Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome!

Some people have asked why Max went to a bar, basically a singles bar, if she doesn't want to get hit on. Well, her lack of inexperience in this area means she also lacks creativity. And it's not like she didn't want to potentially start up a conversation with some civvy guy, but the sudden run on her compounded with her stressful week and a bad start to the evening didn't help. She's slowly starting to mellow.

I'm bad with faces. I might have mentioned this before, but if an actor puts a wig on, there's a good chance I won't recognize them. At least not right away. They'll be familiar, but I'll take me about 5 minutes to get it. My wife on the other hand could compete with IMDB. We were watching a clip of something black and white, and this 12 year old boy appeared on screen, and my wife immediately said, "I think that's Ian McKellan." And it was. I've never even seen the guy when he was younger than 55, but it didn't slow down the wife for a second. I assume I'd be a better artist if that part of my brain was more swole, or however brains work.

All that is to say, Maxima's disguise would be super effective on me. My wife might not even notice the color and specularity change before she recognized her. So her mileage disguised as "caucasian" would vary wildly. Anytime she goes out in public like this, she's rolling the dice. Once it's known that Maxima has a way to appear non-shiny, the chance of her getting away with this goes down.

definitely the wrong approach...but given her life experience, not surprising

Clark Kent glasses are only a joke because that's pretty much the only "disguise" he wears, apart from his outfit and personality shift. Glasses plus a full-body colour shift would be super effective against most folks.

Your wife and mine share the same super power. I do the same thing with voices. Watching a movie and I'll be looking away when I hear someone speak, and I'll say, oh, I didn't realize Ian McKellan (or whoever) was voicing the Narrator for this."

Did Maxima actually "thump" the counter, or did she do it in her mind? Because that is much more a Sydney reaction type than Maxima's :D

I would have loved to hear the Jon Stewart-Max interview; thank you for that, Dave.

Do you even brain, bro, do ya? Sorry swole brain made me think it, so I had to share the pain. Now we can all have the gains...gahhhhhhhh

My face/name blindness is so bad that when I read a book where names are close enough I think they are one character, which is fun when they are suddenly in a scene together. Which in real life is FUN because I mostly recognize FACES but I'll be damned if I can remember anyone's name.

I'm surprised she didn't get some shapeshifting, or difference in appearance illusion devise. The whole point of a new and secret identity is variety! Also the next time you go date shopping and are looking for something informal, bring Sydney with you, she really gets under your guard and makes you more approachable when you suddenly snort in laughter or are completely feral over her latest antics.

The cool kids call it "OP4". And. It. Is. Fun!!! It is also great training for Small Unit Spec Ops. One is quite literally given permission to eff with the units going against them. My favorite toys were the Whistler, which simulated any number of booby-traps by screaming very loud for several seconds, and then giving off a very loud "BANG!". My other was a rubber knife and red chalk. Many an unobservant soldier disappeared into the bush, only to be found by his buddies later, only now sporting a red chalk line across their throat. It is a total hoot to sit there, looking like a lump of foliage, as the regular troops walk within feet of you, stare right at you, and keep moving along, not recognizing that they had just seen a well-camouflaged OP4. Other times you let them glimpse you and see if any recklessly chase you right into you booby-traps. There are always a few. MWAHAHAHAHAHA! Like I said, "FUN!"

I had wondered about the face. Also the voice, since she's been using the 'annoyed with stupid questions' voice since the line started, and I'm guessing that's how she sounds talking to reporters.

I Did question her wisdom with going for a bar if she wanted to be left alone. I guess it is a bit less "deep end of the pool" than going for a club with dancing and the like. Plus if she did actually want to 'dip her toes in the water' so to speak with interacting with some normal dudes, then her choice of a bar was not wrong, she just missed the obvious consequences of bringing a 11+ tier person into a bar frequented by people in the 4-8 range. Either way dont think I have not been enjoying the comic, its been fun stuff all in all!

For me it's voices, so I'd be going crazy trying to remember where I heard her voice from. With her disguise though, if I did figure it out at the time (as opposed to 3 days later) I'd have just figured her voice was really similar.

I was hoping for mellow, interstellar bounty hunter taking a day off at a human (homeworld) bar, but average, pleasant guy is nice, too. 😎👍

When Anvil and Dabs ask how her night went, they will be badly disappointed.

It's callled prosopognosia, the inability to recognize faces. Mine is bad, but I have found a workaround. Being an artist myself, if I draw a face I can see, I will be able to recognize it better later. Even if I just imagine drawing it, it will help. And moving my hand in drawing-type motions also helps. Weird, huh?

I don't know why, but I'm imagining Max goes for a one night stand, and discovers the supermakeover choker glitches out to leave her with metallic gold labia... But, its far more likely that her pointy ears will make an appearance.
