I’m excited to highlight something truly special in this month’s Community Spotlight: the Space Carver Collection for Ableton Live 12 by Gamma Sutra. This is a set of precision tools built entirely inside Ableton’s native device architecture that tackles one of the most common mix issues we all face: frequency masking. Designed as a DIY answer to Wavesfactory’s TrackSpacer, Space Carver quickly evolved into something more powerful and musical than the original inspiration.

What makes Space Carver stand out is its surgical control and clarity. These are not just EQ presets. They’re dynamic frequency ducking systems that respond in real time to a sidechain signal, carving out space across either 24 or 32 bands. Whether you're trying to unmask a buried synth, tame competing pads, or clean up dense layers of ambient textures, this tool delivers cleaner results with a surprising level of musicality. And if you’ve ever wished TrackSpacer offered more flexibility, this is the answer.

There are two versions included: Space Carver 24 for reduced CPU impact, and Space Carver 32 for high-resolution spectral carving. Yes, these racks do use more CPU than a plugin, but the tradeoff is clear. The visual layout inside Live gives you full access to every EQ band's behavior, allowing detailed shaping and nuanced ducking that adapts to your track. Once you bounce your synths and MIDI instruments to audio, you’ll find it easy to incorporate these tools into your mixing process without hitting performance walls.

I love seeing what producers create using tools like this. If you end up trying Space Carver in your own work, drop a comment and let us know how it shaped your mix. Right now, Space Carver is available as a “Name Your Price” download, which means it’s completely free to grab. An optional $2 to $5 donation is appreciated but not required.

Thanks, so very much, Chris for the spotlight on Space Carver for Ableton Live 12. I hope that Abletons might consider giving it a try. It does take a bit more CPU than TrackSpacer (Ableton device rack vs. dedicated VST), but it's worth the added control and precision that Space Carver brings to the table. If anybody has any questions about Space Carver or needs any help in getting it installed/up and running (its fairly straightforward, once you know the two-step process), please feel free to park you question on the S1gns Discord or send me a DM. And thanks again Chris. This is something I would never have seen myself doing, before joining the S1gns Patreon and Discord.
