You mentioned in your outro that this movie was a lot grittier than you were expecting. The writer, Shane Black (who co-wrote and directed Iron Man 3), has said that his screenplay was originally darker and grittier than the final result. But producer Joel Silver collaborated with him to tone it down some, and the chemistry between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover helped to lighten the tone as well. So who knows what kind of disturbing scenes we may have seen had the movie been filmed as Black originally intended. I, for one, am very happy with the final result. Another example of how dedicated the director and actors were to delivering an action filled classic…both Mel Hibson and Gary Busey were trained in 3 different martial arts techniques (Jiu-Jitsu, Jailhouse Rock, and Capoeira) for their final fight scene.

I'm still too old for this shit.

I like the progression of friendship between Martin and Roger, tense at first and then good-natured jibes later on. Love the scene with the smiley face at the gun range. Thank you for posting this movie.

Hi Kate! Lethal Weapon is one of the crown jewels of 80s action! The other franchises are: Die Hard, Terminator, Rambo, and (for me) Indiana Jones. I don't include Rocky (because it's sports) or Alien (because its horror). Anyway - I love that you love 80s movies! It was the decade of my youth/young adulthood. Love the films, and LOVE the music! Unrelated Suggestion: I always recommend two of my favorite under-appreciated Westerns: "Quigley Down Under" and "Hidalgo". I'm adding to that "News of the World" with Tom Hanks. It is a unique story that brings a lot of heart to the traditional western setting. I haven't seen a reaction to any of these films. I really like them, and would love to share with you. I started a classic movie club here where I live. Once a month I invite people to choose a movie that they love. I show it at my job, and we have a little discussion about why they love it and wanted to share it. So far we have only had two screenings, but its fun! Anyway, I enjoyed your reaction very much! OK bye!

What can be better than a buddy action film? I always like revisiting the Riggs and Joshua fight towards the end.
