Instead of polling on specific albums, I'm interested in which of these bands (which we've all heard before in this series) should be next up in the Extended Play Lounge. I'll pick an album from the winning band to review next week!

Duff

My favorite, I first found you listening to my favorite track from my favorite album, The Revealing Science of God, from Tales. I don't think you've done Union or The Ladder or either of the first two albums. Any one is great !

Jim Reeves

I was just relistening to Yes Union and realized that Doug hasn't reacted to most if not all of this one.

Simon Carter

I prefer classic Yes, but if you were to do something later, make it Fly From Here.

Mark Karma

You’ve already featured my favorite, The Yes Album. For your purposes I would think Tales from Topographic Oceans would be the best choice. (Edit: someone just told me you’d already done this one, but searching your posts for “topographic” says “no results” so I’m not sure.) It’s long, so if you’re only doing one section, I’d say do the first part, The Revealing Science of God. Ritual would be my second choice, but all the parts are excellent.

Joe Harley

It looks like Yes is going to win this. With that in mind, I recommend stepping away from the chronological order, and suggest "Magnification". It's notable for being Jon Anderson's last recording with the band, and for their utilizing an orchestra rather than a keyboard player. There is some really lovely music on this album. Anderson, Squire, Howe, and White. Alan also plays some piano.

Tamás Polyák

Also the new Yes album, Aurora is really good.

Trevor Cotterell

please can we go backwards to Time & A Word? Or did I miss that?

Illume Eltanin

I’ll be happy with Yes, but since they’re currently leading I’ll give my support to The Moodies, so Dr. Doug knows there’s still interest in him continuing that musical journey.

Klaus B

There is a new Yes album out there, perhaps would be interesting to have it on EPL. Howe is the only original band member, however the album doesn’t fall short.

Todd Howard

I just want more Fish-era Marillion.

Todd Howard

and don’t get me wrong… as a 15 year old, Yes 9012live was my first arena concert. But Yes gets so much coverage on the internet these days…. couldn’t love them any more, not possible but seriously… what albums haven’t you covered yet? (open to knowing, no tone implied herezzz)

Douglas Hogg

Looks like Yes for the win, but if by some miracles Marillion get there, then it should either be Marbles of Clutching At Straws. The best album with Steve H, and the best album with Fish.

Jesstifer

For a studio album, the time is now for Time and a Word. But also, I don't think you've done much in the way of live recordings. Yessongs is a groundbreaking album (and film!) and Yesshows is even better sonically. Yes Symphonic Live, with the Dutch Youth Orchestra, is fantastic, as is the bootleg Live at QPR from the Relayer tour.

SelfInstructor

Crazy loonie thought, MTTS or Fly From Here. I can never get enough of Tales though.

Johnny Bell

Would love to see you do either of the first two Yes albums.

Steve Hall

Yes just released the 1976 Roosevelt Stadium show. They absolutely crush Gates of Delirium and Ritual.

Tom (the soggy one)

You need to get with me for album choices if Yes wins. Just sayin'...

Allen

Any chance of adding Jethro Tull to the mix? I voted for the Moody Blues only because there's one major album left to review that is an interesting transitional period away from the classic prog era (late 1960s-mid 1970s).

Adie

I picked Marillion, because there's so much of their best material waiting to be heard here, but as a Yes fan of many years, I'll be glad to listen to another of their albums - actually quite interesting as to which will win, since the remaining albums are diverse and spread over a very long period. It's good to see ELO coming out well in the poll - there's still a lot to hear (not least my own EPL proposal of 'no answer' - "just sayin'")

Robin L.

Those Moody albums evoke their era perfectly. A great side to side experience.

Scot Poland

Had 3 choices but only for specific albums. Yes, either Yes or Time and a Word. Queen, News of the World (vastly underrated IMO). ELO, the first album with Roy Wood.

Digibirder

You haven’t done “Clutching At Straws” by Marillion yet Doug. The best Fish album with them IMO, and one of the best overall. It’s kind of a “semi-concept” and its themes are so very relevant today. Especially “White Russian”.

CrimSin

this may be a crazy request, but would you ever consider covering The Astonishing by Dream Theater? people seem to really hate on it, but it's a really good listen, albeit a long one, but I'd love to see your thoughts on it!
