This is an unedited version of episode 1005. On YouTube, the video content of the 2nd selection caused a block. So, I replaced it with a censored video that only includes the audio. I'm happy to make this uncensored video available here.

Ray , that was a great choice. Superb.

I understand that 4 versions would have been too much, and that choosing the Deutsche Grammophon version was probably better because of the better orchestra but, I can't help feeling that the dynamics of the DG version missed the target by an awful lot. In my opinion dynamics are a very important element of Choral works and I'd really suggest that if you liked this music, do yourself a favor, find "Kimi wo nosete Budokan" on YouTube, and listen to the first minute, to understand how the transition from children to full chorus is really intended to be.

You should watch Studio Ghibli. I do not really care for anime. I've tried to get into various shows and they have all failed every time. Studio Ghibli is the exception. They are the only anime that I will watch. Their movie Spirited Away used to play on...Nickelodeon (either that or Cartoon Network) I think occasionally, like once a year and I would always get excited if I managed to catch it even though it kinda spooked me in some parts.

My favorite Ghibli film to this day. Still remember when I first saw it in Japanese! Hayao Miyazaki is a fabulous storyteller, and Joe Hisaishi is a wonderful composer. Really great stuff! Love it!

Music really is the universal language when it’s true music and not produced synthesis of good music

That’s because studio Givi is brilliant alive and original other anime can be one step removed and seem like nothing more than stylized representation of the underlying idea

This was lovely, makes me want to see the film. Many people will feel the same so it maddens me that you had your copyright issues when just trying to bring the studio to a wider audience. Thank you for sharing this Doug.

Still need to watch it. Maybe I could find the DVD somewhere
