" as we say in Norway hehe (it just means everyones tastes are different) But i think overall thats kind of an issue i have with this show cause its so focused on these men when all i ship both Damon and Stephan with is therapy haha. But im loving your reactions nonetheless. ;) I will say Stephans blood problem is something that i like, its an added layer that makes him more interesting as a character.

The BEST episode of the season. That dance scene... Caroline being the best bestie, Stefan's alter ego, Bonnie being baddass, Damon being a Good Brother(tm), Jon being a coniving ass. Peak TVD. I love watching you guys slowly coming over to the Damon stan darkside with the rest of us. Ian's acting is marvellous (tbh all the actors in this show are underrated - especially Nina) and I will always watch and rewatch this show for the subtle nuances of his performance. But you're right, Paul stole the show this episode. His switch-up was BRILLIANT. You hit the nail on the head. He felt like a completely different person. I'm so happy we're getting into this Stefan arc. He's so vanilla early on, and it's so hard to hold back comments in the early episodes, where you can see some of the foreshadowing for this in his unhealthy relationship with being a vampire. He doesn't accept it, he resents it, which is why he has no control. It's such amazing addiction character writing and acting.

Charoline is the goat... my fav character ever, always at the top of my list. Her character arc is amazing... this show only gets better every episode. I rewatch it every year as well as the spin off Originals... amazing glad you guys love it as much as me, youre both amazing

As for Damon's role: the Founders Council is only comprised of descendants of the original founders. The police force doesn't know about vampires unless they're on the founder's council. Damon is a "descendant" (lol) of the Salvatore founders, which is an influential founding family of Mystic Falls. He's also gained Liz's trust by "saving her life", giving her vervain, and killing a vampire. I think all of those factors combined make him Liz's right hand man right now (like he planned it).

The most important scene of this episode is the Damon and Elena dance, and you didn't even mentioned it....this is the making or breaking of reactors.....how desappointing....the entire show is around that scene, so iconic, the town where they shoot the show is doing the dance after the show every year, it's like you talk about Buffy and never mention that the most epic episode is when the mother dies....talking 10 minutes about the pebbles and never mention mount everest you had in front of you. 👎🤦‍♀️

Paul Wesley’s acting in this episode was fantastic the way I was in the edge of my seat throughout, he really sold his character going through it and you felt scared but also so bad for him. Really shows his range as well from earlier episodes especially when he was just on animal blood.

i definitely think so. there’s like 3 scenes in the episode talking about how matt couldn’t be there cuz he was busy lol. maybe it was for plot reasons but it was kinda weird lol

1. Rude - just because that you like the scene and they didn’t talk about it that much, doesn’t mean it makes the reaction lesser than because they didn’t have such a big reaction to it. Just because many people like it it doesn’t mean that EVERYONE should. 2. They react to a lot of things and talk about a lot of things, and them just not talking that much about this one 2-minutes scene is perfectly ok. You can’t possibly discuss about everything.

Stefan just needed a Snickers that’s all. He’s not himself when he’s hungry 🙃 Ian Somerhalder has the most captivating eyes. The smolder is unmatched. Stefan hiding he’s off the wagon & stealing massive amounts of blood was wild. I felt so bad for Bonnie. Her feelings are so valid after what happened with Grams. I loved the Miss Mystic Falls event premise. So much drama! Despite some of her insecurities & perhaps misguided priorities, Caroline is a good friend. I love the fact that she was able to get a win here. She’s definitely had it rough from the start of this season with everything Damon put her through. Stefan off the rails is so scary. I loved Damon stepping in to dance with Elena. Within Temptation is fantastic! Rent was definitely due with that vocal performance 🙌🏼 Okay Bonnie with the magical flex. Stefan looking like a wounded animal after Elena & the others saw him was so sad. Not Jenna accidentally dropping the Pearl tea to John. Pearl giving Damon the device as a peace offering was interesting. Oof that Elena & Stefan confrontation was rough to watch. Her & Damon having to lock Stefan up to detox him was sad but needed. Very emotional episode for many of the characters. The acting was so on point. Paul Wesley being able to switch up Stefan’s entire demeanor was fantastic 🙌🏼 Amazing reaction guys! 🖤

You said Stephan was like Angelus. I think he is the complete opposite. He is more Angel than Angelus. Angelus loves being evil. He enjoys doing harm to others. He loves torturing his victims. He played with Buffy and enjoyed it. He also drove Drusilla crazy. - Stephan hated to do this. He was more tortured himself. He just couldn't stop himself. He knew he was hooked on blood and decided not to fight it anymore. He did try to fight the urge to kill Amber. And you could see that he hated doing it to her but couldn't control himself.
