Hey folks!

Just a quick heads-up to let you know that the R.E.A.L. VR framework now offers early access support for https://store.steampowered.com/app/3280350/DEATH_STRANDING_2_ON_THE_BEACH/ (I get no commissions).

5 days after release... not bad huh ;-)

What can I say about this game? It's another masterpiece, both on the technical side and in story writing. It's pixel poetry.

And the Decima engine is, well, unreal, if you'll excuse my pun. The performance is amazing, yet despite that, on a clear day you can see forever!!

Don't play this game in VR if you cannot stand to be moved, emotionally involved, scared, and transported to a magical world in the future.

5 days? Holy crap, great job Luke!

bill8888

Awesome, cant wait to play it. Thanks for all the hard work.

zer0

No more neck craning with the decoupled camera controls, trippy. Your amazing man 😎

ANPUT

So being that crimson desert can go into a first person were you thinking about that one? (Asking for a friend) LOL

Cercata

5 days ??? You're getting old :P

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Hello. How do you properly measure performance? For any game including GTA 5 Legacy, the SteamVR graph shows nothing and the virtual desktop performance overlay does not as well. They all seem to report a really low frame time that does not mate what the game really takes to render each frame. What tool can I use otherwise?

Igor Stojic

Wow that was fast! Thanks Luke!

flobv

How many days would it take you to crack Witcher 3, technically ?

Vinesan Naidoo

Amazing work and very many thanks Luke!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Try disabling Steam Input. Make sure to choose "use default settings" if you are using an Xbox controller.

Brandon(Post Maester)

There are fps and latency boxes you can check in the Overlay tab of the REAL overlay. There is also Riva Tuner/Afterburner which works well. HWinfo sensor panel is really good too.

FlyingWaffle

for me "use default settings" was crashing with my xbox controller, it got fixed with "disable steam input"..

FlyingWaffle

For me performance/visuals seem lesser than with DS1, I'm at 23 scaling with a 4090. I'll try turning on "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" in windows... that seems to magically boost things for some games (like Pandora/Avatar). Is it recommended to use the latest NVidia drivers?

Sasshi

Great. But sorry the stupid question: Where do i found the download now? I see only a early access version under 11 of March

Brandon(Post Maester)

Latest drivers are usually best for new games. It's a new game with updated graphics, of course it will be somewhat more demanding. Are you using all the highest settings? I get really good performance with everything set to High except for texture quality (Very High). I hit a stable 90fps at 40ppd using Legacy on a 5090. I also have reflections off because I don't like the shimmer it causes on things, but you can turn those to high as well. Using DLSS balanced.

Sasshi

Ok so it is v2603.24.2? Even though it looks like it was not a post from today

Brandon(Post Maester)

The post would just be dated for whenever it was actually posted. He can just put a new download version on there. Hold on, I will test it to make sure. Installed fine for me with the EA download. You can see that the version changed as well :)

John

You the man

Sasshi

Ok.Thank you.I will try it out tomorrow, and also tell my boss i need a vacation :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

It seems to be a really good game so far :) Much less frustrating than the first one. Even on brutal difficulty. I didn't even notice I was on brutal until I saw it last night 🙃

FlyingWaffle

Thanks! jeez, 40ppd at 90fps... yea, for me DS1 ran also so well I never even had to tweak anything. This time I had everything on high (the default, but then scaled down a few things to medium (not a huge difference). I need to check again where I can see the actual fps (I'm always skeptical about this measure). When it comes to NVidia, I just remember that at some point last year they totally f'ed up their latest drivers, there was a huge uproar, and then everyone was holding off... and of course you never hear when it's ok again to update, so ... if it's not broken don't fix it :P ... especially if you're playing a lot of MSFS2024 in VR!

FlyingWaffle

Yea, I was confused too... you have to ignore the post date and look at the attached driver date... march 24.

Eric M

I found a youtube video that said to download this and how to install it to play forza horizon 5 in vr. "How to play forza horizon 5 in vr (full guide)" did i just waste 15$ and 1.5 hours of my life? Because i did everything. Supported the creator fully. Followed the install and nada. Have i been bambooozled?

steph

you're the boss :) thank you for this ! once more, you are doing such great job to bring us AAA titles to enjoy in glorious VR, i cant thank you enough !

Brandon(Post Maester)

In the REAL overlay near the top of the main tab, it will show the fps. Or, you can check the fps box in the Overlay tab to see the fps on the screen in game.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yup, doesn't work with FH5 🙁 Works with lots of others though. You got a link to the video?

Eric M

If you search the quote i put in my earlier message, on youtube i 99.9% say youll endup at the video.

Brandon(Post Maester)

That looks super sketchy. No gameplay, a fake voice and just one slide. I can ask for a refund for you, but it works with 40 or so other games. So well worth the one-time cost.

