Ooh, speaking of, there's your ex." Laura: "Keith? Where? Is Natani with him?" Kat: "Don't look, what if he sees you? Oh, never mind, he's coming over." Keith: "Laura, I--" Laura: "Hi Keith. Funny seeing you here." Keith: "I... need... some chips..." *Grabs all-dressed and walks away awkwardly* Kat: "Wow, that was awkward." Laura: "He likes All-dressed, we can't--" Kat: "You're reaching" Laura: "I know. I think we have everything." Kat: "Not quite, I need to grab a magazine real quick" *Kat walks to magazine aisle, sees Raine flipping through Cosmo. Raine panics and hides behind display stand* Kat: "Raine? Is that you?" Raine: "Nope!" but she is betrayed by a floofy white tail poking out from behind display. Kat: "Ah. Cosmo. Anyone in particular?" Raine: "Who, me? Naw, it's... um... interesting." Kat: *reading cover* "'Complete guide to wolfboys'. Well, good luck with him." Kat: *mumbles to self* Dang it, I though Zen didn't like that kind of stuff. Oh, it's on" Laura: *at checkout* "Find what you were looking for?" Kat: "Not really, no." Tom (Cashier): "That'll be 150 gold" Kat: *whispers to Laura* 150?! That's triple our budget!" Laura: "I know, I know. We'll just have to live off Costco samples and Walmart for a while." Kat: "I learned everything about finances to avoid this, not to let you come and ruin it!" Laura: "Well I'm sorry. Maybe you'll just have to go a month or two without your mana mask." Tom (Cashier): "Um, hello? It's still 150 gold." *Kat pays, Laura picks up bags. As they exit the store, they bump into Natani* Natani: "Have you guys seen Keith? It honestly takes him an hour to buy booze." Kat: "Check the chips aisle" Natani: *fades as she walks away* I mean really, I'm not picky! It's not like I'm asking for the perfect wine, I'm totally happy with anything stronger then hand sanitizer." Kat: "Are they..." Laura: "Not yet." Kat: "Yet?" Laura: "Well..." Kat: "Ugh, Laura! What did I say about stalking people on Twitter?"

"You cannot out work a poor diet." Depends on how you define "poor". If a diet is complete, calorie rich food are just bringing in more calories per mass - which you can work out and/or portion control. It's not healthy to obsess, so while I don't have any statistics there is plenty of anecdote that sports models have a day or so per week to freak out.

Low muscle density seems to correlate with adipose tissue. ["Lower skeletal muscle density, indicating greater infiltration of adipose tissue into muscles," https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30537557/ ] The body fat content is a function of lots of stuff, so I don't think that is specific for humans, but if you have references that would be interesting. What humans have evolved to do is to be able to amass more adipose tissue than other mammals without too much problem seems like, given the opportunity. (One hypothesis is that humans, which population bottlenecked to 1/10 the historical bottlenecks of, say, chimps and bonobos, evolved to handle nutrient poor conditions. ... I'll bring out the chips.)
