This month, we're looking for your favorite songs by Australian and New Zealand artists. I was very pleased to see so many submissions of musicians whose work I've not yet heard! And, there's a few sprinkled in that I have heard previously. But, I've never analyzed any of these songs! SO...YOUR TASK IS TO SELECT UP TO 6 of your preferred selections. Happy voting!

Split Enz is a very unique band. Not sure if these songs are from their early albums (e.g. Mental Notes) or the early 80's era when they transitioned into shorter songs and more MTV friendly videos.

I saw Neil Finn in concert when he toured briefly with Fleetwood Mac. it was pretty cool

Frankie Cerniglia

Check out Crazy by Icehouse and Something So Strong by Crowded House

Jason Braun

C'mon Toehider! The little band that could!

Allen

Wow! No Midnight Oil?

JT Siren

Apparently Toehider is flying under the radar. Dude is kind of a genius, like, with music.

Chris Gadsby

Can we have some love for Salmonella Dub and Split Enz? The only two New Zealand bands in the vote. Surely we don’t want an Aussie white wash???

Ruth James

1980's was clearly a very good decade for Aussie & Kiwi bands!

John Osgood

I don't see the song I posted by Australian extreme metal band Mortification.

Bruce1952

Bee Gees. Lovely Days Lonely Nights

I am surprised Tame Impala hasn't had more votes, considering how popular they are in the Psychedelic Rock and Pop scene, and have been over the past 16 years! If you've just voted based on who you know, maybe check them out on Doug's playlist....im sure you'll change your mind once you hear them! ;-)

I do believe that Nick Cave needs an enormous amount more love. Not even 1 track reviewed by Doug, and such a unique and worthy voice! I do love Split Enz, and AC/DC and Men at Work, but if you've used up your votes and voted twice for any of those, please consider changing one vote to support one of the most truly Australian voices of great artistic integrity. PS If you voted for an artist that will certainly make the cut, perhaps you could steer that vote to Nick Cave?!