Dawid Kolosowski

Brandon. Could you tell me exactly what settings you use to achieve 90 FPS and 40 PPD? Are you using the Quest 3 via Meta Link with a cable? What are your Windows graphics settings, and do you have 'Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling' (HAGS) turned on? I also have an RTX 5090. Currently, I have the Meta Link app set to 72Hz with the resolution slider maxed out. In LukeRoss's mods, I have to use 72Hz and 1/3 reprojection to keep the gameplay smooth."

Eva tiongkes

Hello, will the next version be able to update support for EA F1 2021?

nasa2049 nasa2049

Hey Luke, I just wanted to congratulate you sincerely for your incredible work. The emotions your mods bring are truly something special. I’m really glad you didn’t stop, and that you keep going. Much respect to you, stay strong and keep it up.

Thorsten Krawulsky

Hey Luke, hey Brandon, glad to have you back and that the VR Journey continues. I appreciate that you went through this impact and decided to go on with your loyal Patreons. I have only a quick question according to upcoming games supported by you: have you planned to jump into the Assasins Creed Series? Especially into Valhalla? This is my favourite AC game and every time I play it in 2D and see these beautiful landscapes I think that this would be perfect in glorous 3D and VR.

VRt

RossH

NoMoreFlat (Mutar, another creator on Patreon) has VR mods for most of the recent Assassin's Creed series games, as well as other games like Alan Wake 2 and God of War Ragnarok.

RossH

Excellent, incredibly fast work! I am really looking forward to playing this return trip to our troubled future in Death Stranding 2. I have almost finished your last masterpiece - Baldur's Gate 3 (a great, very long game). My only BG3 issue has been blurring of the second mini-window of 2 items when comparing items in one's inventory. I still think you might broaden your marketing by posting in the Luke Ross general topic in the flat2VR Discord forums, describing the recent releases like DS2 and BG3, as well as the extensive list of free games. Ideally, you could pin the latest list of free and exclusive games in this topic area.

JOVO

HI is there a chance crimson desert will follow?THX

FlyingWaffle

I gotta say, I have totally forgotten what's "legacy" (that Brandon mentions) vs "1/3 retroprojection" (that you mention) and how those relate with the DLSS(S) thing (that Luke has on Balanced in the game). Last time I seriously messed around with all the settings was for CP2077 and Avatar, but I forgot... unfortunately I uninstalled DS1 (which was running great with minimum tweaking) right before installing DS2, at least I would have had some reference. As far as HAGS, my experience is that you have to try it per game... e.g. for me and Avatar, the game would run like crap in VR without it, but then for other games it seems to give lesser per (like MSFS2024). Supposedly it's only making it easier for Windows to coordinate GPU access between competing apps.

Val Salia

Oh awesome! Is it 3rd person only, or is there 1st person functionality?

Brandon(Post Maester)

No FP added in. You can use the compass view as FP though, which works for scenic moments when driving or something like that.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is it switching into 2d when you zoom? This might happen for some things because of the fix for facility menus. What are you zooming? The sniper rifle zoom for instance seems to work just fine for me. Other moments like hacking or zooming in on BB in the private room enter 2d with some warping.

Vinesan Naidoo

Unfortunately Mutar mods do not run smoothly on VRto3D on 3D TV. Much less options like 1/2 or 1/3 compared to Luke Ross mods.

Brozgar

Actually, why don't you get commissions? :) I'd love to buy all games supported by your framework with a referral - that way we could make it more visible that we buy these games specifically to play them in VR and hopefully you could get a small commission as a bonus!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, you are right. I asked Luke to take a look at it. I never zoomed in unless I was using something that needed zooming in :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

40 PPD for me will be a smaller resolution overall because I am using a Varjo Aero. I have a smaller overall fov, so getting to 40ppd requires less resolution and performance. Even then I have a 310-core and 1000-memory overclock on my 5090. Which helps. I don't use the overclock while testing because of instability. without the OC, I have to drop to 37ppd. I always have HAGS on, I haven't found that it hurts performance for me noticeably in any games, but it definitely improves it. I haven't done thorough testing though across rendering modes etc.

Brandon(Post Maester)

@FlyingWaffle Legacy is basic AER without any frame interpolation added. So, it caps at your headset refresh rate and is split between eyes for camera poses. 90fps would be 45 fps per eye. 1/2 and 1/3 add frame interpolation for added smoothness and fludity in motion. So, 1/2 will add an extra frame in to make 90fps feel like 90fps per eye (180 total), instead of 45 of Legacy. 1/3 would add another frame in (or interpolate it) so you have 2 extras to lower the fps cost down to 60fps but still achieve that overall 180fps feel. Rendering mode doesn't relate to DL(S)SS in any direct way. They are different things.

flobv

Surely not all of them. If Luke wants it it could be done in no time.

