If you cheated, why do I have MORE money than I should?" Adira: "My jar filled up about midway through the night. I didn't have anywhere else to put it, so I threw the extra in yours." Maren: "You cheated... by ADDING money to my jar? Why?" Adira: "I didn't want you to feel bad. I had an unfair advantage. It's my tavern. The people here known me better. They're more comfortable with me, even the humans. You shouldn't have to work harder for the same tips just because you're new here." Maren: "I... Thank you?" Adira: "Don't mention it. Either way, I made sure I still had a little more at the end of the night, so I still win! Now to the matter at hand... my prize." Maren: "We... never did decide what the prize for winning would be, did we? Um... do you want the rest of my tips?" Adira: "Oh, I've a few ideas about that. Let me go put Maeve to bed first. After that, I'm sure we can work... something out... between the two of us. But you can keep your tips. Who knows, play your cards right and you might even pick up a couple more before the night is over..." Maren: *Blushes*

If I recall correctly, “Datter” is either Dutch, or Norse for “daughter”. So, Karen and Maren, or their mother, or ancestors further up the line on either parental side, got their name from being the daughter/s of tavernkeeps. Also, it was the other way around. Sythe was deemed a traitor to the wolves by helping Maren, Karen, Red, and Raine… right after summarily executing Postal Delivery Tom.
