Agreed, he would prefer to be free (which he now is) but he refuses to make things worse for himself or others. And I always say that Mike is the goodest boy since out of these three, he is the only one who never attempted any violence on Eric or betrayed Eric's trust - since Evals attempted to do it out of anger and *Kathrin* did it out of obsession.

I am kinda curious about this exchange to be honest. I mean they are all bound in slavery which is effed, but, I never really thought about the whole complexity within those bound individuals in their homes or Owners home. How they see others like themselves, in their position. I know it may not make all that much sense, but this is a bit interesting. But still slavery is bad. Slavery is always bad. But still this look in is still something that brought something to mind.

Well, Historically, the slaves who was inside the house were more likely to be the Favorite of the Plantation. Thusly more closer to the Master Family than those who were in the Fields. The canon Comic shows this as well due to Kat allowing to ignore commands while Evals was basically electrocuted into submission.

Or rather, Evals is jelly. I wouldn’t say that Kathrin was raised in innocence because of what she was bred to be, but, her personality is an innocent one because she’s only known acting in a sexual manner. This is something I feel her interactions with the main group will change.

Took me a moment to find it, but yes, on page 310, Eric says they did fool around occasionally. So I would have to say that what has ultimately happened is: Yes, they slept together occasionally, then Eric developed respect for her to the point that he thought it disrespectful to sleep with Kat any more (which just goes to show that he knows that humping anything with fur and breasts that is unwilling, or alternatively, are technically your property, and thus unable to refuse, is, to put it much more lightly than I should, disrespectful). This, then, leads to Kat yearning for the return of “quality time” with him, largely due to her mis-association of the intimacy and feelings resultant of coitus with love, when, in reality, it was two mid/late-teens messing around, with petty-love involved, but curiosity more than anything. As she’s building relationships with the other characters, she’s beginning to see, between Trace and Flora, as well as feel, between herself and the remainder of the cast, what love really is, which I’m certain will help her find and build a real and loving relationship that will last. The fact that Eric freed Kathrin makes me think, will he become more romantic with her? On page 660, is where the fatal “sister” was dropped with Kat using it on page 702 in a seemingly upset way, so I guess that unless she voices her feelings to him, probably not.

Q: Is Patreon filtering away "serious" comments and/or comments with links? Twice now I have placed comments with references - this time on the frequency of slavery (40 millions 2016, or 0.5 % of the global population) - and the next day they are gone. It's just that for me, humor blend with non-humor, so I don't mind injections of humor into serious conversations and vice versa ... but that's me.

interesting seeing them side by side like this, from what I understand Mike and Evals lived in Keidren lands and were captured as slaves, while Kat was specifically bred for the purpose. It's difficult to imagine how such relationships can be interpreted since slavery hasn't been part of our society for such a long time.

Exactly, Misogyny is prejudice against women, for being women. Evals isn't hating Kat because she's a woman, He hates that she gets to live in the house, wear better clothes and doesn't have to wear a collar, which is not just a symbol of slavery but is actually a magical mind control device. So yeah, he would mad. Plus, this is first impression. So they don't know how nice and caring she is. Sorry, but I don't think slaves are automatically friendly to one and other, especially ones that get treated better. She turns out to be nice of course, and even stands up for them. But that hasn't happened yet.

I'm not sure on Evals, but Mike was born in captivity, that's one of his big stumbling blocks with being freed, as he doesn't know what that means to be a free Keidran (cue picture of Mike out on the savanna with a spear looking disconcerted).

Looking at this sketch again I'm glad it's not just me that saw it that way :D I kind of like the idea of innocent young Kat being able to casually carry around a cannonball that would be maybe 100+ pounds of stone or cast iron at that diameter. "Now Katherin, I know we've usually had you helping with errands and household chores, but the navy is refitting the fleet today and they're looking for extra hands in ordinance distribution, think you can move these for them?"