Brandon(Post Maester)

His (Mutar) focus is VR, so I don't think he puts much if any consideration into 3d displays working.

Eric M

If you could help me with the refund that would be epic. I looked through the list and dont play any other titles. In the future if i find a game that you have made a vr fix for i will have no problem donating. Thank you.

Jason Johnson

i am confused where is the ea download link? i am a member or is this not released to members yet?

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is attached to the post called Early Access. That version will update when a new game is updated.

ProNoob

Hi guys! Can someone guide me how to setup for crystal light openxr via oculus? Seems i can't find any information.

Brozgar

Ah well, fair enough :(

JOVO

HI whats that about Mutar? Assassins creed in vr like G3D? he has mods for it,, never heard about, now gone check that. THX

骏 邓

install Oculus ,than you can use Oculus Runtime.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Specifically, install the Meta Link app for PC. That way your system has the Oculus dll files. You don't have to run the Link app while playing. Probably good to run it once and then every once in a while to see if it needs to update. Auto should then default to Oculus runtime in the REAL overlay at that point. Also good to disable the extra settings the game section of the Play software. Quad views, foveated or priority rendering. The stuff in that area. It won't work with REAL anyways and may cause issues. Pimax sharpening can cause flickering in some rendering modes.

VRt

Pierre Della Rocca

Yes man, Crimson Desert in the best candidate for VR, Huge world and very wel optimized on PC

flobv

You better be quick with Crimson Desert before Mutar cracks it.

ProNoob

Thank you!!

Brandon(Post Maester)

If Mutar is working on it, why would Luke also work on it? That makes no sense. He just did DS2. If Mutar does Crimson Desert, then that is great. It is not a competition. I much prefer REAL over Mutar's framework but that doesn't mean it needs to be some kind of competition. Pretty sure it took Luke a ton of work to get DS2 working in 5 days! Lets just appreciate that.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yes, I would like to play it at some point in VR too. I think it is wild to expect Luke to do both games though back-to-back 😒 From what people have said, Mutar might be working on it. Which makes sense.

flobv

I was just (jokingly) saying. No pun intended. We don't actually know if Mutar is already working on it, especially since he is now involved with Flat2VR Studios for releasing FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR next month. Whoever adds support for Crimson Deert in VR will surely get a massive visibility traction, perhaps to the level of CP 2077. That world in CD is huge. Regarding making them both CD, it would actually make some sense, to compare 2 different VR frameworks side by side, as it was the case for Atomic Hearth and Hogwarts Legacy, both supported also by UEVR.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Luke did AH before UEVR was released. Hogwarts as well, I think. I think the only one he did after UEVR was out would be Final Fantasy Rebirth. That was because he is a fan and already did the first one.

flobv

When Luke released AH and Hogwarts, UEVR was just about to be released as well, so it looked like a little redundant. But some prefered Luke's implementation, so it was not completely redundant after all. For consumers it's not bad to have options. But I agree that there's no need for a competition. Although Luke said he started this journey because no one else would do it. So it's good that now there are more involved.

骏 邓

LukeRoss VRMOD has a mono mode, which is very important.

骏 邓

I hope his mod has a mono mode.

Nier

For me, It comes down to performance and optimization but true though, less work for Luke otherwise.

Brandon(Post Maester)

He actually talks about it in the post. But I would use the compass view if you are just zooming in to look at things.

AaronCLS

Am I tripping or is there not a download attachment on this post? Last one i see with a file download is the first early access post.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can it be both? :) The Early Access download will include anything new upon release. You just re-download the EA version and you should be good to go.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I played for a few hours. Like many people, I think the controls are ultra complicated, but they released a patch to correct that to some extent it looks like. I haven't played since release. Too busy playing DS2 :) DS2 itself has lots of mechanics to learn as well as things you can do that aren't explained at all 😁

Marcin Augustyniak

I waited for this game and I knew that you will don't miss it :) Diving in a wonderful world;)

骏 邓

How can I find the INFO for the games I supported before? Only the three new games now have detailed viewable requirements and settings in INFO, while none of the older ones can be displayed.

