Well a panther is another name for a puma, cougar, catamount, or mountain lion. Cougars, along with being the biggest cat with a true purr, also have the distinction of owning the most different names for a species. What most folks call a panther is the black variety that is the namesake of the upcoming Marvel movie, as well as Bagheera in the Jungle Book; but those are actually melanistic (the opposite of an albino) leopards or jaguars. If you look closely at the 'black panthers' you can see their spots hiding under the black coloring.

"Panther" isn't actually a species. They're melanistic (black-pigmented) jaguars, leopards, or cougars. Possibly also tigers and lions, but those are extremely rare. Out of curiosity, which one would this dude be?

A "Panther" is the same thing as a "Puma", "Cougar", or "Mountain Lion"; all different terms for the same species. They definitely exist, and are definitely not the same thing as a Leopard or a Jaguar lol Does not refer to a big cat that is black, no idea where people started getting that idea.

I don't think there are Ursidae Keidran. Flora named all the known Keidran early in the run of the comic and ursids weren't mentioned, only felids and canids.
