As we near our 100th EPL episode, I'm returning to some of our most favorite bands to celebrate the milestone. This time, I'm asking you to choose between five albums by Genesis that I haven't yet heard in their entirety. All five of these choices come from our Master List of recommendations. Happy voting!

Getting in early with my vote for Trespass!

Beefjerky007

For me, Trespass. It’s such a lovely album that doesn’t get enough love. But I’d be happy with any of these!

As cool as the live video is, it is missing critical parts of their set from that tour, including Firth of Fifth. I just recently re-listened to Trespass, and confirmed that I like all of the songs.

Mark J Moerman

Trespass is such a beautiful piece of work, with such a charm and innocence about it, a sense of anything-is-possible. I think you will really enjoy it.

Gary Thobaben

You’ve already heard the most worthwhile parts of Duke.

Mark Karma

Trespass is my favorite Genesis album. I think it’s underrated and all too often overlooked. There’s not a bad song on it.

Tamás Polyák

Abacab. It's really different. It's not post prog, like the self titled album, or the last prog effort, like Duke. It's a terrific new wave album of the early eighties, one of its kind.

Adrian Goodrich

This is hard, as all are so good. You've already reacted to what matters on Duke (The Duke Suite is marvellous). But this is a no brainer. OK, you've heard "Stagnation" - so wonderful. I really think you need to listen to the whole album, though. These guys were SO young. And SO talented. Trespass for me, by a country mile.

Ian Dent

Trespass, like W&W is a wonderful, whimsical collection of songs that to me, seem to define the best of Genesis.

Adrian Goodrich

ps guys. I have seen Doug has had his first copyright strike from the vermin scumbag labels, on Youtube. SO SO wrong, and SO self-harming by the labels, but hey ho. Proud to be a supporter on here. I see Doug saying he makes no money from Youtube, because they demonetise most of his videos. This may end up being the only place we can enjoy Doug's thoughts and reactions. I'll happily pay what it takes, to make sure he and Meg can continue giving us such insight and pleasure.

As a further comment, most of "And then there were three" is pretty good too, IMO., the normal, slagging-off notwithstanding. Most especially "The Lady Lies " live, and also "Ballad of Big". The extended live outro on piano from Tony on the former still blows me away.

Ralph Darvill

ATTW3 gets so much criticism. I believe that the songwriting on there is pretty darned good...yes the band misses Hackett, but there are some great tunes there. Would love to hear Doug's take on it.

Fushigi

Oh not enough love for ABACAB here. Well, I don't dislike anything that's getting higher votes, though.

Adie

The thing is... Trespass is just beautiful!

Trespass has got to be one of my favorite Genesis albums, with White Mountain being my favorite song off of the album. It tells such an amazing story throughout the song.

Eusebio R-Z

I'm going with Live Shepperton because of the great performance of Dancing with the Moonlit Knight (and, it includes as well The Musical Box, Watcher of the Skies, Supper's Ready and I Know what I Like). Yes, some of it has been reacted to but it is probably time to revisit these great pieces

Ruth James

ATTWT was the album that really got me into Genesis on the back of Follow You Follow Me but Burning Rope is my favourite piece on the album and possibly my favourite Genesis song behind Firth of Fifth. Years later I got to know Trespass, which is also great. I an sure Doug will get to all of these eventually 🙂

Claudio Fernandes

ATTWT is a great album, but Trespass is just BEAUTIFUL.

Tom (the soggy one)

Has to be "Trespass"- complete the Gabriel era. I know, I know- "From Genesis To Revelation", but there's no hurry on that.

Christopher Arters (relative timeworx - Mr.A)

If the Shepperton Studios option includes the video - then this is a must see. To experience this entire concert - given the timeframe, the limited budget - it's remarkable. I was fortunate enough to the the tribute band "The Musical Box" put on this show live and it just underscored what a remarkable experience seeing this in real time must have been. Surprised to see all the love for Trespass... which is a stepping stone effort for the band that was quickly eclipsed by Nursery Cryme. ...And Then... is a greatly under-rated effort, mostly because it came on the heels of the brilliant two-fer of Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering. Duke marked the significant morphing of the band into something other than Genesis, though it has some emotional moments. ABACAB is where Thelma and Louise decide to drive off the cliff.

Adie

Has to be Trespass for me, but with no disrespect to the other great choices. The only Genesis albums I'm not bothered about are their first and their last.

Pam Norris

Trespass for me. It’s a no brainer.

Charles A Herndon

"Trespass" is a lovely album, but for me, it's ATTWT all day and all night. It's the album that provided my introduction to Genesis, and, for me, it's a tour de force of songwriting, melody, musicianship, and the varied wonders of mid-career, morphing Genesis. For me, it completes the triad of Trick, Wind, and then ATTWT before we launched into the poppier 1980s sound of the band. If you can't get to ATTWT now, Doug, please treat yourself soon to an analysis of ATTWT, still one of my favorite Genesis albums in their entire canon.