骏 邓

I'm encountering issues while playing DOOM: The Dark Ages. I'm using the latest Steam version. When I apply the VR Mod v26, the game throws an error. From forum guides, after enabling Steam Input, the error disappears, but the opening intro cutscene becomes extremely laggy, and I can't get into the game afterwards. If I use the non-Steam cracked version with the VR Mod installed, only a flat square screen appears in front of me — it’s neither proper VR mode nor mono mode, just a plain square display. What should I do to fix this?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you have the game in windowed. If you need to disable REAL to adjust settings, rename RealRepo folder to RealRepo_bak Here are settings from the original post. GAME: Environmental Screen Shake: Off UI: HUD Aspect Ratio = Default HUD Scale = 0.50 (do not forget this otherwise everything in your HUD will look huge) SUBTITLES Scale = 1.50 CONTROLS: Aim Assist = Off VIDEO: Window Mode = Windowed Aspect Ratio = 16:9 Resolution = 1920 x 1080 Vertical Sync = Off Enable HDR = Off Present From Compute = On (recommended value, but can also be set to Off in case of problems) Resolution Scaling Mode = Off Field of View = 90 Depth of Field = Off Upscaler = DLSS if you have an NVIDIA card. Unfortunately this title is not yet supported by OptiScaler, so if you have an AMD card you will need to select FSR here and won't be able to take advantage of DL(S)SS yet. Keep monitoring their Wiki though, as I'm sure that somebody will soon find a way to spoof an NVIDIA card. Enable HDR = Off Motion Blur = Off (very important in all my mods to avoid image smearing) Reflections Quality: Sadly this game follows the modern trend of making ray tracing mandatory, which really kills frame rate even if you have an RTX 5090. You can try to gain back some fps by setting Reflections Quality to Off or Low, which apparently limits ray tracing to shadows and general lighting.

2023 VR貓

As far as I know, using Steam VR's world scale adjustment function can severely damage the sense of depth. Even without using it, the sense of depth is often lost due to unknown factors. Resetting the resolution can restore the sense of depth. I don't know if this is your problem.

Adzy

I'm getting a weird screen tear effect when moving my head, that isn't FPS related, I've got a locked 90fps and lots of headroom. It happens even on the splash screens and seems to come and go. Not sure if it's a Virtual Deskptop thing or a game thing, but I've seen it appear in VD desktop mode too. I'm on a 5090/Quest 3. Anyone else experiencing this? It's driving me nuts! Seeing it in Doom Eternal and BG3 so far, but haven't tried other games.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you don't have any motion smoothing/SSW/ASW turned on. You are using VDXR in the streamer app and Oculus runtime? No SteamVR right? Also make sure you don't have frame gen on in game, Nvidia app. Also, no VRSS at the bottom of Nvidia settings. Have you tried connecting with Air Link to see if you get the same thing?

Adzy

Haven't checked for frame gen in the NVIDIA app and haven't tried air link yet. Was hoping to avoid that as I prefer virtual desktop. Colours seem more vibrant in game and its just a better UX. But thanks, I'll give it a try to narrow down the problem.

Brozgar

Try switching to Legacy AER and see if it's still there. Not sure if we're having the same issue, but for me most games have some tearing effects on 1/2 rate (and 1/3 too, I think, although I think it's more noticable on 1/2) when moving camera around the character, for example. Legacy AER seems to remove this issue entirely and also boosts FPS a bit, although the depth effect is not as strong as on 1/2 rate, I think.

Wouter

Since the last update of the game, I get a lot of random freezes. Game is still running on the desktop, but frozen in the headset.

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is an issue that people have reported having while playing flat as well. I have had 2 or 3 times where it freezes and then the cutscene plays at like 2x speed until it catches back up to the dialogue. Have you adjusted the settings at all to give yourself some performance headroom? There is this direct storage file upgrade on Nexus, I don't know if it will improve things or not, but it has seemed to help some people with stutters. Other people have said that they deleted the direct storage files entirely which helped with stutters and freezes but it will also increase CPU usage, so not sure if that is a good route to go here. Make sure to back up the dlls files first if you chose to replace them or delete them. https://www.nexusmods.com/deathstranding2onthebeach/mods/18 When you have a freeze, you are welcome to grab a copy of the RealVR64.log file, put it on pastebin.com and post a link here and I will look at it. Just to see if anything pops up there. You can also look at Windows Event viewer to see if it gives you any info. Especially if the game crashes.

Brandon(Post Maester)

@Brozgar, those types of effects should only happen when rotating the camera with the thumb stick while using 1/2 or 1/3. They are from frame interpolation. It shouldn't happen when moving your head. Although it could depend on performance and latency too :) If your performance is low and/or latency really high, you could have all kinds of effects when moving your head 🙃 1/2 is the hardest mode to run, because it is putting more strain on the GPU with the added frame interpolation to essentially double your fps. Which is why 1/3 is there, to reduce the fps cost. 1/2 will have less artifacts though and you can also drop your refresh rate to use 1/2. 72hz using 1/2 is still very fluid. The frame interpolation from both of those modes will increase latency. The lower the fps and the more you add interpolation, the higher the latency. That is why Legacy AER gets rid of the issue; it has lower latency. But it is less fluid because it is only 45 fps per eye at 90 fps.

Sean Lewis

I'm a bit confused as to how you actually download the... er... thingy... (not quite sure what to call it in light of recent events) and do the updates also include patches and updates for compatibility issues across the supported game stack.

