Hard to say, A down vote system means less negative criticism in other forms, while it is likely most people can ignore the down votes at leisure. (Unless your comment was personal, which in many cases unfortunately includes personal opinions.) Hopefully in a decade we will know these things, but it is a bit fluid right now (so interesting).
