Hooray! My Riverside submission got in! This is a GREAT batch of songs.

Ross Pollack

Another great batch of songs! I knew half of them already, but they were all very interesting. I hope we can get to an EPL of Styx's The Grand Illusion sometime. It's on the master list and when I listened to a big chunk of the band's discography a couple of months ago, that one stood out to me. There are some great deep tracks on that one, like "Man in the Wilderness."

Robert Thornton

Falcon and the Snowman is a very good movie.

Doug, to respond to you, my Father sang this song to me as he sung a handful of songs when I was young. I believe if my Father had any intentions as to the message of the song it is that as a child I used to ask my Father why he left my mother all the time. I was too young to understand why people got divorced as my parents did before I was 3 years old. Perhaps my Father was just giving me the best of both worlds in letting me know that the feeling he had for my mother was gone and it just was never going to come back, but if I focused on what little time me and him had together instead of focusing on the past then we could make the best of that time we had. I wanted to be with my Father a lot more than I ever had a chance to and much of it was that loss that resulted in my Father experiencing a lot of pain and regret as I was relentless. Looking back, I feel like I put my Father in an early grave with my inability to live in the present and for that I am absolutely sorry to him. Tragically he past away in 2006 when he was only 52 years old and most of my memories of him are sad and depressing....It is what it is but this is why divorce is so hard on the children.

Really enjoyed the Tangerine Dream video, so soothing. That’s probably not the word I want, but can’t pick a better one at the moment

I picked just three (Metheny/Bowie, Supertramp and Tangerine Dream), and was going to choose two more later, but forgot! Turns out my last two picks would have been Riverside and Guess Who. Great batch of tunes!

Even in the Quietest Moments is on my 'Favourites' playlist - a beautiful song. I enjoyed the Riverside one too. 🙂

Lovely selection of tunes. I always thought the Bowie/ Metheny song was a brilliant single...and as evidenced by its UK chart positiona lot of other Brits agreed! Don't Look Back is such an epic tune (and album), it segues into a great instrumantal with those guitars going all over the place, they did amazing things without synths. As for the Styx tune, the South Park folks did a great version with Cartman almost exploding with pomp energy, it's a good listen.

Monty Ernst

I encourage you to do the whole "Even in the Quietest Moments" album. That and "Crime of the Century."

"Crime Of The Century" was featured in Extended Play Lounge #14 back in 2022.