Yeahman

Hello, I just downloaded Death Stranding 2 on Steam, and when I enable the mod, it crashes after about one second. Basically, the image starts to appear in VR, and then it crashes. Maybe it’s due to a recent update. Do you have any advice for me?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Disable Steam Input in the Steam controller options for that game :) It is mentioned in the release post.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I am not aware of any current broken games due to updates, so they should still work. The free version download should have all the past supported games with the exception of the current 3 early access games and any DMCA'd titles. The Early Access version has the latest 3 supported games along with all the supported games in the free version. If you are a member, you can just download the Early Access version, and it should cover everything. If there is a new release to the framework, the Early Access version will be updated to cover the new release. When a release leaves EA, the free version will get updated to support it. But to keep it simple, just download the EA version and it will work across all supported titles currently. With the exception of any games that were DMCA'd.

VRt

Brandon(Post Maester)

Dollman, Tarman, Deadman, Heartman...... Why is Sam not just called Postman?

Yeahman

Thank you very much !!! :D

Sean Lewis

Thanks Brandon, much appreciated

骏 邓

Thank you for your help. I can now enter the game smoothly and play it with the VR MOD successfully. The only issue is that when selecting CAPTURE, the footage captured via OBS still has left-right jitter, instead of a mono-style view.

Adzy

I'm almost certain it's a current Virtual Desktop issue. I've been able to reproduce it outside of games in desktop mode, though it's happening more often with the games I mentioned. It's a distinct screen taring-like effect that happens when I move my head. Even if I drop my res real low it happens. I would describe it as similar to a poor signal on a digital TV, where large blocks of pixels get jumbled. Apparently toggling all input options in VD off and back on again seems to help as suggested on a thread in the VD discord. I was able to play for a good hour or two last night without it happening with that method. Btw, keep up the good work team! This framework has rekindled my love for VR and gaming. I'm constantly awed! EDIT - my router set up is optimal, dropping the bitrate didn't help. But I can try switching codecs to see if that makes a difference.

Sasshi

Somehow with the REAL option DLSSS turned on,something feels kind of strange to me.I already played about 10 hours of DS2 and after every session my eyes were hurting a little.Today i did turn off DLSSS and noticed despite of the shimmering it feels better to watch.Someone else noticed this?

Brandon(Post Maester)

You can also try using FSR, it works pretty well in this game. DS2 has the best DL(S)SS implementation currently though. FSR will give you better performance with not much shimmering in this game. It has more visible aliasing though. Were you playing for around the same time with DL(S)SS off?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Codec might make a difference. Try unchecking "use fov stencil" in the streamer app if you have it checked. That seems to help on my end. After that and making sure I was hitting 90fps with Legacy and 1/2 I was able to move my head at a realistic speed without it being an issue. My latency was around 70ms with Legacy and 80-90 with 1/2 just for comparison.

骏 邓

Pimax Crystal Super OLED。ALL other games works with Oculus Runtime, but this one not。

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, there is an odd conflict between Pimax and Vulkan. You can try running the Meta Link software, launching the game and then switching to OpenVR runtime at the top of the REAL overlay. After it injects using OpenVR, hopefully it will kick Oculus runtime into working correctly for the Vulkan games like DOOM and Indy.

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Hello Brandon, could you ask Luke if for the GTA 5 REAL VR Mod it is possible to use AER V2? The current implementation makes me queezy. I don't have the stomach when the car takes a sharp turn. Too much ghosting.

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Otherwise would it be possible to make the mod think i has to output 180 fps or 240fps? And then just show the actual frames in the native frequency of the headset such as 90hz or 120hz? This sounds like something easy to do, and runnable on high end graphics cards.

Sasshi

Without about 2 hours. With DLSSS it's like the Picture is a little off, especially in in-game cutscenes and while fast movements. In every other game that supports this ,it was a huge improvement but in DS2 something looks not right

Adzy

Thanks Brandon! I didn't know about the fov stencil setting, but that seemed to reduce black bars/lag when moving my head really quickly. I take it those black bars are normal? My latency is much lower, like 30-45ms but I still get them if I move my head really quickly. I noticed it even when using the link cable, so not sure if it's a Quest thing, or just a quirk of the mod (different issue to the one I was talking about, but I'm just curious) The original issue I was having seems to have settled for me, it was apparently affecting some users and not others.

flobv

It looks like Mutar won't be working on CD for a while.

