This was fantastic. I couldn’t believe two hours had already passed by the time you got to the wrap-up. Really absorbing stuff, as usual. One thing I really appreciated is you focusing on the more bittersweet elements of the stories being told. I think so many people who only know about SH through more recent things like P.T. tend to exclusively hype up how scary and dark Silent Hill is. And, yeah, that is true a lot of the time, but a big element of the classic Team Silent games I’ve always admired are the hints of bittersweetness, positivity, and hope that can potentially break through all the crushing darkness and nightmarish imagery. For every three or so well-earned creepy moments, there’s a moment that just tears your guts out emotionally like Mary’s letter in SH2’s “leave” ending. I think a lot of people either forget or simply aren’t aware that Silent Hill is much more than “Pyramid Head go boo”.
