This is a long episode, but it's full of some great progressive rock music!

Y'all narrowly picked Bridge Across Forever by Transatlantic in the poll, and every song on this album was a first time listen for me. In these four tracks, the band treats us to a bit of everything we look for in a great prog rock album. I did my best to keep up! I hope you enjoy!

I haven't heard this stuff in YEARS! Mostly because Neal refuses to have his music on Spotify. While I applaud his decision, I really miss listening to all of their albums. Although I will note that their live albums are on Spotify, so ??? Either way. What a wonderful collaboration. Side note that Flying Colors albums are on Spotify and other streaming services.

Was my fav album in 2002 or whenever it was released. Peak Neal era. V, SMPT:e, Bridge Across Forever, Snow. Man oh man.

This record is a musical monolith. Is it weird that one of my favorite bands isn't quite a real band? The output from their 5 albums easily outpaces some icons of the last several decades. That is surely highly opinionated, but also rings true in sheer output. Weather you like them or not, it's pretty undeniable they are a force to be reckoned with.

The next step is to listen to the Live in Europe live album which includes all of these songs, but Suite Charlotte Pike is doubled in length by embedding most of the Abbey Road side two medley

Tamás Polyák

Yeah the ending of Stranger In Your Soul is a hidden track with the original idea of ending Suite Charlotte Pike, but they shortened it on the album.

You might think that the title "Suite Charlotte Pike" is similar to the title of CSN's "Suite Judy Blue Eyes"... but Charlotte Pike is a road in Nashville Tennessee... so I thought it was more of a nod to the Beatles' "Abbey Road" and its long medley(s). TA even interpolated some songs from Abbey Road side 2 between the movements of Suite Charlotte Pike when performing live (as Chris M mentioned.)

Seconding the Live In Europe spin. It's one of my favorite live albums

Jim Reeves

Never listened to these guys in all these years. Reminds me a bit of late Styx. Let the flames begin! ;)

Bill Coonley

When Transatlantic started, those guys were in other bands, each with their own impressive catalogue of complex music. Amazing stuff!

Okay this is the episode that I have waited for! It made me finally re-subscribe because I have to see how mind blowing this album is going to be to you. Stranger In Your Soul as the band says is "The Epic to end all Epics" That song is the true meaning of ending a song with "Let's bring it on home boys!" That last part...you just have to go along with it saying "Number Nine.....Number Nine...."
