I got a PS5 recently so I gave the latest Spider-Man game a playthrough on the new platform.

Re-watching this I realise this review came out pretty negative so I'll reiterate that these are good games with a lot that's impressive about them, they just don't really hit the right notes for me.

A lot of cool stuff coming out soon that I'm excited about now though. When this goes live Returnal should be out and of course I'm stocked for Resi 8 next week. Exciting stuff.

I'll check in with you guys again soon.

Totally same on the sentiment about sentimental character writing. I was hoping Insomniach had changed the game up more, but I guess it was in the cards that it'd be pretty similar to the last one. I liked hearing this take on the Miles game tho, for natural reasons it feels like a good continuation of the talking points in the Spider-Man video. Maybe that's what's got me thinking about this, but I think it would be nice to see these shorter patreon review videos come to the channel in some capacity. A brief 10-minute breakdown of a recent release would break up the wait between longer reviews of the mostly older games on the channel. It already does for us on patreon obviously, but I don't think there would be any harm in letting the oldest ones out into the public on a slower timetable now that there's 10 of these reviews. Might make people more aware of the benefits of contributing than anything.

When you showed off some Infamous gameplay it was pretty wild to me just how striking that game still looks. You saying it's locked at 60 on the ps5 makes me wanna put it back in and do another playthrough. Also, very excited for your God of War Ascension video. Interesting that you chose Ascension, the sort of black sheep of the franchise, to make a video on. I'm a huge fan of the GoW franchise so it's nice to see someone making content about those games.

Thanks Blooper, it's very flattering to hear these videos which I throw together in a relatively much quicker fashion are considered by some to be of high enough quality to be public on the channel. The thing is, one of the reasons I can give myself the freedom to make Insider reviews so much quicker, is that I know they're only going to be seen by a few people. If I knew they were gonna go live publicly to thousands and beyond I'd probably toil away at them for much longer, and then they would end up getting in the way of the production of the bigger videos. Also the backers here are people familiar with my work and trust me to some extent I'd like to think. So it's a little less important for me to substantiate every claim in an Insider video, since I assume backers trust I'm not lying. When someone watches a public video of me they might be the first time they've watched me and be less forgiving though. I'd feel like I'd have to spend much more time editing and researching these videos if I knew they were also gonna be seen my completely new viewers. That said, I do hear where you're coming from, perhaps I could test the waters and upload one of the more detailed Insider videos publicly here and there if there's a big draught between main videos. Though I do want to always offer something extra to those who back me on here and generally I think the Insider reviews are a good way to go about that.