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is already possible. AER V2 caps at 2x your headset refresh rate. It is only worth using in a handful of the games though, even on a 5090. CPU limitations are a thing still. There is no way I am hitting 180fps in DS2 for example or even DS1. I could do 144 in DS1 and I may be able to hit that in DS2 with some moderate settings and resolution sacrifices. I'd rather stick to 90 and play at high res though, because it is going to look far better. If you want to run at 90 but have the game think you are doing 180, you can't just do that without any kind of motion smoothing or frame gen or something like that. That already exists too, with 1/2 rendering mode. I don't know exactly what you are trying to say, but hopefully that covered it :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is not. He would have to port GTA V over to the current framework pretty much. Maybe he will someday, but I don't think it is any type of priority right now. I wouldn't count on it though, as Take Two tried to DMCA the free Github version of GTA V.

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

This is actually linked to the other comment you just answered about running at 180hz or 240hz. Is it possible to put out a very small optional update to the GTA 5 mod so it runs at 180 or 240hz and sends the good frames to the quest 3 at 90 or 120hz? This is to improve the clarity. I'm not saying porting the whole framework as you say, rather just a small update otherwise I can't allow myself to play the mod, I just get sick

Brandon(Post Maester)

Those moments of DLSS breaking are in all the games really. For instance, NPC faces and driving in Cyberpunk. Even using FSR or DLSS without DL(S)SS you can still see weird moments in this game with character hair and eyes. Use what works for you, but they all have issues. Some games show them more than others. The Horizon games for instance seem to have less issues with trails and blobby distant lod textures on things. You could also try updating to the latest DLSS version and using preset M or even L. If you are able to enjoy the game with DLSS as is currently, then go for it. Most important thing is to just have fun playing : )

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is why I stated "realistic speed" :) If I move my head side to side frantically, then it is more problematic, but why would I do that while playing 🙃 I am able to look around naturally without them being an issue. If all else fails, you can just disable the Hfov optmization in the REAL overlay. You could then use the fov stencil in VD to find tune the horizontal fov yourself for added performance.

Brandon(Post Maester)

What do you mean by "sends the good frames" You can set your headset to 120hz and it should be able to do 120 in the game. I don't think he is going to update it at all any time soon. It is just not a priority right now. Too many other things to do.

Sasshi

Thank you for the answer.I see now what the problem with DLSSS turned on is.The image is slightly less sharp. When i'm in the Private room and look at Sam's face while switching DLSS on and off, i see a clear difference. This little difference maid my eyes hurt. I will try to change dlls present tomorrow. If that's not helping i sadly have to stop playing this. To choose between a blurry image and a schimmering mess is both to painful to play. This breaks my Heart a little,i really like this game.

Brandon(Post Maester)

That might be a good thing while they release patches and get things figured out.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Did you try FSR yet? There is sharpening in the game settings right under the upscaling option as well. And don't forget about the deblur slider in the REAL overlay main tab that defaults to max. You should be able to get things plenty sharp, but don't over sharpen them or they will look grainy. Preset M looks pretty good and has better performance than L.

Wouter

Thanks for your reply. I found out I have the same issue with other games. I was playing The Last Of Us part 1 and after just 1 minute of playing it was frozen in the headset. Tried swapping DLSS to newest version, but that doesn't help. Here is the log for TLOU https://pastebin.com/WdLRWjDF Thanks in advance!

Wouter

EDIT: I did a reset of the link runtime cache and that seems to do the trick 🤞🏻

Rajah Pinard

Is there a way to have the Batman Arkham games in VR? So bumbed that Meta has the only available game.

Sasshi

Well,I tried everything.FSR,different value of sharpening,Deblur in the REAL overlay. Also other dlss presents (K,J,M,L),also different dlss versions and nothing helps.A schimmering mess and when i turn on DL(S)SS it always gets blurry.I also noticed when DL(S)SS is activated, there are a lot of dlss warn entries in the REAL log. When it's deactivated there is no warn entry at all. So i'm totally lost here.

Eric M

You mentioned helping me with a refund and then disapeared.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Sorry for not letting you know! Patreon changed the way they handle refunds. Luke tried multiple times, but it wouldn't let him refund you for some reason. I'll ask him to try again. Maybe since some days have passed, the system will work.

Eric M

I appreciate you. Like i said if i find a game i can use it on i will be back. Thanks

How to hide the mouse cursor in the REAL VR mod? I'm using a very old version, 5.0.2. The REAL VR mouse cursor is always visible even when I don't bring up the overlay. How can I hide it?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I'm not aware of any shortcut or anything for that. Are you using a mouse to play? Must be playing one of those games that are no longer around? :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Well, there is if Luke supports them :) Not sure if he will. You can always throw out request. Just don't post it constantly :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Are you sure you don't have motion blur or something turned on? It shouldn't be blurry, especially compared to their Pico method. FSR actually should have more aliasing because it has less AA blur :)

骏 邓

I play with a controller. In the new version of LukeRoss's REALVR mouse, it automatically disappears after a few seconds, which is really annoying. It never disappears in the old version and stays visible all the time. What's more, it's locked within the size of the overlay, so I can't move it outside the screen.

