I think she's just mute. Being mute and deaf are two different things. Mute just means you can't speak or talk, deaf means you can't hear anything

Going by Tom's head cannon that the Lynx Prince does not and must not know Reed is human it will be a fun evening for Daniels and Reed with unrehearsed explanations about how they know each other without blowing her cover. Hopefully they are good at improvisational acting. Fortunately they are protected by plot armor so any bumbling mishaps will all work out in the end.

Actually, wasn't this answered in a previous sketch? "Caught Unlynxed" showed Lynx Prince (we have really got to come up with a name for this guy) seeing Reed's human form and still loving her. So if that sketch is canon, he already knows, at least that she's human and probably working for the Guard. This is just the first inkling of her rank. If anything, Reed might be more nervous about her cover being blown within her own organization; even if Daniels didn't recognize her on sight, it wouldn't take Sherlock Holmes to put 2 and 2 together: They know she's on undercover assignment to the Lynx Royal Court, Lynx Prince shows up with an attractive date who instantly acts awkward at seeing him, QED.

Yes, she's just mute! Therie can hear fine, she was simply born with underdeveloped vocal cords and cannot speak. She can make chirps and other sounds, but doesn't have the finer control to form words, typically. She's learned to adapt and is very expressive in other ways.

In the "Caught Unlynxed" sketch it wasn't definitively answered. Tom even noted "Does he even recognize it's the same person? Who knows!" indicating that there is a possibility (now upgraded to definitely) that from the Prince's point of view the human he discovered and lynx Alice are different people. He didn't witness the transformation. He just happened to discover this attractive human female in lynx Reed's room. Perhaps she is lynx Reed's friend or employee/servant.

It’s a lovely thought that Therie and the Prince already know each other — they probably met during a diplomatic exchange with Dahlia. I wonder if the Prince knows that Alice is part of the militia? That will certainly make for an interesting double date. Personally, I hope that both relationships will have a positive influence on how their peoples view one another.

Sorry, I really don’t like the idea. For me, it was always clear that the Prince had realized that Alice is actually human, and that’s exactly why he proposed to her again. Turning him into a superficial womanizer feels very disappointing to me. 😞

While I agree with you @Joshu Kel'Machan, I can't bring myself to argue with the creator of the story when he says that the character is unaware of the connection between Reed's two forms. And I was really hoping both the prince was not a womanizer *and* that LT. Reed wouldn't be so easily beguiled by such a man. 😒😒😒

Well, the Prince proposed to Alice while she was in her lynx form, and as soon as he saw her in human form, he proposed again (in the sketch ‚Caught Unlynxed‘). That could mean he loves Alice as a person. Or — if he didn’t realize that Lynx Alice and Human Alice are the same person — it might just mean he’s a womanizer. Of course, there may be other interpretations as well…
