If i remember correctly. Originally Basitins weren't their own species. They were just a type of Keidran, but Tom changed his mind about that and made them a distinct species.

I actually know this one. OLD old lore, retconned over 20 years ago. Originally, back before Flora was even a tiger, the Basitin race was supposed to be all but extinct, leaving only humans and keidren, and Keith was one of (if not the only) living basitin remaining, which was going to be a major plot point. But that was before some of our dear readers were even BORN. Gods I feel old...