Tomo

try ALT+ C ( I think years ago I wrote down this not sure if it works)

WIG

I still need to play the first one. Is there first person options or is it not really needed? If not can we position cam like ff7 also slow mo like ff7?

Henry Brooks

Hey, does anyone know how to set up for Uncharted Legacy of Thieves properly? I get weird visuals, like the environment is huge and the character model is double. If I increase the world scale to around almost max of the slider the character model is clear but anything below that makes a double.

Sasshi

It could not be Motion Blur because everything in not sharp and not only things that are moving.I dont have antyhing else running that i think could cause that.I played recently both FF again and had no problem with those.

Brandon(Post Maester)

What headset are you using? There should be a setting in the game called "render scale" or something like that. Make sure it is at 100.

Brandon(Post Maester)

No FP cam. It is 3rd person as you will need to see if you are losing balance. There is a mod on Nexus that makes the compass view a toggle, so you can use it for first person. You can also just hold it when driving or looking at things normally. The mod may also get rid of the compass UI, don't remember for sure. There is also another option using Cheat Engine from VRified games. Tutorial for setting it up is at the 10:10 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3rXV9eClk0

骏 邓

Nothing happen

Brandon(Post Maester)

I'd just try stuff like hitting the Windows key so I can click outside the game and then clicking on the game in the task bar at the bottom to see if it puts the mouse cursor in a location that isn't as visible. Have you looked through the overlay tab to see what options there are? Did you try the middle mouse button? You could also try this..... https://www.softwareok.com/?Download=AutoHideMouseCursor

Brandon(Post Maester)

Motion blur can make everything blurry in VR. Just make sure you have it set to 0 and depth of field set to medium.

Sasshi

It is,checked it already twice

Brandon(Post Maester)

At least we know they are totally ok with paywalls 😉 Paying $10 one time to be able to play the whole of a particular Cyberpunk version as long as you want..... not OK! Paying per hour, or session, to play through a small chunk of the game each time...... totally OK!

Miguel Plylar-Moore

NeiR Automata…requested a million times, is it doable? Also March 25th was my 50th, nice to see DS2OTB hit. You’re appreciated Luke.

Adzy

Nah, it looks and runs great. It's only when I move my head really fast. Was just checking that was normal. Thank you for all the replies!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Fortunately, DLSS and FSR don't have as much shimmering in this game without DL(S)SS, so if leaving it off works, I guess go with that. If you want to link the log file here, I'll take a look. Do/did you have any global changes to DLSS in Nvidia App or Inspector?

Sasshi

The only change i did is with DLSS swapper to try out various presents and versions. I deinstalled Nvidia Inspector to see if it change something but without success

Brandon(Post Maester)

I don't think uninstalling Nvidia Inspector would clear any changes it made. It makes them on a driver level, so you would need to do a global or game reset with Inspector, I think. Does DLSS by itself without DL(S)SS look fine?

Sasshi

I also installed the newest driver (at the time) after it. At nighttime it looks great. At daytime a lot of shimmering at trees and grass and ghosting effect around der caracters. It's playable after i got little used to it but i don't understand why the dlss fix ist not working. Every other game worked perfectly with it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is not out of the ordinary to get some DLSS warnings, but not that many. I don't have WMR access anymore to test unfortunately. You could try doing a fresh install of the game and maybe even a fresh driver install to clear out any possible changed settings. You could also use DLSS swapper to restore back to default DLSS version for the game. I'm not really sure what is causing your issue. Do you have a couple other games you can grab log files from that you are using REAL and DL(S)SS with? OH, what quality level are you using with DLSS? Don't think it should matter but if you are using Ultra Performance, moving to Quality could make a bid difference. If you haven't thought of that already.

Sasshi

This is form KCD2 https://pastebin.com/37u5L4T1 . I tried it just now and it also have some warn logs but it still looks and performs great with DL(S)SS DS2 i tried on Balanced and it didn't looked a lot better when i changed to quality mode. For the Driver install i used DDU so it should be as clean as it get. But well, i can try again.

Brandon(Post Maester)

No need to try again if you already used DDU and did a clean install. That should have also eliminated anything you changed with Inspector if you used DDU after that. Maybe try a fresh game install as a last resort. It could just be some conflict with this game and WMR too 🤷‍♂️ I'll dig my G2 out tonight or tomorrow and test with the Oasis driver just to see if I have the same issue with the G2 in general. What rendering mode are you using?

Sasshi

Legacy, even though in most of the games i need the 1/2 option because i'm really sensitive when in VR games something stutters

Sasshi

New install didn't help but anyway ,who cares.I give up.I play RE9 in VR instead and it's great. Thanks for trying to help though.

