This is the first time that we've dedicated a Fan Favorites episode to our favorite Academy-Award-Winning musical selections. The result (after very close voting) is an eclectic mix of songs from classic movies of several different generations. I thoroughly enjoyed recording this one, and I hope you enjoy it as well.

You've never saw a Bond movie !!! The music of John Barry alone should have drawn you in . You need to start a movie reaction channel Doug, there's so many movies you would love and don't even get me started on the amazing soundtracks that are intertwined with great movies.

With regards to Bond movies, Muse has a song called Supremacy which definitely should have been featured in a Bond movie.

I think this kind of "themed" suggestion is really fun!

What a variety of music to listen to. Few highlights for me. Funny story about the Top Gun love song. When my family all went to see the movie in 1986, we were in a huge 70MM theater of about 200 people. During the love scene when that song played, one of the lights on the end of the aisle literally blew and sparks went flying. Wasn't enough for a fire, thank God. But my sister and I looked at each other and I said, "What a love scene!" Doug, you MUST start a Bond marathon starting with Shir Shean Connery: Goldfinger! I still want that Aston Martin DB5! In the Adele song, I love how they incorporate the Bond theme within the song. When you sit down to watch Lawrence of Arabia, set a whole day because it is 4 hours long. Worth every minute. If you can, see it in the theater. The best home theaters still will never do that movie justice in sight and sound! I believe that Enya was the last Elvish muse who stayed behind from the Undying Lands to gift us with her voice. Thanks to Meg for making us a blubbering mess after hearing John Williams ET. Going to fetch some Reeses Pieces now.

kjdarch1 .

"Train dreams" is an excellent 10 of a movie!

I had the same reaction to "Saying Goodbye" as you, and I can't even remember if I ever watched E.T. (must be at least 40 years ago). John Williams is indeed a genius (nothing new here, though).

Interestingly, I've seen all the movies represented here except for Philadelphia and Shaft. I didn't actually make a submission because, as I went through the list, people put in what I would have! Lawrence of Arabia is a great movie and has a fantastic score. And for the Bond films, it's best to start at the beginning. The Connery ones are classic, and many of the Roger Moore ones are quite good. But they get very hit/miss after that, with convoluted plots and excessive special effects.

Bruce's song is so darned poignant, that lyric "my clothes don't fit me any more" is heartbreaking. Peter Gabriel's and Neil Young's contributions to that soundtrack are also very good. My daughter likes to sing at open mic', and she sometimes does "Skyfall". Of course Isaac Hayes is a classic. If you do it again could you squeeze in Ennio Morricone's soundtrack to "The Mission"? It didn't win an Oscar for music, but did for cinematography. The "Gabriel's Oboe" theme is sublime.
