I never knew where the term knots came from either...fascinating!

The battle scenes during the climax were really intense, but spectacularly filmed. Captain Aubrey has such a commanding presence. I haven’t read the book(s), so I wonder if Russell Crowe’s character was based on a real British naval officer or a combination of characters.

Glad to see that Will made it through and survived. An interesting taste of what like was actually like on the sea of those times. The guitar and the violin at the end. You know that they played those tunes frequently on their voyages. Thanks for offering this film for our enjoyment.

The days of "Wooden Ships & Iron Men". You may not have seen it but the nets at the front the boat next to the Figurehead is where the term "Going to the Head" come from. The wind would take anything from the people and move it away from the ship as the wind was coming from the back. If some sailor went off the back the boat the Captain might get "Pissed Off"! He would be the only parson on the ship (usually) with a private head. When he pulls the curtains back on that area talking about his boat, thats the curtain for that area.
