It's a bit sad that we didn't get to see more of Maddie and Adelaide together in the comic. the sweetness of this sketch is similar to that of a seeing a tigress carry her cub in her jaws; Adelaide could literally ripped a basitin in two but here, she gently rocks Maddie to sleep.

Correction. Upon closer inspection the soles extend to further. So I have to assume that the heels of the slippers are fabric and tie in with ankle coverings to keep them from slipping.

Well, it's a Stratocratie, so Madelyn didn't have a title else that "Daughter of the King" and the privilege to habit in the castle. BUT, if her mother die, the only way to become the successor is to BEAT ALL THE OTHER PRETENDANT UNTIL THEY BEG FOR MERCY! °w° !! It's not hereditary ^^

If I remember right, he cooked good for Maddie when he was angry at her about Flora’s food being knocked over, talking with dark Trace happened in a scene where he was trying to cook for Flora.

Still trying to figure out how the Bastian Governance works. It looks like an Androgynous Monarchy where both men and women can be considered King. That is assuming that there has been a male king in Bastion society.

I don't think so. The king title is granted to the ruler of the Basitins regardless of their gender. By that logic I do believe that Madelyn wouldn't obtain a title simply by being the kings daughter.

Do we know it's not hereditary for a fact? As far as I'm aware, all we know is that Adelaide had to fight. We don't know that that happens every time. For all we know, it could be hereditary, and Adelaide had to fight because the previous king left no heir.

"King", in Basitin society, appears to be strictly an androgynous title referring to the ruler of the Basitin people. And, considering that Adelaide had to fight other would-be kings (some of whom were clearly male) to become King, I think we can safely say there have been male Basitin kings.