Void3008

Im having an issue with death stranding 2 , started happening yesterday, whenever I start the game it opens the meta app instead of starting vr , it's the only game that does this for my other games work right away , playing with pimax crystal light, I have already played ds2 around 5hrs before this happened

Alessandro D'Amico

Guys, I need help like this please, at the beginning of the game it was perfect then without making any strange changes, Lucke Ross’s menu crashes the game. Please help me or at least give me some ideas to solve the problem. Hello and happy holidays. 🙏🙏🙏

Brozgar

Try disabling Steam input in the Steam controller settings.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yup, just disable Steam input, it mentions this in the game's settings post :) Always important to check game posts.

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is odd. Do you have Oculus set as your OpenXR runtime perhaps? Try setting Pimax as OpenXR runtime in the play software.

Void3008

Got it fixed by reinstalling the meta app and restarting PC , must've been something with that app

Alessandro D'Amico

Thanks guys, I solved the crash problem, now I have a little problem in the game, where the battery bar and the shoe wear bar don’t work properly is it a known bug? Thx

Brandon(Post Maester)

What do you mean by "don't work properly"? I can see when the battery is draining as well as when my shoes get damaged.

Griever226

I've been having the same issue with the gauges. I just posted in the discord with a screenshot that hopefully explains better than just words.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Try setting a shortcut key for the 2d screen and then switching between 2d and back. That seems to bring the bars into proper view for me. You may need to do it once in a while or when you need to look at them. That seems to be a quick workaround for now. I have space bar set, so it is easy to find without looking down. I'll add it to the bug tracker.

WIG

I have pinax crystal light and meta quest 3 I prefer pimax but understand r.e.a.l runs with meta xr is there a way to switch to metaxr from pimax xr without plugging in my quest 3? Minor inconvenience i knkw but would rather just leave my pimax plugged in and not have meta quest on and connected.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Why would you need to plug your Quest 3 in? As long as you have the Meta app installed and up to date, Pimax should use Oculus runtime if you have auto set in the REAL overlay. If you for some reason wanted to set Oculus as your OpenXR runtime, you can do that in the Meta Link app settings. When I have Pimax set as my OpenXR runtime in the play software, it still uses Oculus runtime.

Brozgar

I just tried it and while 2d screen indeed brings the bar in the right place, switching the 2d checkbox back doesn't keep it fixed. Could it also be somehow related to the bug that all player made icons are invisible? It worked perfectly in the first part, so hopefully it's possible to fix here too?

Brozgar

Just verified that 2d screen checkbox also fixes the missing icons, and they also disappear as soon as I toggle it off again. And it's easy to test too - you can place any marker next to you to see the issue.

Dávid Dienes

dude! when did you start charging members again and why didn't you notify your members that you will start charging again? I kept my membership because you said you won't charge until the copyright fiasco is over and I wanted to support you. I never received a notice that the membership fee is on again! I only use your mod for Cyberpunk, I have no use for it now that that title is out of the game, you should have sent out a notice before you start charging again! I looked everywhere, there is no notice, not even here! I find this very deceptive especially because most people only pay for one month membership to get the mod then cancel until the mod gets broken and needs an update! I want my money back from the March 28 charge! Honestly, I feel cheated! I only found out that you charged me on my card statement! I think it comes without saying that if you suspend the membership fee you will notify people that you are starting to charge again! This really sucks!

Henry Brooks

Quest 3, Virtual Desk. Render scale is set to 100. The world is huge and the player model is double, like I have to cross my eyes to see in focus. Tried reinstalling in a new folder, the latest early access realvr mod installed. Same thing happens. Only in this game, I think I'll just skip it.

VRt

Brandon(Post Maester)

That is what I am using as well. Almost at the end of the game. It has been mostly great, but I do regret spending hours helping to rebuild roads and such. They actually aren't that useful. I also hope they can make the orders more of a meaningful thing in the next game. Like actual side missions instead of mostly fetch quests, it gets tedious and boring eventually. At least if you are trying to get everyone to 4 stars. You can totally skip that and just play through the story. It would definitely be more fun if each person just had 5-6 unique side quest like orders that fit into the game or their own story narrative. You do go into a few of the shelters and actually meet the inhabitants which is cool, I hope they build more on that in the next one. I have very much enjoyed the game overall :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Only part way through. I was thinking of going back and playing the first all the way through, but I am pretty burnt out on the delivery mechanics. Maybe someday. But I already know the story, so it is somewhat unlikely. I have a lot of games in the backlog.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You can try using the "frame delay compensation slider" and see if that helps. Make sure you are not using SteamVR at all. Use VDXR in the streamer app and Oculus runtime in the main tab of the REAL overlay.

Henry Brooks

That did it, thanks :) Set it to 1 and the issue went away.
