Sound Design Template for Ableton Live (Patreon Exclusive) (Patreon)

edit: The zip file now includes the MIDI files so if you don't have Ableton Live, Ableton Live Lite, or Bitwig, you can still use the MIDI files to create your own template in other DAWS. I have updated the instructions to explain this. Cheers!

This template was designed for my own personal sound design purposes and preset testing and I'm now giving it to you, my loyal patrons! It was designed in Ableton Live 11 but it's fully compatible with Live 12! If you don't have Vital 1.5.5 or SPAN installed, you will get plugin errors so please download and install those two plugins before opening the template.

Instructions / Tips:  

1.) Each track represents different types of sounds you might want to test for your own presets. I have placed Vital and SPAN on every track, but feel free to replace the synth with any synth you'd like, even hardware.

2.) Every track is deactivated by default with the synth plugin off. The two tracks at the bottom "Design 1" and "Design 2" are where you'll design your presets for testing.

3.) To try out a preset, activate the track lane and activate your synth and press play. The included MIDI will play the preset. You can use this for plucks, pads, sequences, and more!

4.) Each track also contains a "SPAN" plugin. For all of my commercial presets, I try to aim for "-6db" at maximum velocity. Use the volume indicator (right side) on the SPAN to check if your presets are too soft, too loud, or just right.

5.) Try experimenting with different track lanes at different tempos. You don't need to keep the global tempo at 96bpm, use what works for you and your design needs.

6.) If you don't have Ableton Live, Ableton Live Lite, (or Bitwig!) I've now included the MIDI files for use in other DAWS. Just load up a session and drop the MIDI files into individual tracks and build your own template.
