Moving from the concept I introduced last year "Sonic Depth of Field" is another important concept called "Musical Architecture" in which the parts of a song are like building a structure, and each piece fits in accordance to what's below it and above it, in the same way an architect would design a building.

Applying this to music, especially ambient or sequenced music, you can begin to see how important this is in developing your own personal language and approach to every track you create. In this video. I walk you through "next steps" on a track that's already been started, and at the same time talk about this concept and start to plant the seed for your own musical productions.

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Cheers and enjoy,

Inspirational as always! Loved the forest analogy that was brilliant :) Thank you once again!

Chris, your excitement and energy are truly infectious, sending me straight into a creative frenzy where, once in a while if I am lucky, some kind of sounds emerge from out here in the middle of our little 17 million acre rainforest. And when it happens, and though there is absolutely nobody around to hear it and I sound like a madman doing it, it makes me laugh out loud just like you do when it comes together. Learning and creating solo is just the way it is for me right now, but without access to you and Martin and State Azure, I'd still be trying to figure out what 'DAW' means. I'm usually the quiet guy in the corner trying to not look dumb, but I had to share how cool it is that you do this. For real dude, thank you, Chris.

I always feel inspired to go and experiment when I saw one of your videos. This is inspiration fuel. Thank you :-)

It's a pleasure to encounter complete meals instead of mere snacks. This is an experience I savor, appreciate, and find inspiring for exploring different culinary directions.
