How many times have you doubted your own creativity? How many times have you said to yourself that it’s “not possible” to reach the higher levels of music production, even with the right tools? Thoughts like this only cloud our perspective and make it more difficult to break out of our conventional ways of thinking and make some true breakthroughs when it comes to music.

It’s time to shake things up.

Let this be the week that you finally remove all of your fears and doubts about the outcome and start truly making some progress by trying something completely new. Start simple. Try a new combination of synths or effects. Try reversing the order of your creative process. Do always start tracks the same way? Invert your methods. Change your perspective and you change your life, isn’t that what they say?

The time is now.

Don’t hold back! Use your intuition when it comes to making decisions instead of allowing your logical mind to take over. This is just one of the ways that we can allow true creativity back into our lives and begin to transform all that we have learned. The goal is to evolve your process so it becomes organic. An ever evolving cycle of creativity and abundance that you always can come back to. You’ll never be stuck, you’ll never quit, and you’ll never grow tired of the endless journey that continues to unfold.

Accept the things you cannot change, surrender to the unknown and give in to the process. When you’re heart and mind are open, that’s when the possibilities begin to flow in.

What are your favorite ways to spice up your creative workflow? Drop a comment down below! I’ll be right there with you…

Have a great week!

Cheers,

Usually watching one of your ride along or other videos that do a track or arrangement from start to finish. I like to follow along with my own project along side. My biggest problem is being stagnant after I come up with a pad or a chord progression, so doing this gives me a step by step process of what to do next. I might also start deconstructing my favourite ambient tracks by importing them into Ableton and mapping out the arrangement on piano so I can figure out what is being done musically and then try to copy the sounds inside Serum. It could give me the inspiration and similar sounds to create an entirely different song.

Love these posts, Chris! One thing that always inspires me is when I explore the sampling possibilities of my synths. For example when creating a pad, drone or soundscape. I really enjoy the process of combining samples with a synth engine. It’s not something I ever considered even just a few months back. I just dismissed it as I thought it had the potential (in my hands) to sound too gimmicky. And that’s true, but once I understood the possibilities, and started delving into the patches in Phaseplant, Pigments, and Omnisphere, I saw some really cool and tasty examples of this in action, and it became clear to me that you can get super cool results when using this method, so I tend to start with that at the moment, as I have a lot of fun when doing it

I have yet to release anything at all this year... but haven't given up just yet :-)

Great motivation and resonates a lot. I think I need to add structure and rules to my workflow because I am close to finishing my first track but I have literally hundreds of dead end projects in my ableton folder and I work better with a clear end point and map to it otherwise I'll just meander forever and tweak pads for hours. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think many of us have the same problem, hundreds of unfinished tracks with good ideas parked in the deep of the hard drive waiting for resurrection. In my case, there is an intermediate stage in the creation where I start to get bored, perhaps because it does not progress as smoothly as I expect. It's quite frustrating. Do you have any magical remedy to cure this, doctor? :(
