Part 3 of the Patreon Exclusive Mixing and Mastering for Ambient Bundle!

When it comes to ambient music, mastering is the "final level" of polish that will take your track from sounding average to amazing. Your goal with mastering should always be to make subtle but meaningful changes and that's what we're going to talk about in this video.

We're also going to discuss the techniques that I use for mastering covering everything from EQ, Compression, Saturation, Multiband Compression, Polish EQ, and most importantly Limiting and what LUFS target you should be aiming for with your tracks.

Hopefully you have enjoyed this series! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Cheers,

This has been an eye opening series. You've done a great job of demystifying a process I have never really understood. Thank you so much!

Seconding the comment of Goodnight Waves. I need to get better at composition and arrangement before investing in the FabFilter tools, so I'm going to try to replicate this using stock Bitwig devices and (of course) Span.

Amazing tutorial! This was the last missing piece of the puzzle for me. By the way, did you design the SFX for the cinematic, sci-fi-ish intro?

Awesome and wonderful to have this mastering tutorial. I really liked how you did it plug-in by plug-in, as the mastering suites can be very nice and easy to use, but its not clear what all is really going on. It was great to have the A/B comparisons to really hear what was happening as each step progressed, instead of just "here is your mix without Ozone, here is your mix with Ozone." :D Thanks!

3 mastering episodes to rule them all! What a great tutorial! Now I actually feel like I know what I'm doing! All these years of producing boxy and muddled mixes... my gawd..!

As helpful as this series is, one of the main takeaways for me is to pick a pathway and stick to it. That's super helpful for me. Otherwise I keep trying tools, or approaches as I go along, and things end up taking forever. And that's more frustrating than evolving a system bit by bit as you grow confident with your tools/ears and the end results.

Thanks again Chris.... I use T-Racks Mastering suite for years but this course helps clear things up
