How about that drummer shaking two trees....

I saw this tour at Earls Court in London - May 31st 1993. I think at the time I had fallen a little out of love with Peter's music...I felt that some of his songs were getting a little formulaic after the success of "Sledgehammer"...songs such as "Steam" and "Kiss That Frog". Things weren't helped though due to the venue being one of the worst caverns ever*, with big concrete pillars on lecturing the view of the stage, and truly awful sound quality! Sinead O'connor guested with him at that show. Looking back at the DVD I think my feelings must have been erroneous! I wasn't a fan of Manu Katché's playing over Jerry Marrotta who he replaced - just a personal thing. I've seen Peter a fee times, latterly on his "Scratch My Back" tour, when he did covers of favourite songs, with an orchestra only (the bands he covered were supposed to reciprocate and do a Gabriel song). You should definitely listen to that! Peter's music has been with me since his first album, loke you, I love the quality of his voice, and his empathetic, thoughtful lyrics. Weirdly I didn't even twig he had been in Genesis until Seconds Out, I made the connection from his name in the song credits. His explorations of World Music have led my musical taste to places I never would have found without him. I saw Peter and Rosanna Arquette together at a Daniel Lanois concert at London's Festival Hall (can you do some Lanois sometime?), I was an admirer of Rosanna, and thought Peter was a very lucky man!!! Also at that show were most of U2, and some Enos. *Earls Court was demolished in 2015.

FYI there is a new (June 2025) Peter Gabriel live album called "In the Big Room" on Spotify

I’m delighted. 😊 I do hope you & Megan watch this together now and again, as my lovely Sean and I do. I agree that this is PG at the peak of his powers (not that he’s a slouch now, mind you). It says a lot that he still has a lot of the same band now, some 30 years later! I’m so glad you enjoyed this. 🎁🙋‍♀️💖😎

Exquisite! My only time seeing Peter Gabriel live was during the American part of this tour. So much human emotion in those songs, yet so much joy in the rhythms!

Sid Levy

I sent Doug the Secret World LP, displayed behind him, as I thought this was an important album for him and Megan to have. This album and the tour that followed made an imprint on me and my wife’s soul.

PETER SALTER

I saw him at the NEC Birmingham UK back in May 1993 and it still stands out as one of the best concerts I have ever seen. A slightly different set list from the DVD, and as good as the DVD is the live experience was so much better.

Joy, joy, joy! Joy in the music, joy in the musicians playing the music, and joy of the musicians and of the audience in each other. Just the most musical experience. My intuition is that all this joy leaks out, not just from the DVD, but from everyone that touches (and touched) it, to all the connections they all have (and had). In this way music heals the world and leads us all to love. So that's what this experience did for me!

Despite that I also love the music of Rush, I'm glad the music of Peter Gabriel was chosen. There is something magical with his style, as you said. It's atmospheric and cinematic in the rhythm and melodies. Not sure if you knew, but the musical piece playing during the credits is from his brilliant music from The Last Temptation of Christ from the album called Passion. Not sure if you heard any of it yet, but it is so worth a listen. Nearly all instrumental with sounds of world music. There's no Sledgehammer here.

Manu Katche is a massively under-rated drummer. We saw Peter Gabriel last year and he's still as good as ever and still has Manu, Tony and David with him!

Herr Lefe

I saw Peter Gabriel in Stockholm 1993. The show ended with the song Biko. During the last part of the song he turned the microphone to the audience saying "In the end - it's up to you".

Rodney Griffin

Boy oh boy I'd love to see him live. My older sister did and said that he was Fantastic. So Jealous.🤣

Rodney Griffin

I would love to see Peter Gabriel as a Chauffeur.🤣

Stephen Derraugh

I am infinitely grateful. I have seen him many, many times, from his first solo tours (early days with audiences of 3 to 4K max -- small and intimate -- still NOT mainstream/cult) until i/o last year. He has always left it all on stage -- as have his bands. Too many superlatives to simply say that he is a singular talent, distinctly PG. We are lucky to have had him in our time as one of our time's great composers.
