New parents Cornelius and Cathleen celebrate their first winter together with Keith, suggested by Dadrobit!

I did a less serious version of this drawing on stream which I've attached as well, but this was more in the spirit of the suggestion.

Cute.

Tomtom

Hold on to those happy times, Keith. It'll all go to hell once you're a teenager. You'll go through good times and bad, you'll be blamed for something and some things you'll blame on others, but there'll nary be a dull moment.

Fisk

That lamp tho

amenon

Simply beautiful ^^

Jordan Dean Ezekude

Worse yet, even if things get better, there'll always be someone trying to control you and your life...unless you're willing to break your shackles of fate by any means necessary.

Jordan Dean Ezekude

So even Basitins celebrate Christmas after all. But I can't help but wonder if Cornelius and Cathleen knew who or what they were bringing into the world...Should Keith finally decide to break free from his chains of mortality, his parents may've given birth to a fallen angel rather than a child.

Elijah Jackson

Now we need to see Trace and Flora in this exact same scenario with their child. Anyone else agree?

Brandon Hood

Wow, Tom, this piece is a lot more polished than some of your other sketches.

DarthKeidran

This is so beautiful, I really hope we have a Keiser Family side comic soon to tell Cathleen and Cornelius' story as well as Keith's pre-banishment childhood.

DarthKeidran

I love this comment Jordan. It's just too bad Alabaster killed Cathleen, leading to his harsh life, but then again, he would have never met Laura, then Trace and Flora, and especially, Natani.

Tomtom

You can never have enough of Trace and Flora in adorable scenarios.

Crimson Alexander

holy shit, that paw lamp is the best thing I've seen all day

MidnightBlue78

Both suggestions are wonderful, but this one with Keith as a baby in Cathleen's arms is very heartwarming.

ZombieAstronaut

I can't unsee a harpoon gun in Cornelius's hand.

Serpentfrog

Well, this turned out differently then when it appeared on stream. I like both, but it is interesting that Tom "fixed" it by making it the first Christmas as intended in the suggestion.

Sunfish43

How was it different?

Serpentfrog

The one on stream featured Keith being gifted his spear...

unsteddy

I came to this sketch to laugh, not to feel. :,(

dadrobit

Literally jaw dropping. My goodness gracious. Thank you so much Tom.

dylan hogan

Does baby Keith have to wear baby ankle guard/foot cloth?

Jordan Dean Ezekude

Well, his feet are already blanketed in cloth if that counts.

Jordan Dean Ezekude

Cornelius was planning on running away with Kathleen to abandon Keith. I think Alabaster was desperate to keep Cornelius to himself, which unfortunately didn't work out the way he hoped. So it's a lose-lose situation for Keith either way. Nonetheless, unless he decides to finally break all the ties binding him, he may never truly be free. Even his advisor, who was willing to leave Natani for dead, tried to control him...

Sunfish43

Ah, ok. I think I like this version better then. Thanks!

Sunfish43

I try and think about both scenarios, and I think it would be more worthwhile for cannon Keith than Bastin Keith. He has more friends as opposed to just Alaric, and as mentioned above life would not have been good on the island. He also made himself a general out of the ordeal as opposed to probably being a runt citizen due to his parents leaving.

Tomtom

Sometimes control is a good thing. Trace had nobody controlling him when he took control of the Templar, and look at how swimmingly things turned out because of that.

Thomas Fischbach

No, decency laws don't apply to children. Same goes for gender segregation, for obvious reasons. Children are considered innocent and therefore exempt until they reach maturity.

Jordan Dean Ezekude

But isn't there irony in this rule? Not all children are innocent...

Jordan Dean Ezekude

I don't think he wanted to be Ambassador any more than Lt. Aster. Regardless, no matter what his status, there'll always be someone trying to control him and his life. Unless he decides to break free by any means necessary, he'll never be truly happy...

Jordan Dean Ezekude

I don't mean self-control. I mean being controlled by others. I feel like everyone except Trace and Natani are holding Keith back. Lynn almost letting Natani die and trying to control Keith is proof of that. And Keith has been letting others walk on him for too long...Will he ever be willing to go from puppet to puppeteer?

Hello

...but little did young Keith know he was destined for something greater...

Tomtom

I wasn't speaking about self-control either. Trace was Grand Templar, so he had no superiors, and it's heavily implied that the Templar became much more powerful than whoever's in charge of the humans. And unless Keith assassinates the Basitin monarchy and declares himself King(or Queen, since their King is a female :P), he'll always have someone controlling him. And as for Lynn letting Natani die, none of them knew that he woke up and escaped. If Keith hadn't been held back, he would have made it to the ship, only to be killed or injured in the explosion. And for Lynn trying to control him, he's been around the Basitins for longer, and thus is more willing to follow and enforce their laws. Plus, he's an adviser, and an adviser who didn't give advice would suck at their job.
