Thank you for the support! You guys and grrls are awesome!

"Hey I have some pool water with food coloring in it, what should we do with it?" "Let's package it in wax and sell it to children. Because evil.""Wow, you had an answer for that right away.""Eeeevil.""Is... the wax edible?""It's not not edible."

If I had been doing my job properly this whole time, Harem should have been in about 50% more of the comics. Not necessarily for potentially comedic reasons, but for practical, in-world reasons. There's five of her, and she allows for uninterruptible communications. Not only that, if someone does smack her behind the ear with a sap or hit her with a knockout dart, the hers that are still conscious will know about it. More accurately, she will know about it, because there's only one consciousness/sapience between the lot of them. So Max would make a habit of distributing her around the base and tagging her to go on any missions. The only reason she hasn't been on a lot more pages is that each person I draw takes time, and sometime the space on a panel is a little precious, so cramming a Harem in the back if she's not contributing to a conversation would make sense for the worldbuilding, but she often gets cut for practical reasons.

Harem has worn that shirt (or a variant of it) before. It says "STOP STARING" in braille, which I think is really funny.

Sydney has been having a lot of dreams about being a space mercenary/pirate/paramour of large lizardmen/general thug/delivery girl of questionable packages/street urchin since the Lapha incident, but only about 50% of it is her brain processing Lapha's memories, and the rest of it is her brain filling in random detail like brains do while dreaming. As far as spontaneous larceny goes, Lapha and Sydney's personalities are pretty far apart, and so far there hasn't been a whole lot of cross contamination. Whether or not that remains the case while Sydney is in alien town is another matter.

Harem's shirt is hilarious

not sure if its intentional, but getting big Crocodile from One Piece vibes from that one panel of Sydney and I support having that man be the rhetorical devil on your shoulder

Is that t-shirt a real thing somewhere? If so, I'd appreciate knowing where to get one should my plans of getting a kinky girlfriend that will let me dress her come to fruition.

It's like that spongebob episode where him and patrick stole the balloon

Yeah, whoever came up with wax candy (bottles, lips, everything else) was a special kind of evil. Or desperate. Wouldn't surprise me if something like that came from the Great Depression.

I mean, i agree, we should be seeing more of Harem, but that's mostly a personal desire and not from any logistical reason :) Not that I dislike any part of the Grrlverse, but she remains one of my favorite characters

Miyaa

I would be more upset if Sydney liked Baby Ruth candy bars.

Sydney's worth at least a baker's dozen of research papers

Google lens translates the shirt as "read me"... Can't decide if the author is messing with us, or lens can't read braille 😂

I am old enough to remember when "Nik-L-Nip" became "10 Cent Nip". My first encounter with the concept of inflation.

Matthew Lambert

She was so shocked she sucked her lips all the way in, hiding the lipstick

Yeah. Those wax bottles of ick were a complete rip-off. Luckily, 4-5 kids could learn to never buy them again each time a batch of them was bought. I learned when my older brother bought some.

Town Crier

Screw Snickers. Baby Ruths are da bomb.

I recently ran across that tumblr comic where the first panel shows a bunch of little circles spread around the page labeled "Data" and the second shows those circles with paths between them labeled "Knowledge". Sydney's going to find herself *very* (I almost wrote super) familiar with interstellar society when she gets exposed to it. Like an amnesiac suddenly recalling their past.

Justaguy

Is that TWO Holy hand grenades of Antioch? And is anyone else wondering if the "someone else" is a certain voilence-powered brawling machine?

John Chidester

The real question is "Is the braille on Harem's shirt raised?" so that someone could 'read' it properly?

With Harem going into space, I am reminded of the time there were six of her for a few minutes. I am wondering how that was like on Earth when they suddenly all started freaking out. She at least had some warning. Best hope she marked it on her calendar.

That's adorable. I really want to see how this'll mesh with Sydney actually knowing how to lockpick to being with and having her utility belt. Maybe she'll start packing 'essentials' like Lapha would, and realize she knows how to hack a door panel. Also, one thing I've REALLY been waiting for is when they finally go visit the Alari colony in Galtyn. By that point they have to have gotten some level of data from their homeworld, and probably realized what Sydney did there. It would be utterly amazing if absolutely everyone is snubbed and ignored when they arrived in favor of all three House Exarchs trying to pin medals on and recruit Sydney for kicking copious amounts of ass on their homeworld, avenging many of their fallen, and then try to promise her a bunch of stuff for swearing loyalty to them (given things we've seen in previous panels, the more informed ones would immediately start promising her bigger cup sizes and the real nerd paraphenelia). They could try to negotiate with Archon and the US once they realize that won't work, but I don't think they'd 'lower' themselves to negotiating with the US government like that. I also wonder if we'll see the team start doing PR stuff to build up support within the xevoarchy to solve the current diplomatic deadlock. They've already done a ton of stuff on Earth, but I'm sure Cora would have a ton of enthusiastic suggestion on building up some space cred for supers and Earth in general.

I winder if going to space will have an effect on Harem. You say that her connection is quantum-something instantaneous but afaik she never was in space so no two Harems were much more than an Earth diameter apart. Compared to Space that's nothing.
